“East End Mess”
The hotel was dirty and smelled of cigarettes. The air inside was musty and made me cough. While the people at the desk were nice, it was one of the worst hotels I had ever been to otherwise. Couldn't possibly recommend to anybody ever.
“Fine for passing through”
Fine for a night, but I wouldn't want to stay much longer than a weekend. Very friendly front desk personnel, although the lobby smelled of cigarettes and the weird glass doors to the 2nd floor hallway were a bit off-putting. I found a soda bottle cap under the bed, but otherwise the room was clean and comfortable.
“East Ave. Inn”
Our stay at the east avenue inn was based on its proximity to the Auditorium Theater, as we were seeing Billy Elliot that night. I went with friends and although check in was easy and friendly, when we arrived at our room it was clean but had seen better days. The walls had some sort of dried fluid running down the walls and the wall under the heater had been patched and not a good job of it to say the least. The windowsill had dead insects and dirt on it that appeared to have been there for quite a while. The beds were clean and comfortable. The bathroom was small and not stocked with more than 3 Kleenex in the only box, the shower had just enough pressure to dribble water out the shower head, and the bath itself was just what I would call clean and nothing better. The free internet was useless; there were three of us, all with different makes of laptops including a MacBook Pro (by the way connected the best) and we all had difficulty with the connection and two of us gave up after trying for half an hour. After the show we retired to our room for a few drinks and then off to bed, or so we thought. I am not sure what was going on that weekend but the noise from the rooms to the right, left, and above us sounded like there was a battle of some sorts going on with load banging and other noise till well after 2:00am. I found this hotel at acceptable at best. Not a place to bring the wife and certainly not the kids.
“Decent Crash Pad”
Spent 30 waking minutes in this place. Fine for the price. Location and value are great. Saw that they were going to renovate - a very good idea...
“OK except for the drunk people..”
The hotel was ok - nothing fancy but I didn't expect that for the price. Everything was perfectly suitable in terms of cleanliness/facilities. The location was stellar. However - I do have one big complaint. We stayed there on a Friday and Saturday night, and both nights, some extremely drunk people staying in a room across the hall came back at around 3 in the morning yelling up and down the hallway, slamming doors really hard, etc. This was definitely loud enough to wake me up even from a post-wedding pass out. Obviously this isn't the hotel's fault, but the reception area was right down the hall and they didn't do anything - ask the people to quiet down, etc. It was incredibly disruptive and made it hard to get any good sleep.
“Served the purpose”
Clean but old. It was very close to where our daughter's apartment is so the location was everything. No frills but it did have free Wi-Fi.
“Just okay”
Stains on ceiling above bed and makes you wonder if it starts raining will it leak. Sink in bathroom did not drain well at all and toilet handle would stick. Poor positioning of furniture and bed, making it difficult to get by.
“East Avenue”
Very bad, room is smilay, pricy for the quality. No way to recommend
“Rough room in a decent location”
This was a very convenient location in downtown Rochester. There are several bars / restaurants within walking distance. The condition of the room left quite a bit to be desired. The bathroom was tiny and not clean. The toilet handle had to be "jiggled" to stop it from running. The shower was old and moldy. The bed was about two feet off of the ground and okay at best. A decent place for a cheap rate room if you are just stopping over.
“Not Impressed but oh well...”
We stayed at the East Ave Inn solely for it's convenience and location in regards to bars and clubs at east and alexander. We found a cock-roach in the bathroom and the bed spread on one bed was ripped and gross. We have stayed there once a year on average for the last 4 years and If it wasn't for the fact that we had a bachelorette party and didn't want to ruin our plans we would have left and asked for our money back!
