Settled because of high graduation ratesPosted May 11, 2015
Room smelled smoky even though it was a nonsmoking room. Maybe bedding.

Nice, basic, surprisingly quiet stay.Posted May 10, 2015
Quick check in, quick check out, facing parallel to Main street was surprisingly quiet, close to food area (I don't recommend the neighboring IHOP--small omelets and thin pancakes). Good value.

We just stopped on our road trip home. It was fine for a place to sleep and the breakfast was decent. This and cost is really what I care about.

Good price--but you get what you pay for.Posted Mar 16, 2015
Pros: Bed comfort
Cons: Cleanliness of in-room coffee maker, quality of lobby coffee--Watery.
Location: Near Salem Civic Center--7 minutes away from North Roanoke Mall, 10 minutes away from Roanoke Civic Center--across the street from McDonalds.
I was very pleased with the rate we received for two nights--and the hotel was super close to the reason for our visit to the Roanoke/Salem area. The hotel did have new carpet, however the 'renovations' were limited to that. The hotel is what it is---an early 80's built outside/entrance hotel. I will say the bed was very comfortable, the staff friendly, and the overall cleanliness of bed and linens as good. Where I was dissapointed came in regards to the in-room coffee maker--an avid coffee drinker, I always appreciate both in-room and lobby coffee. Our in room coffee maker was extremely 'scuzzy'. It was not clean--in fact in the water reservoir had water in it that had been there for some time--upon dumping it out to put fresh in there was a gross level of 'miscellaneous unidentifiable yucky particles' in there, no doubt to the former festering stale water. I promptly left it alone. I then went to the lobby to get some lobby coffee--it was very watery and just not even passable. I threw it out after trying it and walked over to McDonalds to get a fresh cup. I am not a complainer--if upon check out I was asked how my stay was I would have mentioned the coffee, but I was not asked--I did get a very friendly "Thank you, you're all set!" upon turning in my keys. Overall a very good price, a comfortable bed-- but the adage is true, you get what you pay for.
