Basic, no frills, excellent location for the price

Posted Jul 15, 2014
Pros: Location and price
Cons: Staff!
Location: Central Rome and all of the sights, it's literally a 10 minute stroll to the Colleseum
If you want a basic no frills bed and a bathroom type of place this is the place for you. The price was excellent, the bed was comfortable, the room was clean and it was walkable to most of the main sites in Rome. We arrived late, after our minibus shuttle couldn't find the place and did panic as there was nobody answering the bell, but calling the number on the board on the wall summoned a very helpful man although he was the only person we saw all stay, but then we we only came back to sleep and shower! Breakfast (coffee & croissant) is not worth the walk up the road unless you are on a really really tight budget, but there is a kitchen for residents use and a fridge in the room. All in all a good basic b&b.

OK Facility for the price. Good location.

The room was okay- had a nice balcony and a little fridge. Not bad for the price. The real negative we had was checking in. When we arrived at the building we could not find the office, then finally found it and knocked and rang the bell for 20 minutes with no answer. We finally got someone to let us in and he took us down the street to another hotel where we would actually be staying, not the one we booked. Overall it was a decent stay, but plan extra time to check in.

Excellent value for money

Posted Apr 20, 2014
Pros: Location, value for money, friendly staff
Location: Close to Lateran, Colloseum, Santa Maria Maggiore
Ariosto is very decent bed & breakfast on an excellent location in the very center of Rome, for a price that cannot be beaten, especially if you prebook and pre-pay. I stayed there with family for a week, and was perfectly OK. If you ask nicely, owner will go out of his way to help with any needs and problems (transportation, supply, advice). I realise that others had different experiences, but speaking only for myself (and my family) I was perfectly happy with my stay especially considering value for money, in one of the most expensive cities in the world for the tourist. Pros: Location and the owner/operator
Cons: Breakfast, bathroom and soundproofing
Location: So close to the colosseum and metro/termini not far away either
The gentleman who let us in and looked after us was -very- nice and helpful, and knew we were coming when we did. There was a communal kitchen with a microwave which was helpful, as well as coffee making facilities (although no milk). Location was excellent, just down the road from the colosseum and the metro was not far away. However.... Other rooms were very loud and disruptive (which we've found to be a European thing) so bring earplugs. The shower pressure/heat is shared with all other rooms so as long as no one else is using the water it's ok, but otherwise it is a bit lacking. The toilet was at an angle because the bathroom was that small. The 'breakfast' it comes with is just a voucher for a cafe near the metro - not at all what we expected and we ended up having to get other breakfasts. All in all, good for one night or a place to crash if you just need a bed to sleep in but otherwise, (if you're there for a couple nights like we were) it's probably best to spend that bit extra and find somewhere nicer.

Pros: Everything
Cons: Not a thing
Location: Said it above, just a great location.
We liked it so much, we reserved a night upon our return to Rome after travelling to La Spezia. Highly recommend and great location, great staff, and at a terrific price for being in Rome, only blocks frome the Colisium and great restaurants and the Metro.

Great B&B

Posted Sep 15, 2010
My husband and I stayed at this small B&B and we had a wonderful experience. There is a small elevator so it was easy to get our bags up to our room. The owner was very nice and accomodating. We initially booked a room with a shared bathroom but changed to a larger room with a private bathroom, which wasn't too expensive and it was well worth it. The rooms are simple and clean, nothing fancy but it's perfect if you are traveling on a budget and are not going to spend a lot of time in your room. You get a small breakfast in the morning as part of the room charge. Theres is a TV with cable, but when you are in Rome, who watches TV. We did end up having to pay in cash because the credit card machine didn't take cards without a chip. The people in the other room did smoke so if you have issues with that, I guess you won't like the place that much, but everyone in Europe smokes. I loved staying there though because it felt like a more authentic experience. Hotels in Italy are sometimes not clean, but this place was great, it was like staying at a friends house. The B&B is close to the coliseum and other tourist areas, (long walk, but the bus ride is really short)and there is a bus stop on the main street. The area is pretty safe. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and I would recommend this place to my friends and family.
