Comfy, excellent location - walk to downtown Estes

Posted Dec 9, 2014
Pros: The rooms by the river connect by stairs connecting the rooms immediately upstairs and downstairs from each other. A BLAST for extended families.
Cons: Some of the 2 queen rooms could use a bit more paint and light. King rooms are FAR more nice.
Location: 4 block walk to downtown. We did it nightly in 20 degree weather. Huge array of great restaurants, shopping, loved the craft beers at Wapiti Grill.
Very, very nice experience. We originally booked a 2 queen room off of the river, but when we arrived, Stephanie showed us the room we had reserved, and showed us another option for slightly more. We took a king by the river with a nice back deck, a fireplace, and a sofa (with a very sleepable bed, unlike most other sofa beds.) King bed very comfortable. We had a LOT of room, and a fantastic view of the mountains from room 201. 201 and 203 seem to have the best views from upstairs. We borrowed a board game from the office, and after long daytime hikes in Rocky Mtn Nat'l Park, we would grab a bite from Wapiti Grille (4 blocks away downtown), have a craft beer, and then eat in the room with the fire. Soak in the nice hot tub, and enjoyed the 9ft deep heated indoor pool as well. My only hangup was the room design - one cannot see the HDMI flat TV from the bed, as the bed faces the other direction. We viewed it as an opportunity to enjoy the fire in the living and TV area instead. LOVED the lodge, and will be back. They are like family there - even invited us to watch Thursday Night Football with their family in the large TV room up above the pool. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Great Hotel, amazing staff and perks!!

Posted Dec 8, 2014
We loved it!!! They worked with us to arrange late check in which was a breeze!! Same with check out! We saw a huge Elk the second we pulled in, so exciting! Large room with a comfy king bed, fridge, microwave, coffee etc and well kept! The river outside our room/balcony was gorgeous, we left the windows open so we could listen to it while falling asleep! Breakfast was delish, indoor hot tub/pool! 10% off returning customers and they give you a free picture of you on their adorable huge rocking chair & frame it for free! Walking distance to downtown and restaurants! If you want a colorado experience this is a great pick! We went in the off season (December) so it was really quiet, walls are a little thin if you're going when it's crowded. The town is wonderful, everyone was beyond nice! First time in Colorado and I'm officially in love with the place! Will be back!

Good Hotel walking distance from shopping

Posted Nov 11, 2014
Pros: close to shopping, close to nature.
Cons: Maybe a warmer color on the walls, and a pillow top mattress:)
Location: Walking distance to shops was ideal. Right next to a running stream, very beautiful scenery.
Rooms were clean and well kept. The bed was a bit hard for my taste, but reasonable. The only thing that bothered me was the big "ping" the heater duct would make occasionally during the night. Woke up to the sounds of a big herd of elk out front of the hotel, which was why I booked based on the pictures, because I'm a big nature fan:) Was not disappointed:)

Close to town

Posted Nov 9, 2014
This is a clean, comfortable hotel within blocks of Estes Park. It's right next to the river. Continental breakfast consisted of breads, bagels, muffins, cereal -- nothing hot, but adequate. Good wi-fi. The only real drawback is the small bathroom; it's very difficult for more than one person at a time.

Right on the edge of town

Posted Nov 4, 2014
Pros: The location is ideal so we didn't have to drive into town.
Cons: Something to suppress the noise from the second floor.
Location: Right at the edge of town within walking distance to shops and restaurants. We had a delicious burger at The Grubsteak and drinks at Lonigan's.
Just a short walk into town. The hotel staff was friendly and courteous. They have a library of popular DVDs for when you retire for the night - it's a good thing because the TV reception was horrible. The room was spacious, clean, and comfy. Continental breakfast was adequate. I was hoping for eggs and sausage/bacon but it was only cold food. The only aspect of the stay was the noise coming from the couple above us that had a little toddler. He must have had a ball that he was bouncing all night long and running after it. I suppose there just isn't enough insulation between the two floors to suppress the noise. Oh well, we've got two kids of our own so we know how it goes.

Wonderful people, hard bed

Posted Oct 28, 2014 on Hotels.com
I would hoped for and anticipated a more luxurious bed given that the hotel is marketed as a romantic getaway. The bed was hard and disappointing. The staff, however, were SO nice and welcoming!
