Nice hotel in good location

Posted Sep 5, 2014
Pros: key system, no bedbugs, breakfast, room was very quiet - virtually no street noise
Cons: ants, shower size security twenty-something disinterested staff
Location: location at top of hill - good views, uphill climb. Very, very close to sites.
Hotel Barberini is a competitively-priced hotel very close to Trevi and Tritone fountain areas. It proved to be a good base for our recent 11 days in Rome. There are numerous attractions, restaurants & coffee shops very close by. Our room (5th floor) had a view of St. Peter's from its balcony (the balcony was < 3' wide.) The room was very small commensurate with this price point and location. The shower was the smallest I've ever used (think RV-size), probably 2' X 3'. This hotel is on a hill which offers nice views, but also long uphill walks when returning home after a day of sight-seeing. Room key system allows cleaning crew to know when you have vacated room. It was impressive how quickly the room was cleaned, bed made etc. (ie: by the time we returned from breakfast.) There were no bedbugs. There were plenty of small ants in the bathroom and bedroom. The breakfast upstairs was very nice and the staff very cordial. The hotel staff is primarily twenty year olds. So, if you like to be greeted or acknowledged as you return each day, that doesn't happen. Accordingly, security is light (ie: anyone can walk in since no one is at the front desk); however, the hotel is in a very safe area and this was never a problem. We asked for two wine glasses and a corkscrew to enjoy wine in our room. They delivered two additional disposable plastic bathroom cups and said wine glasses would be impossible. I obtained two at the restaurant upstairs on my own - not full svce.

Amazing view of Rome at breakfast!

Posted Aug 8, 2014
This hotel is directly across from the Barberini Palace. It is a block from a metro station and 5-7 minutes (by foot) from a small grocery store, as well as many restaurants going towards Trevi Fountain. All the major sites are within a 20 minute or so walk. (We walk at a good pace.) The room is very clean with everything you need. All staff was very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast with amazing view. Room just the right size for me and my husband. Despite our room being street side, it was a mostly quiet street. I will definitely book here again.

We stayed for three nights at the Barberini Hotel, it was a great hotel. Can walk to all of the main attractions, lots of restaurants nearby. Rooftop restaurant was the perfect place for breakfast looking over the beautiful city of Rome. Definitely recommend!

The hotel is in an excellent position, two blocks up from the Trevi Fountain andround the corner from the metro. The room was clean and comfortable and the only negatives were that whenever we opened the window the airconditioning shut down and the internet access in the room didnt work. Breakfast was very good with a lovely view over Rome. I would happily stay there again.

Excellent location to metro and hop on bus tour

Posted Aug 2, 2014
Pros: Bedrooms decor beautiful, toilietries of high quality, and towels. Breakfast and terrace. Staff excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
Cons: Terrace could do with a update , refresh paint on winding stairs, English paper.
Location: Bottom of road excellent ice cream parlour. That's amour restaurant bottom of hotel road to right superb food. Metro bottom of the road .
Myself, wife and children 19/15 yrs stayed for four nights July. Rooms 206/7 internal door. The breakfast was served roof top terrace with breath taking views of Rome. Choice for breakfast very pleasing with fresh coffee made to your preference. Staff at every encounter, from breakfast, room service to reception outstanding. Impressive hiring skills from management, lovely staff. Would recommend and return in a heart beat. Reception booked and organised excursions for my family, even when leaving for the airport rang taxi, then on our way to airport rang taxi to inform us we had forgotten a suitcase , relief only 1 minute away. The reception guy had not even got his helmet off from pulling up for his shift, and brought our suitcase to taxi door outside hotel. Excellent, only thing small but a little refresh paint of winding stairs, this would be perfection. Great location.

Don't stay anywhere else!

The location is great for accessing everything in Rome via foot, metro, or train. We had a lovely view of St. Peter's Basilica from our balcony. The breakfast buffet was great for Americans who are used to a hearty first meal. We left early in the morning and hotel staff put together a breakfast bag for us to take to the airport. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Street noise was not noticeable. The hotel is located near many delicious and reasonably priced restaurants. Don't stay anywhere else in Rome!
