3rd visit - 10 days in paradise!Posted Mar 5, 2014
Pros: Services, friendly staff, food, beach, pool and extras that are available like the Cigar bar and Corner restaurant
Cons: Reservation system for hibachi
Location: Day trips to Playa, Cancun and Maroma Paradise
This was our 3rd visit to the Valentin. We decided to stay in a less expensive room so we could book more nights. 2 previous visits were in the Emerald Rooms. This visit was in a Deluxe Jr Suite. The room was still amazing, comfortable bed, and excellent maid service. The only differences were a single jacuzzi tub, no bidet and no ocean view (of course). The staff was amazing, everybody was friendly and we had an excellent time. We ate at the new Corner restaurant. The extra money for the experience was worth it. We had massages on the beach - what a wonderful experience. We only had 2 negatives the entire time: our tv would turn itself on after being off for 10 minutes. We called for service but it continued to turn itself on. We just unplugged it. We made reservations for the hibachi. Upon arrival that night, they said there was a mix up and some how we didn't have a reservation even though we had the card for it. While waiting we heard from others that their reservation time was moved up to our time. Not sure how or why ours didn't exist but they rebooked us for the next night. They asked us to go somewhere else for dinner that night. That was the only time it got alittle tense because all the restaurants were FULL as it was 6:30 on Saturday night. I demanded that we eat inside the Ginger right then otherwise we wouldn't have eaten for over 2 hrs. After some whispers, they seated us for dinner. Another wonderful trip to the Valentin!

Very large resort. Be prepared to walk.Posted Mar 3, 2014
Pros: The food was very good for an all inclusive. Beach was beautiful once you made the long hike to get there.
Cons: Freshen up the rooms. Get rid of the mold problem and replace the linens. Also STOP people from reserving pool and beach chairs.
Location: Convenient location, short drive from airport. We never left the resort.
Very large and spread out. We were in room 8212 golden suite, which was far from the beach and restaurants. The room looked OK, but did have a very musty/moldy smell. The towels, sheets and pillows all need replacing-very worn. Most of the restaurants were very good. We really enjoyed the Mexican and Italian for dinner. We never had to wait long for a table, but we did go earlier, between 6:30 and 7 each night. Also really liked the bar/coffee shop near the main lobby. Their espresso was EXCELLENT. We had a problem with beach chairs being reserved, only to never see anyone there. Resort should enforce this.

Very nice hotel with wonderful groundsPosted Mar 3, 2014
Wonderful hotel with fabulous grounds and beach area! Staff was friendly and the food was excellent. The only downside was that the "upgraded" is to a deluxe suite with double beds because they said all their king beds were full. I would say since it's an adults only resort you should only have king beds. Other than that, a very wonderful place to come back to.

Our experience was consistent with many othersPosted Feb 24, 2014
Pros: Most of the food was very good, convenient location, amenities, friendliness, spaciousness, ambiance, cleanliness, facilities
Cons: Terrible osso buco, difficulty in getting proper reserved suite.
Location: Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, SCUBA, Mayan and Mexican cultures.
We stayed at VIM from 17-23 of February for our first getaway sans children since our son was born a year ago. In all, it was a wonderful experience which was slightly sullied by not getting the room we wanted. Upon booking our reservation (Golden Suite), we sent a request specifically asking for a third floor room with king bed and open-design bathroom. However, when we got there, they told us they were "upgrading" to a swim-up suite. This room had double beds, and we did not care for the swim-up aspect at all. We asked to be put in the room we requested and were told there was nothing available without double beds, unless we were willing to pay for another upgrade to an Emerald or Imperial suite, which was beyond what we had budgeted for this trip (hello, all-inclusive?). Our room was musty smelling, the lounge chairs fronting the pool were in the bushes, and it sounded like there were some elephants above us stomping around and moving furniture on a near-constant basis. Finally, we were moved to a room on the third floor after numerous requests, which were denied on multiple occasions. After moving, the vacation experience improved dramatically, as we were staying in the type of suite we wanted & paid for. Aside from the aforementioned, the resort and experience was great. For an all-inclusive of this size, the food choices and quality were very good, the staff was friendly, the beach and pool areas are amazing, & other guests were also very happy & friendly.

