Pre-cruise hotel in Civitavecchia
Posted Jan 18, 2012 on Hotels.com
Ideally located between the train station and the port where the Norwegian ship sailed from. Very helpful front desk staff, and quite nice breakfast buffet, with espressos and cappuccinos upon order, included.

Excellent breakfast and local market fun
Posted Jan 21, 2012 on Hotels.com
Breakfast was excellent, varied and had protein for those who can't have a full carbohydrate meal. The local street market on tourist maps near hotel is neat with clothing and gizmos for locals and a great selection of souvenirs that are a real bargain (2-3 euros for glass pendants). Civitavecchia is clean with genial people and no street crime. McDonalds across from port entry has free wi-fi with a purchase. Great port to travel from-to as can easily walk to port entry where ship buses will take you to your ship. We checked-in 2 days before cruise to adjust to time change & sleep cycles.

Perfectly positioned for our needs

The hotel is maybe a 100 meters from the Train Station and right next door to the Herz car rental....and about two blocks from the church. It was the perfect location to take a train from Rome and pick up a rental car while avoiding the Rome traffic. Our room overlooked the Sea and the cruise shiips were visibile in the port. We had stayed in the very same room in 2005 so there was a nostalgic significance for us. For us, this hotel remains special.

Cruise Pre-stay over
Posted Jan 17, 2012 on Hotels.com
The hotel was convenient (close) to the train station and for the shuttle at the port entrance. The location worked well for me in controlling costs if that is possible on a European trip. The cruise lines want a lot for the bus trips to and from the Rome airport. We paid 11 euros pp for the train ride down. It did involve a change of trains at Tranverde which was a minor difficulty because no train agents were there to assist. Of course you also have to hump your bags. I would suggest taking the train to Roma from the airport and getting a non-stop down to Chitavechia. More euros, but easier and quicker. We took a private bus (they solicited us) located at the port entrance back to the airport at 20e pp so I am not able to personally verify how the trip to Roma/airport would work out. The train would have been 15 euros per person to Roma and I do not know the cost from Roma to the airport. The hotel was fine for a stop over which is what we were doing. It's a roof over your head and a bed. Nothing exciting, but not a Motel 6 either. The Europeans do know how to charge, but that is the way it is over there. God Bless America! The free breakfast was good. I would also consider the hotel restaurant for dinner. It might be okay. We went out and could not find much. The meal we got was a bust. I know there is suppose to be good food in Italy, but we have not been able to find it yet. Our fault, but we always pray for an Olive Garden after we eat. God Bless America again!

If you are taking a cruise the location is great. Almost right next to the train station and a five minute walk to the ship shuttle which are free. Very nice staff. Would stay here again.

Perfect for a pre-cruise overnight stay.

4 star rating a bit deceptive by UK standards.I have stayed in 4 star hotels in Italy previously and compared to them this hotel is very good.We used this Hotel as it was in walking distance from the cruise port,a free shuttle bus then takes you to the ships. The surrounding area was good and the local restaurants were good value.Quiet rear room, very friendly and helpfull, breakfast acceptable.
