Nice for the rate but there are better

Posted Sep 9, 2014
Pros: Location, staff, feel
Cons: Beds, linens,
Las Rocas is in a great location although not right on the beach. It is a 2 minute walk though. Rooms are very basic with just the bed, a small TV and fridge. Beds are uncomfortable and linens/covers need replacement. The porch with hammocks is awesome. Breakfast was good and varied every day. Staff was really nice and helpful. We had a nice time but based on the beds and overall room comfort I don't think we would choose it again, there are some other options for the same price.

Staff was great and rooms were cold! Only there for four days and all the staff knew who we were. Dive shop was great! No big group dives. There were 4 to 5 divers on all of out 6 dives. Highly recommend.

Okay if you don't set your standards too high

Posted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: The food was much better than the restaurant looked, for all meals, breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Cons: Office service. Wait staff who would actually come to you and take an order rather than expect you go up to bar to order.
Location: Diving, swimming, snorkelling, para-sailing, glass-bottomed boats, exucursions. Many are offered by unlicennsed operators with no liability insurance
Cobwebs in corners of bathroom, complete with dead spider. No soap dish in shower. Caulking needs replacement. Inadequate light. Mirror too low. Bed needs headboard. No safe in room. Checked passport with office for safekeeping, and they let me leave without it. Cost $25 to have a taxi send it to airport. No apologies from staff! Not really beachfront, as advertised. Have to walk about 300 m. to decent beach. Too many boats and hawkers in the area. Too noisy overall. Not suited to an older crowd. Would not return to area, even for the diving.

Great dive shop.

Pros: The people, location and dive shop.
Cons: Everything except the location, the people and the dive shop.
People were very nice. Dive shop was awesome. Hotel facilities were horrible. Beds were terrible. Not a comfortable place to sit or lie down on the entire site.

Las Rocas Resort And Dive Center

Posted Jul 15, 2014
Pros: Quiet location.
Cons: Horribly overused towels need replacement. No safes in rooms forcing us to use a safe in the reception. Too often no manager to open the safe!
Location: Quiet West Beach location within walking distance to the beach (5 min). Good restaurants withing 5-10 min walking distance.
Overall it was quite pleasant experience. Although the word "Resort' is quite misleading. It's very basic. Few vendors (a good thing for me).

Relaxing hotel, walking distance of night life.

Perfect, relaxing vacation. Don't take a cell phone, watch or alarm clock. Nothing to do but relax. Included breakfast from 8:00-10:00. Lunch and dinner prices were great. A nice walk down the beach in the morning cleared all senses. Night life was as peaceful or as musical and festive as you would like. Different restaurants had specials on different nights of the week. One had 2 lobster tails and two sides for $12. Another had three lobster tails and two sides for $16. The monkey tour at the nearby park was the best thing we did all week. Personal Bible reading was conducted in the hammock on my porch and on the Las Rocas deck on the edge of the calm water, while snorklers gently floated by. Will stay again!

Relaxing and quiet

Posted Jun 3, 2014
Pros: Quiet, comfortable, and reasonably priced.
Location: Snorkeling and diving were world class and had very easy access from the resort. Ziplining was great too with lots of choices on the island.
The resort was simple and relaxing with good food and atmosphere. Most everything could be done or planned from the resort. The water and reefs along West Bay were incredible.

Great little resort for diving

Posted May 29, 2014
Pros: Liked how quiet and rustic it is. We loved the location but if you want to be where the crowds are than you might want to look elsewhere.
Cons: It would be nice if there were coffee makers in the rooms
Location: We loved the location! It is very quiet.
Staff is very helpful. Divemasters Alex and Laura are excellent. Location is between the West End Bay beaches and the West End town. Great location if you do not want to be right on the crowded part of the beach. The included breakfasts were very good. It has a small private dock and beach but the swimming beach really is the West End Beach which is a short walk away. Its restaurant is actually very good - you should ask for your fish grilled if you don't want it fried in breading. The kitchen will cook up any fish you catch but you should tip the kitchen staff directly. We loved our stay here and would recommend it! Our bungalow had two beds, and was the perfect size for me, my wife and 12 year old son.

Perfect for the Low Maintenance Traveler

GREAT staff. Perfect location. Incredible food. Best hammock ever. Very small, laid-back, no-frills joint. Don't come here if you're looking for the Four Seasons (though you probably shouldn't go to Roatan at all if that's your style). I absolutely adored the friendly, inviting staff here, the relaxing pace, the delicious food. The "negatives" that others have mentioned are true; the mattresses are a bit too firm, the water has a bit of a sulfur-y smell at times, the bathrooms could use a bit of a makeover. But none of these things really bothered me in comparison to the overall wonderful atmosphere of this place. I will definitely be back.
