“Hope to Go Back!”
We loved the hotel and the area in which it was located. The staff was incredibly friendly and very patient with our lack of ability to speak Italian. Breakfast was delicious, with a wide variety of fruits, meats, cheese, and pastries. We loved the scenic walk down to Trastevere, where we had some of the best meals of our trip. I would definatly reccomend this hotel to anyone taking a trip to Rome!
“Great hotel.....good walk to most places”
We picked this hotel because of certain reviews. None of them made it clear the hotel is at the top of a steep hill. As it turns out, the exercise was great as we needed it after all the great dinners down in town. It is about a 20 minute brisk walk away from the main section of Trastevere. The hotel itself is great! Very beautiful with a friendly staff, clean, and quiet.
“"Rome's Best Kept Secret?"”
I have stayed in some of the top rated hotels in Rome over the years, but this hotel is still my favorite. It's location is the best, while nestled in a very upscale residential area with a lot less traffic noise than you get in some of the other areas, but within walking distance of some of Rome's largest attractions. The food there is great and the staff were delightful and most understood or spoke English. The hotel structure itself is historic in nature and very well managed with special attention to detail in the outdoor garden areas. There is only one little negative comment that I would add and that is the fact that there is a "Childrens Hospital" right around the corner and you do hear your share of sirens. This could be a positive thing if you are traveling with children, though. The good quality windows, when closed made the room very quiet. I highly recommend this hotel for business or pleasure if you are looking for that special place to call"home away from home in Rome".
“Not pleased”
The hotel grounds were beautiful, but the condition of our room was horrible. This was the first time I booked through Expedia, and if this is the quality of the rooms they give your clients, I would hesitate to use Expedia again.
“A fine stay”
The hotel is situated in a really nice neighbourhood and although a bus stop is nearby, it is also a nice walk down hill to the city center by means of which you discover one of the nicest dining areas of Rome in beautiful small streets. However, the hotel seems to be a little past its glorious days. The room was really small and it was not as luxury as expected. Nevertheless, the service was good, the swimming pool really nice (although they charge you EUR 5 for the bading caps, I would suggest to provide these for free to the guests as the hotel requires it) and the breakfast was also great.
“Loved it”
Very beautiful, close to lovely views of the city and one of our favorite neighborhoods, Trestavere. We found this hotel purely by chance on Expedia the morning we learned we were stuck in Europe an extra five days because of the volcano. We feel we really got lucky finding such a wonderful place. The breakfast buffet was fabulous and well stocked, and the dining room was elegant. It was very clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. We were happy to find great food on a short walk down steps to Trestavere, as well as a great little inexpensive Osteria around the corner.
“Hello Roma and Hotel Del Gianicolo”
The hotel was off the beaten tourist route nestled in a fine neighborhood within 2 blocks of public transportation.Streets are well lit and feel safe. Most of the staff understood Englsh very well and about half could speak English well. The hotel is very European with a toilet, bath/shower and a bidette., but had a very American mini-bar refrigerator. Breakfast buffet was wonderful with fresh baked croissants and other breads along with scramble eggs, bacon, ham and cheeses, coffee, teas, juices, cereals and expresso, cappuchino, and fruit! Housekeeping accomodated times when we were gone to clean, although fresh glasses were not provided. A safe is in the room to use at no extra charge. The key to the room is left at the front desk upon leaving the hotel, so there is no worry about losing your key.
“Roman Holiday”
It was a nice hotel, though fairly typical of European hotels. I was there in January so I was not able to take advantage of the nice outdoor pool area. The hotel is somewhat secluded from typical tourist destinations but very close to bus stops. The hotel offered 2 hours of free internet access which I took advantage of to stay in touch with work and personal emails. The breakfast buffet was more typical of a European breakfast, but did serve scrambled eggs and bacon.
“Great Hotel”
Charming hotel in a beautiful neighbourhood. We found the location great - short walk to restaurants of Trastevere - or about 25 minutes to Vatican or Historic Center. Bus stops are nearby and are an excellent way to get around. The hotel has a nice pool area and a lovely breakfast room with a wide selection of cereals, pastries, meats and cheeses for breakfast. Even has two choices for eggs - hard boiled or scrambled. There is complimentary tea/coffee along with cookies set out in the bar area all day long. Staff were very helpful with information. Great experience!!!

Area:
Trastevere - Monteverde, Rome, Italy: Across the River Tiber, Trastevere is a well-established boho chic quarter, full of local character. The patchwork of tiny, cobbled streets houses many bars, good restaurants and buzzing nightlife spots. There is also a treasure trove of medieval churches. In its own piazza, the beautiful Santa Maria in Trastevere has shimmering golden mosaics and was probably Romes first Christian basilica, founded in 222 AD.
