Great location. Huge room
Posted Jan 27, 2013
Pros: Location excellent. Clean. Good breakfast. Ok staff.
Cons: Staff could be friendlier with directions, suggestions, cabs etc.
Location: Very central to Spanish steps, Temini, Via Veneto, Museums
Very interesting rooms huge with outside common area with trompe oeil ceiling. Some courtyard noise since facility also host "events" but no street noise. Good breakfast with excellent cappuccino but same every day. Mattress a bit hard. Very clean. Staff generally ok but a bit overwhelmed at times on "event days". Hotel was a good value overall.

Price equaled the quality

Pros: Breakfast
Cons: Noisy
Location: Close to Republica Metro. I think walking def. took us bit longer to get to everything then estimates because we didn't know where to go.
Arrived a little early so we waited in the Lobby while they hurried to clean our "new" room because we wanted to have 2 beds not 1 double since I was traveling with a friend. Upon entering we inspected the mini bar and 2 bottles had been left opened and partially used also bathroom floor had lots of hair behind the door. Needed to call front desk to: Clean bathroom floor. Verify Mini-Bar. Get instructions on the T.V. Wifi signal is so week we couldn't even use it in the rooms. Friday night music was LOUD from the room down stairs till the wee hours of the morning and the rooms are not sound proof so you feel like your waking up in a bird sanctuary. There is a court yard in the middle of the hotel which our bedroom window faced and you could hear everything going on in the courtyard. Breakfast was wonderful. Bathroom and room size was big and location was central.

Good, central 3* hotel

Domus Romana is centrally located in Rome, just off the Via Nazionale. It's about 10 minutes walk from the Trevi Fountain and about 15 to the Spanish Steps. You can also easily walk to all other sites in the Centro Storico, including the Colosseum. So the hotel is very well located for sightseeing. Our room (308) in the hotel was extremely spacious and had a beautiful ceiling. We had a large main room with two large double beds, where our children slept, and a decent sized double room next to this. The bathroom was of an average size and windowless but included a bath. The size of the accommodation would have been significant in my rating had we not paid a large premium for this benefit when we booked. Additionally although the size was impressive, the decor was tired. There was wallpaper peeling off the walls in our bedroom and scruffy aspects like this would have been easy to fix with a bit more TLC. I think the main things that stopped the hotel being more than average were the friendliness of the reception staff and the quality of the breakfasts. Staff on reception were professional and helpful when required but no more. Perfectly adequate but not warm or inviting. They made the stay feel very much transactional - a case of you pays your money you gets a room for the night. Breakfasts were no more than adequate and did nothing to excite me or the family.

Convenient location, large, comfy,clean rooms
Posted Jan 26, 2012
Pros: Large comfortable rooms. Good breakfast that starts early (7:00AM).
Location: Convenient location. Close to the metro station Piazza Repubblica, a lot of buses through Via Nazionale, Termini station in a walking distance,
Very convenient location. We stay as a group in hotel in a couple of rooms. I can tell that both rooms were very clean and cozy and what's very important large!!(in Rome it's very rare), high ceiling. One of the rooms was designed very good, another room was a little dark(we were in November) but summer time I believe it's very good keep the shade an cool. Good breakfast, most you need were there. Nice, very helpful people at the front desk, good service.

Family suite for up to 4 children in Rome
Posted Jan 31, 2012
Pros: Convenient family accommodation.
Cons: A little dated.
Location: Not next door to any one tourist sight but within walking distance of all except Vatican, which was a convenient tube journey away.
The family room suited us perfectly as our three children could sleep on two double sofa beds in the sitting room and we had a separate bedroom. There was a kitchenette although we didn't use it.

Excellent choice for quality of facility and location relative to transportation and sites of interest. Our room included a mini kitchen with dishes and cooking gear. As expected, breakfast was included in the room price and was standard offering for Europe - all fresh and tasty. Would use again without question.

No hot water
Posted Jan 6, 2012 on Hotels.com
We were there 2 nights and had no hot water. When we asked the hotel staff we were told there was an issue in the street with a broken gas line only to find out from other guests that they had no problem with the water. If it was a gas line issue it would have affected everyone.
