A beautiful family-friendly resortPosted Mar 3, 2014
Pros: Room configurations, staff, pools, beachfront, location, very clean, dive center had good excursions right from the hotel beachfront
Cons: Work out a better, faster system to get drinks & food without having to hand over your room key.
Location: About 10 minutes north of downtown Playa. Tulum was about 45 minutes south, and Akumal is a great beach town about 25 minutes south.
Just back from a week at Royal Haciendas with my husband and two small children. We could not have been more pleased with our decision to stay here. The resort is beautiful and has many amenities, including multiple pools (with plenty of shallow areas for kids), a gorgeous beachfront with gentle waves, excellent service, all-inclusive food & drinks, and daily activities including Yoga, aqua-aerobics, kids activities, nightly entertainment and more. It is true what other reviews say about the annoyance of having to hand over your room card every time you get food, drink or services. However, this was the ONLY negative about our whole stay. The main reason we chose to stay here was for the room configuration which worked perfectly for us -- the kids slept on twin murphy beds in the living room while mom and dad had privacy in the king bedroom. The bathroom was accessible to both rooms as was the balcony and jacuzzi. The resort is about 10 minutes outside of downtown Playa, which might not work for some, but for us it was perfect. Playa is fun but a little chaotic and it was nice being a bit removed and having our own quiet oasis. All in all a very good experience.

Beautiful views. Close to the ocean. Great foodPosted Mar 3, 2014
Pros: I loved the views, the gym, the restaurants food. Liked that there was a shuttle in to Playa del Carmen.
Cons: I would have preferred to not have to switch rooms during our stay.
Location: If you gold there is a beautiful course on the grounds. Also shopping close by.
We had a wonderful time! Friendly and helpful staff. Sandy beaches that was close to the pool, and hotel. We did have a slight adjustment to signing a receipt with every drink or food order. As an all inclusive we hadn't had that before. It ended up working out well and we had a great week. I would make a return trip!

This is a nice clean establishmentPosted Mar 3, 2014
Pros: The rooms were very nice. We had a suite with a kitchen and hot tub on the balcony. It was worth tghe price to upgrade. I recommend an upper floor.
Cons: . Even though you have an all inclusive wrist band you still have to give the servers your room key and sign a ticket for each drink or meal you get.
Location: About 3 miles from town. Typical shops and a couple of malls in town. $3 shuttle to and from town.
This is not a hotel, it is a time share that rents out rooms that members have not booked. You will be highly pressured to attend a sales presentation to purchase a time share. Our concierge asked us if we had a copy of our "terms and conditions" from Expedia. When we told him we did not he infomed us that part of the terms and conditions was we have to set through a 90 minute sales presentation to purchase a time share. We told the sales person at the beginning that we were not interested but were there because it was mandatory based on what the concierge told us. This seemed to be a surprise to her. She had not heard of this requirement before. She even mentioned it to her suoervisor, who also seemed surprised by it. They asked who our concierge was, we told them and that was all that was mentioned about the requirement. They went on as if it was normal. It lasted 2 hours, they had a total of 3 people that tried to get us to buy. We left the meeting worn out from them hounding us. It was very high pressure sales. We checked with Expedia after this expirence and they said it was not in out terms and conditions to attend this sales presentation. I wish I would have checked with them before the meeting! I went to find our concierge after speaking to Expedia and he was not there the rest of the week. I don't know if he was disciplined or not. We did not receive an appology from anyone for his actions

Fantastic value for all-inclusivePosted Mar 2, 2014
Had a very pleasant stay at this all inclusive property. Very relaxing. Seems like most guests at this resort were owners and were very friendly. Food was good, pool area was great, and the swim up bars at the pools were perfect. Beach area wasn't huge but definitely sufficient. Rooms were top-notch with a private jacuzzi tub on the porchand full kitchens Staff at the resort were very friendly and helpful. Truely a top notch resort for travelers looking for a place to relax in fantastic weather and with great people. Short taxi ride to downtown for those looking to shop on Fifth Avenue. I highly recomment this resort. .

Royal Haciendas . Playa de CarmenPosted Feb 24, 2014
Cons: Make the food service comparable to others in the business. Train your people by professionals not amatures Improve the linen service.
This facility is a timeshare business trying to become a all inclusive hotel. We have chosen the place because there was a suite available with a separate bedroom for our Grandchildren with all inclusive option. Having been to many hotels with this option, thi is probably a 1 out of 10. The food quality, choice, presentation is of the lowest level. They have a card system, wich is the most annoying in addition to the wristband, you have the feeling the company counts every bite. Service person ell is not trained at the restaurants. The hotel part, service below avarege, the linens are subpar and worn Our conclusion was the main objective is to recruit new timeshare customers This is not the place, for all inclusive expiriance.

Nice hotel , convenient, great food and drinksPosted Feb 24, 2014
Pros: Nice size kids as well as adult pools. Restaurant was very conveniently located.
Cons: We had a full kitchen suite, would have really helped to have a compact washer dryer in the unit. This is really important when travelling with kids.
Very good service. Great resort by the beach. Kids friendly for ages 4 and up.

Relaxing beach getawayPosted Feb 22, 2014
Pros: The staff was extremely friendly, pools were nice, landscaping beautiful, nice fitness center with new equipment, good food, beach tiki huts.
Cons: All-inclusive option: Don't require the room key to be presented for everything. It was annoying to wait for a bill each time (felt obligated to tip).
Location: Visited Chichen Itza, swam in a Cenote, spent a day at Xplor which the kids LOVED.
Overall we had a wonderful time. The hotel was nice and clean with friendly staff. Our two bedroom family suite had tons of room: king bed, two double beds, and two twin beds. Our concierge tried to give us a sales pitch to buy excursions and a timeshare, but once we made it clear we weren't interested, she backed-off. The beach was clean with nice lounge chairs and tiki huts for shade. Drink/food service was available on the beach, and also at the pool bar which you can swim up to and sit in the water while you drink. Snorkel equipment and kayaks were included in the all-inclusive package. Scuba diving was also available. The hotel offers a shuttle to Playa del Carmen where there's nice shopping and good restaurants. There's a buffet restaurant (good breakfast) and also a nicer sit-down restaurant (about half the items on that menu have a surcharge above the all-inclusive). There's a grocery store in the hotel for guests who don't choose the all-inclusive option.

Excellent StayPosted Feb 19, 2014
Pros: Loved the quietness of the resort and friendly staff
Cons: Quit trying so hard to sell a time share
Location: Playa del Carmen is a five minute drive and fun to shop and eat.
We stayed with Royal with their all inclusive Refine package and found nothing lacking. Though smaller than many of resorts vast food selections, the food was always excellent. The staff was very friendly and willing to help. We are considering bringing our family of 10 down next year. I have stayed at several other all inclusive resorts in Mexico and this was by far the best experience.
