“Not Impressed”

For a Hyatt, I expected a lot more; especially in the breakfast. There was not much in selection. The breakfast didn't include any hot items such as waffles, eggs, or meat. You get all that and more at the Hampton Inn! Next time we will save the money and go somewhere else (maybe the Hampton Inn?) and get MORE than we expect.

“staff was great”

We stopped over night on the way to see family for Thanksgiving. The staff was very friendly. The room had every amenitiy you could think of. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom could have a been a little cleaner in my opinion (shower/tub). Would stay agian.

“Close to Airport”

Close to airport and very convenient for a stop over in Roanoke or if you need to travel elsewhere in Virginia and need an early start the next day like I did. Plenty of places to eat within walking distance for some variety

“Top-Value Roanoke Hotel”

This hotel is very clean and well-managed, with friendly and courteous staff, a warm and inviting atmosphere, and upscale appearance and decor. The rooms are pleasantly quiet and have very comfortable beds, large flat screen HDTV, and many room accessories. The showers have excellent water pressure. The included continental breakfast was also a plus, with a good variety of choices- and all very fresh. The breakfast area, like the rest of the hotel, is maintained immaculate and staff were available to assist customers in any way. The hotel is adjacent to the largest shopping mall in the Roanoke area (Valley View Mall) with a huge selection of great restaurants mixed in with an excellent array of stores. The hotel is so tucked away in a quiet location, you forget there is a mall very nearby. This hotel is one that I look forward to making return stays when I visit the Roanoke area.

Area recommendations

Valley View Mall area is recommended because it has the convenience to travelers of many great restaurants and stores nearby, plus easy access to major highways. There are also a large number of hotels to choose from in this area of the city.

“wish beds were comfortable, mattress was fair”

Staff very nice and helpful. The Mattress was not as good as expected, and pillows were not comfortable. I liked the room and area for fridge and sink. I had a important gathering/meeting the following day, and felt like my back had been thru the ringer. Things were nice but the bed and pillows could maybe use some updating for more comfort.

“Not a great stay”

1. Uncomfortable pillows = very little sleep 2. Furniture LOOKS great but reality is the sofa was the most uncomfortable thing I ever sat on 3. I have had better "inclusive" breakfast at Comfort Inn - basically choices were cereal or toast and coffee or juice 4. This hotel is located at the beginning of a very large one way loop through a shopping mall. If you have to go out , you have to go all the way around the loop which is about a mile or two to get back to the highway. It doesn't seem like it was a well thought out location. 5. Was told at check out I would recieve an e-mail receipt. Three days later, still no receipt.

Must see

We were in Roanoke to visit Black Dog Architectural Salvage. Lots of great reproduction and orignal old iron work outside - great for the garden - also quite a few clawfoot tubs and cast iron sinks - but they are all outside in the weather?? Inside, they have alot of cool stuff, but they don't really have their salvage displayed well. We were looking specifically for a stained glass window for our project. They have a good inventory, but the pieces are stacked on top of each other, so you can't really view them. We were hesitant to start pulling things out because it was all a bit precarious. Same thing for the doors selections. The other side of the building, The Marketplace is mostly designers areas, with lots of beautiful and unique furniture and fabrics. Some antiques and also lots of great repurposing of salvage items. A very nice space to shop in. All in all, Black Dog is worth a trip, but actual Salvage seems to be an after thought and the designer showcases seem to be their focus.

“Perfect!”

This was the perfect hotel for a girls' weekend getaway. The rooms were very nice and comfortable with a suite-like sitting area with sectional sofa and a large flat-screen TV. The location is great, too. Close to downtown, but right in the midst of the mall, restaurants, and movie theater. We will definitely stay here again!

“I'll be back”

Very convenient to highway, restaurants and shopping. Hotel was clean and the rooms were a very nice size. I have stayed there twice and plan to stay there again.
