Nice stay, bad food

Posted Apr 8, 2014
Pros: The room was clean, up to date and comfortable. The servers were nice and polite. The facilities were well maintained and up to date.
Cons: The food in the restaurant was not good and the service was poor.
The room was great and very comfortable. The service of the staff was nice and genuinely friendly. The accommodations were clean and up to date. The stay was excellent and relaxing. The fitness center was good and the pool was clean and spacious. Unfortunately, we decided to have dinner at the American Grill Restaurant inside the hotel and it was not good. The food was very poorly made and the service was almost as bad. The food tasted frozen and was really unappetizing. Our server made multiple errors. There were very few others in the restaurant. It wasn't busy and now we know why. Other than the one bad food experience, our stay was pleasant. I would recommend staying there, but eating elsewhere.

Good for a quick nights sleep

Posted Mar 17, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff, pretty clean
Cons: Different pillows in the room. Not hearing pets barking. Continental breakfast included.
Location: Don't know, only there for the night.
We just needed a stopover on the way to SC. The staff was very friendly & nice. The place was clean. I tend to only trust Hilton Garden Inn or Hampton Inn but this one was not the best. There were loads of pillows in the room , all the same, too flat & squishy. But the receptionist the next morning said I should have called about different pillows. Also next time I will think about picking a hotel that Does Not take pets. Luckily we had to get up early to leave, from our room we could hear a dog barking from 7:00 AM till we left the room about an hour and a half later. We decided to skip the breakfast buffet for an extra $10.00 and the usual cold eggs & bacon, though they said someone would make an omelet to order if wanted.

Felt very welcome

I checked in about midnight after driving about 700 miles that day. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and got me a room very quickly because she knew that I was very tired. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Nice hotel

Posted Mar 10, 2014
Pros: Everyone was very nice and friendly.
Cons: Need a second chair in room or someone has to sit on bed. The restaurant could be improved. The breakfast was cold and not very good.
Hotel was very nice. We called to say that we would be late checking because of a death and they held our room.

Convenient location in a quiet setting near hi-way

Posted Mar 10, 2014
Pros: Location is great for an interstate interchange hotel. Easy on and off the highway but no endless development at the doorstep.
Cons: The hotel should implement safeguards that would make it unlikley that a key to an occupied guest room could be issued to another guest.
Location: Plenty of dining options a couple miles north on I 95.
This Hilton property is situated one exit away from the commercial development at I95 exit 173 in Roanoke Rapids. The property is well maintained. After a long day on the road, check in was a bit rough. The staff assigned us a room that was already occupied. It was shocking to have a surprised occupant react to our unexpected entrance to his private guest room after 10 PM. After returning to the front desk the staff was apologetic and provided a voucher for a free breakfast. Unfortunately the rest of our night was somewhat anxious. We happen to stay on the night that daylight savings time moved clocks ahead one hour. The alarm clock in our room had a note that the time had already been set one hour ahead. Apparently the housekeeping staff was assigned to setting the clocks and the task must have been completed twice. We awoke an hour earlier than intended and had to wait for the restaurant to open so we could enjoy our breakfast before checking out.

not what I expected

Posted Mar 7, 2014
I thought it was a nice, until the 5 o'clock alarm on the TV woke us up. I mentioned this to the front desk to turn off the 5 a.m. Alarm on the TV, they said they have no control over this feature as only the cable provider can turn it off.. The bed was hard and my back was killing menthen whole night.would not recommend this hotel.

Nice rooms, front desk staff and location

Posted Mar 5, 2014
Pros: Almost all of the staff, nice room, good location
Cons: Waitress training
Hotel and facilities - 4* Restaurant - 2* Except for two things, this would been rated a 5-star. The one that relates to it as a place to sleep was an air conditioner that sounded like an airplane with clunking taking off during startup, which it did every fifteen minutes or so. That made sound sleeping impossible. The second item may not be totally fair as it specifically related to the evening meal service, not the rooms or facilities. It took 20 minutes for anyone to acknowledge our presence, 20 minutes to get a bottle of wine, 10 more to return with the wine we actually ordered, and both times she came with just the bottle and no opener. 40 minutes until she brought water. It was one hour and fifteen minutes to get our meal served, appetizer plates that we're not only just passable but also not hot. No checking back to see if it was Ok, no apology for the delay. Finally, we had to find another waitress to find ours for our check. Ok, so why not rate this a 1*? The place was crowded, likely far more than anticipated, due to road conditions. And, the extremely pleasant waitress at breakfast (Idina) started our morning with a smile and a pleasant customer-service demeanor. A very nice breakfast.
