Awesome all inclusive

Posted Jul 27, 2015
Pros: wait staff, food, pools, definitely felt family oriented
Cons: upgrade all TV's to HD TV's, improve Wifi through-out resort (seemed not to work half the time). keep an eye on rowdy people after midnight
Location: we visited downtown playa del carmen (didnt much care for it as it was VERY touristic), Xcaret was fun but we were limited by our 4 yr old
Pros: The staff was great. Waiters, bar tenders, maid, room service all treated you with great respect. They were awesome. The room we had faced the ocean (awesome views). The pools were great (many, big, and clean). The food was good, we tried everything except their "fancy" restaurant. Wifi signal existed through-out resort. Cons: People kept insisting on partying on the beach outside our villa late into the night. We had to call security several times to get them away from our room. Not really the hotel's problem, but still they could have kept a better watch on this. Buffet food was good but we kind of got tired of it after a week. Currently the Gulf of Mexico has sea weed washing ashore on all beaches. There is not much the hotel can do without totally breaking their bank, but it was a bummer not to see the clear blue waters that this area is known for. (FYI: The hotel did its best to try to clean it up a bit every morning). Even though you could get Wifi through out the resort, it was spotty at best. Our villa had an old style TV, which kind of sucked since I had taken our roku with us :-( Don't waste your time with the time share sales pitch. They are not pushy but I regretted wasting close to 3 hours on that.

Everything about the hotel was just perfect.

Posted Jul 27, 2015
Pros: The staff, so friendly and helpful. Clean and bright. Gardens, pools and food just perfect.
Cons: Nothing needs improving at this hotel.
Location: Plenty of nearby activity as specially water activity.
Just a great place to stay. Very clean and comfortable. The gardens within the complex are beautiful and the staff work hard to keep the entire place looking beautiful. Right on the beach which is well maintained with plenty of sun chairs and tables. Unfortunately the entire coast was troubled with seaweed at the time we were there.

It was an excellent hotel overall, except lack of live entertainment at night.

Geared towards owners rather than all-inclusive

Posted Jul 22, 2015
Pros: The grounds are immaculate and the staff friendly. The beach has a sandy bottom with few rocks. There are plenty of palapas and beach chairs.
Cons: Add restaurant choices. Make tipping optional for all-inclusive guests and don't require a signature for every soda, etc.
Location: Requires a taxi or sometimes-free shuttle to get to Playa. Not much else around.
Well-kept resort with the standard all-inclusive amenities and full kitchens for timeshare owners. Owners apparently mostly eat and keep to themselves in the evenings because not much happens after 6pm although there is one small bar open in the evening and an activity room where there are karaoke and band nights. The food is very good, if a bit limited in variety. You won't go hungry, but also won't overeat. There are two daytime bar/grills, one buffet and one sit-down, mostly seafood restaurant. Unlike all-inclusive-only resorts, tipping is expected and is an unexpected expense. Seems like the all-inclusive package should include the tips in the overall package price. There are shuttles to go to Playa del Carmen, but only 3 of times are free of charge; one in the morning and two in the early evening. There may be free return shuttles, but we were told to find and pay for a taxi. If you're very ambitious, you could walk to PDC, but it would take at least 40 minutes and goes through the north part of town that would make many people uncomfortable after dark. Saturday is when the owners come in and leave so activities are more limited that day. Seaweed on all beaches in the PDC area is a problem at the moment (Summer 2015), but the hotel staff work very hard to clean it up every morning.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking time to post about your most recent stay at The Royal Haciendas. As you mention on your review: sargassum is currently a subject of regional interest. We are being informed that the whole caribbean is being affected by this atypical arrival of sargassum. Nevertheless: we have dedicated staff that works hard every morning to remove as much of this algae as possible. This is part of a natural process and we must humbly admit that there's little to nothing we can do against mother nature. We are sure that Expedia's community will appreciate your insights when planning their upcoming visit to Mexican Caribbean. We are a resort focused on rest quality. However: we're currently adding some more entertainment options for our guests and members. We look forward to welcoming you again during your next visit to Riviera Maya. Warm Regards

Nice resort, great staff, just short of great.

Posted Jul 20, 2015
Everything was nice. The ford and drink selection could have been a bit better. That and the emphasis on selling time shares is what kept it from getting a five. Patrick and the staff of the dive shop made the trip special. Highly recommend going with them.

Wonderful Hotel

Posted Jul 20, 2015
Our stay at this hotel was wonderful! The food was excellent! The service from the waiters was also great. At the Poolside and beach they were there ready to take food and drink orders and always making sure your okay and if they could do more. The rooms are very clean. Our room was cleaned and fresh towels brought daily. The grounds of the resort also clean and well maintained! They offer activities and some evening entertainment. We stayed 8 days and if you stay thru a Saturday then they make you change rooms. I knew this before we got there so I was expecting this. It went flawlessly and we moved about 3 rooms down from were we orginated. It was all done in the morning. So for us the experience was smooth and we didn't mind. The beaches were nice and they worked daily to control to there best abilities to clear seaweed. It was a little issue but all the resorts on the beach were having the same issue. Great place we would love to come back next year for our family vacation!

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking time to post about our resort. It is true that seaweed is an environmental problem and not exclusive to our resort only. However, we're glad to learn you've enjoyed the most of your stay and we'll personally praise the waiters at the pool and the beach. We look forward to welcoming you back during your next visit to Riviera Maya. Warm Regards.

We went to the Royal Haciendas last year and came back again this year. Staff was great and very helpful and friendly. There was a lot of seaweed on the beach, which made it hard to walk on the beach. Staff was constantly trying to keep the seaweed cleaned up but it was a losing battle.
