Motel 6 is not worth saving a few dollarsPosted Aug 19, 2014
Pros: Price and price alone.
Cons: New mattresses are definitely needed. Pillows that haven't seen their better days. Staff actually attending the front desk.
Location: Very near NIU, many restaurants and shopping.
We spent four nights here while attending an antique tractor show...my husband, 12 year old grandson and I. My husband made the reservation here because of the low price, since we would probably not be spending much time in the room anyway. By the third morning, my grandson could hardly move after sleeping on the terrible mattresses. I was also stiff and sore, but attributed it to my age. He spent the day with back spasms and awful pain. We were still dealing with his stiffness and pain two days after going home. The mattresses had a valley down the center, so that two people sleeping together ending up rolling to the middle. One person alone in the bed had to cling to the edge to avoid rolling. The pillows were so flat you need three of them to equal a normal pillow...but, sorry, only two to a bed. There was a refrigerator and microwave in the room, bolted together. We thought that was a nice surprise for a lower-end motel...until we realized the refrigerator wasn't plugged in, and the cord wouldn't reach ANY outlet. When we called the front desk about it they told us to just move the refrigerator in front of the desk so it would reach!!! They also said there are a couple rooms like that! Excuse me???

Nice Pet Friendly HotelPosted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: Clean, Quiet and Pet Friendly
Cons: Check to make sure the refrigerator is plugged in. We didn't, the water we brought or our dog wasn't cold the next morning.
Location: Go To Farm and Fleet, fun store to shop at. Great prices on dog toys. For breakfast go to Egg Haven, ample portions, great price, coffee was decent.
We were in town for one night for a wedding. It was close to the venue and price was right. We didn't need anything fancy, its close to several restaurants and shopping. Our dog was invited to the wedding too, so it was important to find a pet-friendly hotel close by. Air-conditioning unit worked well and was quiet - that's a BIG plus.

VERY COMFORTABLE FOR A GREST PRICEPosted Aug 4, 2014
The first thing I noticed is that the neighborhood/area seemed safe. The room was small but very nicely set up. Comfortable. The plug was over the bed table bi plugged my phone in and the cord reached to the middle of the bed. Perfect. Great mattress. That's unusual. Good coffee. Clean. The only thing I noticed was the carpet in the elevator need cleaning. Lighting was good for reading.

Nice place. Staff seemed really tired although it was 6 in the evening. Other than that the place was decent.

Good motel in a PinchPosted Jul 30, 2014
My stay there was a good one, room was clean,no waiting. My only issues were thatthe motel advertised that there would be a Iron and irironing board but there was none. Also the AC had a foul odor coming from it when on,luckily I didnt need it so I turned it off....so if the staff is reading this please fix the AC in room 118.

Great if you're looking for a clean place to sleepPosted Jul 27, 2014
Pros: The price.
Cons: The staff could have been present at the counter more. I got tired of waiting for someone to check me out, so I just l left the key on the counter.
Location: Its nestled, next to a pond--but the hotel is on the edge of DeKalb and Sycamore. Plenty of restaurants--about 4 miles from NIU.
It was a very affordable room--I got a single queen, it was not a spacious room but they made good use of their space. I watched tv--plenty of channels. The a/c worked great, the bed was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was clean and in good condition. If I had a family with me, it would be too cramped, but for just me it was all I needed. It was nice not to have to overpay for stuff I didn't need. There is no breakfast room (but right next door to a Dunkin Doughnuts.) There was a small exercise room, I didn't use it. Overall, it was a great stay and the price was the best part.

very convenient and servicablePosted Jul 18, 2014
Pros: The price was right for an extended stay and the hotel was conveniently located for my father's needs
Location: We used the hotel because my dad was having eye surgery at Hauser-Ross in Dekalb. The hotel is within 1/2 mile of the Doctor and the surgicenter.
Arrangements were for my father who needed handicap accessible facilities. The hotel accomodated this even though we had booked online and were happy to extend the say at the same rate when his appointments were delayed by a day.

Surprisingly Nice!Posted Jul 17, 2014
Pros: Clean, quiet and inexpensive.
Cons: Upgrade the televisions and add the Food Network :)
Location: You're only a few miles from Northern Illinois University and there is just about everything you could want for food and shopping within a mile.
This is a very nice Motel 6. I was in a Queen room that was very comfortable, but small. For one person it was great and even though the room was cramped, the bathroom was very good sized. This room was extremely clean and I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling through the DeKalb/Sycamore area. Entrance to the hotel was a little tricky as the hotel sits behind a Giordano's and Dunkin Donuts and is easy to miss. There was nothing but coffee served in the morning, but for the price of the room I was more than happy to go out to eat.

Best Hotel in DeKalb-Sycamore AreaPosted Apr 20, 2010
This America's Best Value Inn was very clean with friendly staff with its close promixity to Northern Illinois University and both stores and restaurants on DeKalb Ave. To me, this is the best hotel I have ever stayed in this whole area because based on my past experiences of staying in various hotels throughout DeKalb, they were not that great. The only complaint I had about this hotel was its complimentary breakfast because I only saw orange juice, apple juice, coffee, and just bagels. They could have offered an additional option of hot scrambled eggs and bacon off the mini cooking device like some hotels do.

As above stayed here for 3 night starting on December 26th and was nice to have a bug free room and friendly and helpful folks in charge. They also felt bad for the pain my daughter had even walking around due to the bad ankle sprain she had falling on icy and snow covered steps at the place before.
