Our stayPosted Feb 25, 2014
Location: Shopping and restaurants are out the front door. Most of the "major" attractions were within a 20 min or less work.
The hotel was a VERY pleasant hotel. The staff was very approachable and extremely helpful with maps and directions. The location was perfect and very accessible to everything. Very safe

Great building, not so great staffPosted Jan 27, 2014
Pros: location, room, lobby
Cons: everything else
No doorman for a 5 star hotel, pretty sad. One receptionist whom gave very bad recommendation for lunch, technical manager didn't know what a HDMI cable was, even when I showed him the plug, room service slow and not really friendly on the phone. Breakfast in the room was a joke. No bathrobes, no coffee/tea maker, no bottle/wine opener, no wine glasses...this all in a suite we paid A LOT per night for...pretty sad! However, the room was fantastic except that it was in front of a church so when the church bells hit at 8.... Wouldn't go back.

Great location!Posted Jan 7, 2014
Cons: The bed.
Location: Trevi Fountain, Plaza Spagna, Coliseum, Pantheon, restaurants, great shopping, taxi station right at the corner.
A very good alternative to stay in Rome and be at walking distance of the major attractions and the night atmosphere. The hotel decoration shows the years and elegance typical of the era where it was opened; the donwside was the bed matress is in a very bad shape. If you are looking for a clean and well located place while visiting Rome with no fancy and modern perks, this is the place.

5 star hotel needs update & better conciergePosted Nov 13, 2013
Pros: Grandeur ot the public areas, location and taxi stand across the street.
Cons: Bathrooms updated & better, more consistent concierge.
Location: At the base of Spanish steps so the hopping and restaurants are fabulous and people watching galore!
Our experience was mixed. This hotel is a gorgeous grand hotel with public spaces still very elegant and well maintained but the rooms need to be refurbished, especially the bathrooms. This is the only 5-star hotel we have stayed that has had unreliable concierge services. On the night we arrived (after midnight), the gentleman at the front desk insisted ton holding the bar open for us to get a bite to eat and our plates of fresh tomatoes and cheese with hot bread and a glass of wine were fabulous! On the other hand, the lone female at the front desk was a continual disappointment as her attitude was haughty, she recommended a restaurant that was so bad we left without ordering, she booked a tour to the Vatican assuring us it was an eight person shuttle with direct entry to the Sistine Chapel and it turned into forty people on a bus that took over two hours to get into the Vatican grounds. To top it off, when we checked out, our flight was not until late in the evening so we left our bags in storage and she lost (probably intentionally) a spa bag containing a very sentimentally symbolic plate that we had purchased in Capri. All in all, mixed emotions about recommending this property to a friend but the location near the Spanish Steps was perfect and the public areas of the hotel are definitely worth seeing, especially the staircase with a life-sized carved marble lion. Having the taxi stand right across the street was great!

Misleading beautiful palacePosted Sep 22, 2013
The rooms were uncomfortable and the bathrooms were too small and not in a good condition. The staff were polite but too slow.

The rooms were horrible and dirtyPosted Sep 17, 2013 on Hotels.com
Hair all over bathroom dust everywhere mold. Non functioning AC. Staff was nice but rooms were terrible. I had to change rooms three times and even the third was filthy.

Misleading information about 5 stars rating;Posted Sep 17, 2013 on Hotels.com
This was in no way a 5 star property; at best a 3 star and very misleading in the information on your site about this. We changed rooms several times, as one smelled of mold; the toilets didn't work well, one room was without air conditioning, the beds had a thin sheet and you could see the mattress, when we tried to go for american breakfast listed on your site, they said we had to pay for it, and the only real positive as advertised on your site was the location.

Central hotel with a differencePosted Sep 15, 2013
Pros: See above
Cons: See above
Location: See above
The Grand Hotel Plaza is centrally located which enables access by foot to many of Romes tourist attractions. As suggedted by the name the hotel is "grand" in its appearance and is of itself worth the time to explore. The room was of a generous size, including the bathroom. The staff generally had a good understanding of English. Free wi-fi worked well. Very good variety for in-house breakfast. A couple of very small issues 1) the shower was handheld with no fitting to hold it above your head which I find awkward 2) we had a meal with our tour group in the hotel with the meal and service somewhat average.
