4 Star Hotel 5 Star StaffPosted Jul 23, 2014
Pros: Brilliantly attentive Staff.
Cons: Infinity pool on the roof !
Location: It is all there within easy reach
Hotel Capo d'Africa is a pleasant, comfortable hotel made exceptional by its staff. I have never stayed in a hotel where the all of the staff were so consistently attentive and thoughtful. The hotel itself would be what I would expect, every thing working (air con, showers etc) and comfortable. I have paid more for less in the past. In close range of much of the ancient, nice quite safe bars and restaurants perfect for folks like me who no longer party all night long but enjoy a stroll though atmospheric architecture. All round excellent. Just missing the infinity pool on the roof :-)

A gem close to the ColosseumPosted Jul 22, 2014
Location: 3 blocks to Colosseum/Forum, 4 to Metro also close to cab stop
Deserves the accolades it gets elsewhere. People were great, room was VERY nice, location was (well 3 blocks from the Colosseum says it all). Very convenient to get around. Chiara at the desk had a smile and personality that just lit things up. Very helpful with every detail.

Very close to the Colessum. Friendly staff. Breakfast buffet was just ok but that seems standard based on my experience.

Good hotel very close to ColosseumPosted Jun 29, 2014
Pros: Location Friendly staff Cleanliness Comfortable room
Cons: Recommendations for local restaurants Bath should have been replaced with such a large chip in it
Location: Within 10 mins easy walk to colosseum/roman forum/arch of Constantine. Lots of local restaurants and cafés Vatican (1 hour) nice walk along Tiber
Good quality hotel within sight of the Colosseum and easy walking distance to Central Rome and the key sights. Staff were very helpful and friendly and most spoke good English. Only criticism was a restaurant that was recommended by reception was actually quite bad (served unopened mussels and this was repeated when the dish was returned) Hotel breakfast was very good. Room was nice and comfortable with king size bed. Only criticism here was a large chip in the bath. Overall a good experience and would definitely use again and recommend to friends.

Lovely clean friendly hotel.Posted Jun 27, 2014
Cons: Softer mattress and pillows
Location: Would have preferred to have been more central to Rome city especially in the evenings.
Everything in our room was first class. The mattress on the bed was a bit hard as were the pillows but as we were there for only a few days it wasn't a problem. The breakfast was the highlight, possibly the best we have had in a hotel, also the staff were so friendly and helpful.

One of the better things about RomePosted Jun 23, 2014
Pros: The welcome and friendly atmosphere. Quiet location, but close to transport links and some nice trattoria nearby.
Cons: Maybe tea / coffee making facilities in the room
Location: Close to the Colisseum, but away from the tourist hassles. Tram and buses at the end of the street and metro 200yds further on
We stayed four nights at this hotel which provided a much needed sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the Roman tourist trail. The staff were so friendly and helpful, it was a joy to be around the hotel...nothing was too much trouble and it was always modestly provided. The king size bed was ideal for two "larger" guests (offering a great night's sleep) and all room amenities were provided, as would be expected of a top class facility. One of the greatest memories of the stay, was having breakfast on the rooftop terrace.

Wonderful location, helpful staff!Posted Jun 23, 2014
Pros: Location!! And the rooftop terrace was beautiful!!
Cons: The mattress was hard and thin. Not comfy.
Location: The Colosseum, Palatine Hill, and the Forum are very nearby. Lots of bars and restaurants in the area too.
Before we even left for our trip Hotel Capo d'Africa had answered several questions we had about doing late check-in, parking, etc. When we arrived we were hungry and tired, so the concierge directed us to a tiny little restaurant nearby where we could get a wonderful meal without paying an arm and leg. Our room was small, but nicely appointed. I felt that for the price, I would have liked a view or a slightly larger room. The bed linens were nice, but the bed wasn't very comfortable. We ordered room service our second night because we were worn out from walking. The portions were huge, the price reasonable, and delivery was fast. On our third day we needed a taxi early in the morning to go over to the Vatican. The front desk called one, told us how much it would be, and the taxi was at the door within minutes. I appreciated the secured parking, but I did feel that 42 Euro/day was a bit over-priced. The breakfast buffet started early (a bonus for us), and could be eaten on the gorgeous rooftop terrace. The items on the buffet were normal fair, but the coffee/cappuccino service was a bonus. The location really couldn't have been better, being situated right near the Colosseum and easy walking distance to any number of bars and restaurants. The views from the rooftop were pretty great, so we were able to get some amazing sunrise, and sunset photos. Overall, the location and helpful staff were this hotel's best attributes.

We stayed in room 304 under the hotel restaurant. Noisy with constant sounds of chairs moving from above. Very annoying.

Brilliant location and wonderful roof terracePosted Jun 17, 2014
Pros: The rooftop terrace, the frendly and helpful staff and the location.
Cons: We stayed on room 304 which was directly underneath the breakfast room so a little noisy in the mornings.
Location: Restaurant Papgia and Il Bocconicno were excellent Il Riona pizza served only pizza but was good Wine concept did good wine tasting and nibbles
We have just returned from a 4 day trip to Rome and cannot rate this hotel highly enough - it is literally down the road from the Colloseum and very handy for the metro. There are great restaurants nearby anf the staff on the front desk are more than happy to book and make recommendations. There is a delightful roof top terrace that serves drinks and has live music in the evenings - the flute player was excellent. We didnt eat in the hotel restaurant but breakfast was good and on sunny days we could eat outside in the sunshine - we would definately stay here again and have no hesitation in recommending it to others.
