Nicer Motels in the area.Posted Oct 16, 2013
The staff was very nice. Breakfast was decent, but they only have one waffle maker and it kept tripping the breaker. The room itself lacked a lot. One bed frame was actually broken and matress was about 3 inches lower at the headboard than the other end, so we had to sleep the other way. I went cheap, and I guess I got what I paid for.

Good valuePosted Oct 14, 2013
No surprises. Exterior stairs and hallways. Check-in was prompt, beds firm and comfy. Breakfast a little cheap: powdered eggs. But great value for the money -- got what I expected.

DisappointingPosted Oct 14, 2013
Sheets were clean, towels felt like brillo pads. Laid awake all night because there was a bug on the ceiling and I wanted to make sure it stayed there!

HorriblePosted Sep 12, 2013
I didn't expect much except for the basic when making my reservation. However, my experience was bad enough that I wouldn't stay at a Howard Johnson's again nor would I recommend anyone to stay at any of their properties in the future. First, the furniture in the room had water stains/damage as well as cigarette burns (this was a non smoking room). The floors had lots of hair all over it which I only noticed once I walked around barefoot. When I called the front desk about this they had a very nonchalant attitude about it like "noted". I did not receive a call back with a remedy nor was an alternative suggested. The internet required a log on every hour as their system is set up that way which is not that big of a deal but very annoying. The showerhead was moldy and rusted. As I was changing to leave the next morning, housekeeping came into my room without ever knocking. Definitely the worst hotel experience I have ever had and I have stayed at some questionable places in third world countries.

Pros: The staff
Cons: Some fresh paint and cleanliness would go a long way.
I guess based on the price I shouldn't have been surprised, but the room was outdated and not very clean. The shower had mismatched knobs on the hot and cold water and the tile and grout werediscolored. The water pipes made a terrible noise when I turned the shower on. The one bright spot in our stay was the staff were very friendly.

No complaints for the price.Posted Sep 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
We arrived late and left early but the room was completely satisfactory and the price practically a steal! We opted for McD's for breakfast but at least they do offer something. The area has plenty of choices and we did Chinese carry-out for dinner. We both slept very well. Nice pool. Quiet. Yes we would stay there again.

Not bad stop along the highwayPosted Sep 2, 2013 on Hotels.com
Needed a quick stop between New York and Charlotte, and this was just fine. The staff was very courteous and friendly. The room was decent, but the bathrooms need major updating.