The best all inclusive that we've found in MexicoPosted Feb 24, 2014
Pros: Love that you don't have to wear those silly wristbands. especially love that you don't have to make reservations for dinner. Staff is accommodating
Cons: The housekeeping efforts are a bit inconsistent. One day you get all of your towels, the next day you don't. Everyday something is missing.
Location: Shopping on 5th Avenue is a fun afternoon. Three waterparks within an hours drive.
Hotel was well maintained. Staff very courteous. Food is excellent especially at Olivo & Tamansari.

Beautiful, fun, good for couples or adult groupsPosted Feb 23, 2014
Pros: food, staff, location, adults only
Cons: more selection on room service menu
Location: playa del carmen shopping and restaurants, a lot of watersports, underground caves and swimming holes (cenote), Chiche Nitza
Just came back after a week stay, excellent accommodations. great food, great pool area. staff very helpful and professional. a very classy place. Everything was smooth and easy from check in to check out. We took a day trip to Chiche Nitza, one of the Wonders of the World and it was great as well. Various restaurants include: Italian, mexican, surf&turf, French, Japanese. Buffet breakfast and lunch was very impressive. I would recommend to anyone looking for a high-class relaxing getaway. It's very relaxing and quiet but there is also always a show and band/dj at night either on the beach or in an outdoor courtyard, none located near guest rooms so your sleep won't be disturbed. I have nothing bad to say about this place at all.

Valentin!Posted Feb 20, 2014
Pros: Adults Only! Rooms, Grounds, Pools, Breakfast!
Cons: Have one restaurant that serves some faster, simpler fare for dinner.
Location: DEEP SEA FISHING! Caught a 52' barracuda! Go into Playa Del Carmen. Good shopping and restaurants.
Valentin Imperial Maya is fantastic! The grounds are Beautiful and well laid out. The Pool is great! It is large and fun with waterfalls and two swim up bars. The beach is one of the nicer ones we have seen in mexico. There is a large swimming area that is rock free and the beach is well cared for. Our room was spacious and very clean, everything we needed, although the staff was a little slow on cleaning the room and restocking the refrigerator and towels. The Breakfast and lunch buffets were great, and Gabriella makes one mean omellete. Had one every day we were there. The only issue we had was with the dinners. The have a number of different restaurants and you order off the menu on all of them, which is nice, except they are small and this results in some very long waits for dinner. One night we waited 2.5 hours from the time we placed our name on the list until the time our food showed up. The food is very good but the portions are extremely small. Also, they try very hard to be super fancy with everything at dinner time and sometimes you just want something simple if you've been running all day, and that is not an option. Also, this resort is adults only, Which is really nice. Huge plus!

anniversary tripPosted Feb 20, 2014
Pros: We enjoy the rooms, the choice of restaurants and both the beach & pool area.
Cons: I would like to see more beach chairs with umbrellas. Even though the hotel policy does not allow reserving of chairs, the guests still do it.
Location: We never left the resort on this stay.
My husband and I enjoyed out stay, this was our 2nd time at the Valentin. We had great weather and really enjoyed our time at the resort. The food was excellent and the staff was very helpful. The beach is beautiful and the pool area is extremely large and relaxing.

Beautiful resort!Posted Feb 19, 2014
Pros: I loved everything this resort had to offer.
Cons: The covered beach huts seem to be a problem. Most people don't seem to follow rules we learned quickly, so we had to get up at 6 am to claim a spot.
Location: Plenty of day excursions available if you want to leave resort.
This is our first time visiting the Valentin Imperial Maya and it could not of been any better! The moment we arrived at hotel we received a friendly greeting and a wet wash cloth to refresh ourselves. We then moved onto the check-in area where my husband and I received a glass of champagne. We were up graded from jr. Deluxe suite to silver deluxe suite and it was wonderful. We stayed in building number 2 and it was secluded but close to everything. The walkways are immaculate and never crowded. The grounds are beautifully kept. All the staff are so friendly always greeting you with hola. The breakfast buffets were good with plenty of choices including eggs made to order. Lunch was also buffet style with plenty options including taco made to order and carving station. You can also eat lunch poolside which is where we found taco's first. There are several restaurants for dinner. Our favorite was the Japanese restaurant Ginger, the service was great and the food was flavorful. The Italian restaurant was also very good. The waitstaff everywhere are very friendly and aim to please. The drinks are not skimpy on alcohol! The pool is outstanding with swim-up bars, waterfall and covered area's. The beach is beautiful and well maintained. Our biggest problem was getting a covered area at the beach. We had to get up and claim a spot at 6 am to get one although the hotel rules say otherwise. With everything said I definitely recommend this resort, wish I was still there!!!!!!
