we tried something differentPosted Dec 1, 2013
Pros: it was clean, the bedding was warm and soft. easy to load and unload car.
Cons: Get rid of the egg frisbees. Clean up the eating area- get some none cloth covered chairs if you can't keep the chairs clean,
Location: shopping, restaurants, easy to freeway
We have stayed at other hotels in the area- we thought we'd try something different- to get a student a little further from campus. Next time I will go back to the hotels close to campus. When registering for a hotel and the word "suite" is in the description, do not assume that is means there will be a couch, or a place to sit and relax with a glass of wine. Do not assume you'll be able to sit on a couch in the room. Frankly, I don't know what the word suite refers to, but in this case it must mean 2 beds and a chair. And that to me does not mean suite. Do not plan to eat here. The chairs are full of food stains (I hope it was food stains), the offerings included NASTY fruit, obviously past it's prime, rubber egg-frisbees, greasy sausage, and bottom of the barrel watered-down orange pulp juice. When my 18 year old son made a waffle, the staff yelled at him and told him he poured too much batter in the waffle maker. If my husband or I would have seen this, I am sure there would have been a scene. And then we got charged for an extra person- despite having pre-pid for the extra person at the time I made reservations.

Clean, Comfy StayPosted Nov 10, 2013
Pros: The beds are very comfortable, and the color palette of the decor is pleasant. It was clean, quiet, and convenient.
Cons: The breakfast eggs and "Breakfast-to-Go" food could use an overhaul. To-go bags were dated 2 weeks prior to being served and the fruit wasn't chilled.
Location: Convenient location off I-390, but not so close you hear the traffic. Variety of restaurants & places to shop, as well as RIT, are just down the road.
I made my reservations through Expedia for a non-refundable early booking discount. When I tried to check in at 8:00pm, I was told they had no reservation for me. I called Expedia, which had a confirmation number, and they handled things at the hotel. On my return to the hotel, the manager apologized, but blamed it on Expedia. Since the hotel was pretty much booked, we ended up in a handicap room, which was fine. It turned out to be worth the initial hassle. Despite being next to the storage room and over the breakfast room, it was very quiet with the fan running. The room was quite clean for a room that likely didn't get much use. The beds were very comfortable, and we slept very well without any "first night adjustment" issues. Overall, we had a wonderful time. I would highly recommend this hotel, just double check with the hotel if you aren't booking directly through them. I look forward to staying there again some time.

Cons: Fitness facility is a joke. Couple of treadmills and an elliptical machine. Fire alarm went off at midnight. No instructions from hotel staff. Everyo
Location: Henrietta is a purgatory of suburban strip malls, big box stores and 4 lane roads.

Not a disaster but disappointing nonetheless.Posted Oct 22, 2013
Pros: Beds were clean and comfortable
Cons: A little more attention to details could help differentiate this hotel as a great place to stay from the so many also rans available to choose from.
Location: Good access to highways and amenities.
While staff were indeed nice, we don't go to a hotel for the conversation. We go to enjoy the clean and comfortable rooms and convenient services and amenities being offered. There were a couple of experiences during our stay where we felt the sevice was substandard and as a result really tainted our first impression of this hotel and Carlson Inns & Suites in general (this being our first time staying with Carlson). Firstly, we read so much about the good breakfasts, which was one of the selling points for us but on the first morning, there were eggs but no bacon or sausage. A sign saying "yogurt with fruit" but the only fruit consisted of blueberry pie filling. There were a few apples but no bananas or oranges. It wasn't that there was not enough to eat but little shortcomings like these made the whole breakfast seem ~meh. Also, there was a nasty stain on the bathroom wall. It was small, under the counter, not very obvious and out of the way but it was there. We couldn't be bothered to ask for a new room (and maybe that's our bad) but we did write a note to housekeeping asking them to clean it. When we got back though, it was still there. The rest of the room, the linens and hotel property was clean and the beds were comfortable and there was enough food (sausage on day two) so it wasn't a disaster but niggling disappointments like these really detracted from our overall experience and left us with the impression that the reviews we read were overrated.

Pros: The location and having a quiet room
Cons: Night time noise from the air conditioning /air vent system is always a problem for us due to sleeping problems.
Location: It's near food and other shopping if one needs something.
It was overall comfortable and welcoming. We had two small children and they were accommodated without any problems.
