“A good and economical hotel option while visiting Rome.”
The hotel is one block down from Via Nationale and three blocks from the Piazza of the Republic; its location is in the downtown area of Rome. You are at a walking distance a subway station, museums, the Termini Train Station and some of the ancient churches in Rome. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The staff is always available and willing to assist. be advised that the rooms do not have air conditioning, in case you plan to visit Rome during the summer. A good and economical hotel option to stay while visiting Rome.
“Awesome value in central Rome”
Know what to expect out of Europe before you travel there for the first time. Compared to the U.S., accommodations are quite different. Bathrooms are small, shower stalls are narrow, beds can be small and uncomfortable. If you already expect these things, or have traveled to Europe and know what to expect, you will be perfectly happy at this hotel. Clarin is in a great location (10 min. walk to Colosseum), since I'm familiar navigating Roman streets I was able to locate the hotel easily (others have said it's poorly signed, but there is a black and white sign at the doorway of the building). The hotel is on the 2nd floor (3rd floor for us that count the ground floor as #1) and is only 21 rooms. The staff, all four of them, were fabulous. Do yourself and them a favor and know some Italian before you go - none of them speak fluent English, but most speak at least a little bit. Muhammad was a fabulous host, helping with breakfast every morning, would be back by the late afternoon, watched over the hotel all night, I swear he only took 4 hours off each day. He knows hardly any English, but a conversation in broken Italian was great fun. Room was made ready for us ASAP when we arrived early for check in and we could SMELL the cleanliness of our room once we got down the hall. Some rooms overlook the street, so be prepared for road noise, but in my book that's nothing to complain about. Loved our trip, were comfortable and happy, and will be back!
“Clarin Hotel no frills, reasonable price.”
This hotel is a 2 star hotel. No frills, just the basics. If you aren't spending a lot of time in the hotel and luxury isn't important to you, this place would do. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Big bay windows. This hotel reminds me of a Motel 6. It's in the city so it is close to everything. The closest historical attraction is the Coliseum. The day shift speaks English, but the night shift does not. You need to buzz the front desk to get into the building, which is a good security aspect. it's annoying if they don't buzz you in right away. The breakfast was ok, cereal, yogurt, ham and cheese, and croissants. Great cappuccino and late'. Has internet in the lounge area for 7 euros for your entire stay.
“Do not be fooled by the good price for its location, the hotel is not even worth that much!”
The hotel is situated on the second floor of an old building. To enter you need to take an old and small wire-cage elevator (big enough for 2 people and one bag, the elevator has 2 doors which you need to open and close manually every time upon entry and exit). Once you reach the second floor, you need to manually open the door to your right which enters the humble area of reception and breakfast room. If you come back to the hotel at a late hour or anytime during the weekend, the main door to the building will be closed and you will need to ring a bell (which might be answered by an Italian speaking gentleman (one of the 5 personnel we encountered during our 4 night stay) who might not always open the door when you say: "Hi, we are your guests." The personnel don't all speak English and those who do cannot always direct you to where it is you want to go. The breakfast is quite early in the morning (up to 9) and is very modest. At one instance the mixed fruit bowl they offered tasted funny. The room was cleaned every morning, but we found a big spider in it (this was perhaps because due to the lack of air conditioning in the hot Roman August, we had to open up the view-less window to our room). The bathroom was small and uncomfortable, with a window right behind the toilet with a translucent covering. Because of the lack of a fan in the bathroom, we needed to open the bathroom window which let in bugs, not to mention the uncomfortable feeling of being watched.
“Great location”
The hotel was what we expected. Small room with no view but clean, very friendly and helpful staff. Cheap room for someone looking to spend more time touring Rome than enjoying the room.
“cheap hotel in good location”
i will back to this hotel, but if u have kids maybe its not sogood, the shower was to small even for me i'm 5'2',but location, location, location for not to much moneyeverythingelse was fine.If u want to visit rome, young and dont have too much money...this is the hotel for you
“Good for the money!”
This little hotel has an excellent location, although it is rather basic in comfort. Staff were friendly. I would recommend it. You get your money's worth.
“Not impressed”
This hotel on 2-nd floor of old building. Clean small rooms, without free internet. Ordinary old hotel in the historical center of Rome.
“worst hotel in my trip”
very very bad, there is no clear sign outside that says "Clarin hotel", the outside door is a heavy dark old door, the rooms are humid and small, to get to the front desk you have to take the old elevator to the 1st floor, which apparently is very common in Rome in these old buildings. for the same rate, in other cities in Europe we have stayed in much better hotels. If you go to Rome I strongly recommend spending a little extra, and stay in a 3 star hotel with the front desk in the entrance of the building, as most normal hotels have. Also, stay away from the hotels near the Roma Termini station, the area in horrible. this was the only hotel in our trip that we were not satisfied at all.
“Was least expensive in historical center”
The hotel at Expedia was not cheap, still least expensive at historical center.
