“Great time in Ol' Virginia”

I recently spent 2 nights at the Quality Inn in Salem, Virginia. For once I didn't get lost trying to find it. It was right off the interstate. Having a 4 legged friend with me was definitely not a problem. The management and staff couldn't have been nicer to me or Lady, my bassett hound. When I asked about any pet-friendly arear, they told me about a wonderful park only 5 minutes from the motel. When I would go up to the office and didn't take the dog, they always gave me a bad time for not bringing her. I felt very safe in the area even when I went out with the dog late at night. We felt very welcome and had a great time.

“Only one complaint”

This hotel looked like it was recently remodeled. The check in was easy, the desk clerk polite. Check out was equally quick, just drop the keys and go. Breakfast was very good, and the lady restocking the food was very friendly. Our only complaint was that the comforter on one bed had lip imprints (no kidding) on the underside in red lipstick. Not just one, but several, and on the underside of the comforter (had to turn it back to see them). Sort of left a weird impression of what might have gone on there previously. We just pulled the comforter off the bed and didn't report it though as we only were staying the one night.

“Good hotel for the price”

We only stayed one night passing through, and it was a great value for the price. The breakfast was really nice, the room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

“Experience does not match previous reviews”

I chose this hotel based on reviews on this site. Unfortunately I didn't have the same experience that others seem to have had. The staff were nice and helpful, but the room had insects, the bedclothes smelled strongly of vomitus, and the upholstery on the furniture had holes and burn marks. It has been my experience that the worst hotels in this chain are the quality and clarion, while the best are the sleep and comfort. That said, there is a comfort suites directly across the street from this hotel that I would recommend trying...I have yet to experience a mediocre stay at a comfort suites.
