Terrible hotel more than an hour outside Rome

Posted Aug 12, 2014
Pros: There was some information about how to reach Rome but we had requested a hotel near the city centre not more than an hour outside.
Cons: Hard mattress, faulty hair drier, socket and shower door, TV was not securely fastened to the wall, marks, paint patches and holes in the wall.
Location: This 'hotel' was an apartment building in a residential street more than an hour outside Rome on foot, bus and Metro with nothing to do nearby.
Firstly, we have been informed by Expedia that the 'hotel manager' was suppose to arrange our transfers from the airport to the 'hotel' which they failed to do. The 'hotel' was in fact an apartment that had been split into rooms. Their 'front desk service' was only there for about half an hour when we checked in and we did not see anyone for the rest of the time we were there. We went into Rome city centre (which took about an hour to reach on foot, bus and Metro) and had a night time Segway tour (which was fantastic) which finished at around 11.00pm. When we arrived at the 'hotel' at about midnight (bearing in mind this is a 24 hour 'hotel') we could not get in. This is in the middle of a residential street and after the Metro had closed so we had no option but to sit on the doorstep. After half an hour of calling the three different numbers available (one on their emails, one on their Facebook and one outside the gate) we were told there was a switch to open the door. Obviously, this information would have been more useful half an hour earlier. After an uncomfortable night on a hard mattress, we found the hair drier and electrical sockets did not work, the shower door was defective, there were marks, paint patches and holes in the wall and the TV was not securely fastened to the wall. We were so disappointed with the standard of the room and service provided we arranged for alternative accommodation in the city centre.

Poor communication

Posted May 29, 2014
Location: difficult to find. no visible signs in the nearby area
the contact number for the hotel on the website did not match the one at the front door. Moreover, the person who answered the phone did not speak any other language besides Italian. It also said on the website that they can arrange transport to the airport for 20 euro but once we asked about it they could only reserve a taxi and could not guarantee the price (which ended up to be a lot more than 20 euro at the end). very disappointing in terms of communication

Good, affordable and clean but not central

Posted Mar 20, 2014 on Hotels.com
Overall we had a good stay at the hotel. Central Rome is very expensive. So, it was nice to find an affordable and clean place to stay. We did have some minor issues (shower drain blocked, kettle and dvd cord missing) but the staff tried their best to fix the problem as soon as possible. We never saw them but they did respond quickly to our emails.

an ok stay

Posted Nov 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
Location was kind of in the middle of no where. We only got the room since it was the only place we can find that had 3 bedrooms and fit 10 people. We had no hot water during our stay. We had to hook up the cable ourselves and it was a little confusing at first. There was no staff there when we checked in. One of the other guests had to let us in and give us the keys to our rooms. Other than that, it was an ok stay. Wi-Fi was fast and the place was overall clean.

Not returning

Posted Jul 12, 2013
Pros: Very little
Cons: Lots
Location: Location was ok. But the locals helped us find things not the invisible staff.
Water in the floor. Needed to use the mismatched towels to dry it up. The did work and left the place dusty. Made the bed once in 4 days. The cabinet fell on us. It was not mounted to the wall. The wifi didn't work.

great guest house

Posted Sep 3, 2012 on Hotels.com
the staff were so helpful explaining how to get into town and even giving us personal mobile num if needed them which we did when got lost. It is in a lovely residential area so quiet but easily enough to reach the city. I would happily stay there again
