Traveled to Rochester for the solar eclipse in April 2023. Booked a large room with 2 beds and a pull out sofa for 2 adults and 4 kids. When we arrived we opened the door and were hit with the smell of cigarette smoke that made our eyes water. In addition there wasn't a couch in the room. We went back to the front desk and were told that Expedia made the mistake as they don't offer that combination, despite me saying my booking was for 6. I was told to contact Expedia. After close to an hour, the remedy was to put a roll out bed in the room. The person at the front desk agreed that the room smelled like smoke and propped the door open and the window and told us to put our luggage back in the car as we went out to dinner. When we got back, the smell had improved, but was still there. Also, they asked me to pay $20 in cash, for the extra person. Shady, but knowing most places were sold out from looking online for 4x the price, I paid.
2 days later as we were packing to go home, my wife grabbed what she thought was one of my kids hair ties from under the bed. It was a open condom. My kids got a life lesson on the birds and the bees, I got a great story, and this dump gets a terrible review.
