Will stay again!Posted Oct 9, 2014
We arrived before check in time and were given the choice of 2 rooms - which was great. We took the upstairs room. Loved every minute of our stay. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Gave us terrific advice as to where to go to eat. We told them our preferences for each meal and they pointed us in the right direction. All meals were fabulous. Our breakfast was a peaceful way to start the day. We enjoyed starting our day without having to think about where to go. It was all laid on. (Although eggs were always hard - difficult to have eggs cooked to perfection when cooked ahead of time) The trains did not bother us at all - in fact we did not hear one until breakfast on the second day. We stayed in Room 11. We had initially booked for one night but enjoyed it so much we stayed for two!! Loved every single minute of our stay and will definately return again.

A Classy Colonial HotelPosted Nov 4, 2013
Pros: It was extremely charming, but well looked after.
Cons: Nothing, it was lovely.
Location: We headed across the road to the pub, where we enjoyed a nice pub meal and watched the "rodeo", which was very entertaining.
Upon arrival, we walked through the beautiful gardens to check in. The key was given to us automatically, which was a nice technological surprise (based on the very classical look of the property), however, did not put us off. When we opened the door to the room, we discovered we had the room that is in the photographs and was simply wonderful. The room itself was very clean and tidy, but very sympathetic with the age of the building and the furniture was obviously made specifically. Breakfast the next morning was very nice and perfect for our needs. Really happy that we chose this hotel and looking forward to returning.

Complimentary breakfast and wifi - a great hotelPosted Nov 28, 2012 on Hotels.com
Lovely refurbished room, warm welcome, very comfy bed, complimentary breakfast and free wifi made for a near perfect stay. Only slight issue was a bit of traffic noise but that is because of the period features which I certainly wouldn't want to see changed. Would always stay here on any trips to Rockhampton.

Nice Hotel but Location LackingPosted Dec 28, 2011
The hotel is in an industrial section of the town. If we had arrived after dark we would not have stayed. However the room had a great bed and was quite large. The renovation of the 1885 building was quite nice. We enjoyed the comfortable couch to watch TV and the canopy bed was very comfortable. The morning brekki was one of the best I had after spending 6 months in AU. The hotel across the street had a very nice bufffet on Friday night. The added bonus was practice bull riding.

great room and furniture, shame about the lack of double glazing to block out the train and traffic noise
