The door lock needs to be updated. You have to use the key to lock the door, essentially locking you in. Unless you leave the key in the keyhole, it's dangerous if there's a fire. The bathroom door doesn't close smoothly. The bottom scrapes the floor. The shower door doesn't close properly. It's not as walkable as I thought it would be. The places where wanted to go was at least 20-30 min walk ie: Vatican, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain. The ladies at the front desk were very nice.

The staff are amazing, very helpful & accommodating. We got in early so we were able to leave our luggages in the hotel. Breakfast starts at 7:30 but we had to leave early one day, so Corinna requested for breakfast package for the 4 of us, which we picked up the night before. After midnight, there is no one at the desk & the gate is locked. You have to ring the night porter to open the gate for you. The hotel is walking distance to almost everything. Subway Lepanto is next block. There is a bonus terrace on the 4th floor/5th floor. This hotel is safe, clean & has the friendliest staff. Will definitely refer this hotel to my friends, and will come back.

Hotel location was good. Hotel was clean. Breakfast was excellent. AC was lacking. Could not sleep 2 of the 3 nights. Weather was hot ouside but AC was not able to keep the room at a decent temperature to sleep comfortably.

Decent basic hotel
Reasonable no frills hotel. Pros - Great location, helpful staff and booking comes with a basic breakfast. Cons - Though it's not really a hassle, having to hand your key to reception every time you leave and having to request the night key if you will be back after midnight (and pay over €50 if you lose it) feels restrictive; like you are a child somehow. The key had a heavy weight on it that felt unnecessary. The bathroom had a wetroom which I personally hate but each to their own. Not only that, but the water didn't drain immediately, so virtually the entire bathroom floor got soaked which wasn't great. Overall, a decent basic hotel. You don't really expect much for the price.

This is a very simple hotel and is not trying to be anything else. It provides the basics, reasonable comfort and quite, but if you are looking for luxury it will not be for you. The property is 5 minutes from the Lepanto metro stop, and close to non-tourist shopping. Breakfast is simple. Prices for beverages are lower than most other hotels. Internet speed was good, but there were no English channels on the cable service, not even the BBC or CNN International.

Very Good location at a walking distance of Vatican and 2 minutes from Metro. Immediate neighborhood is not very active and only some few restaurants can be found. Hotel is fine but doors of the Rooms are very thin and Noise from the hallway can be annoying. Breakfast is correct but finishes at 9h30 only.

Perfect For A Family Sughtseeing Visit To Rome
We booked into Hotel Casa Valdese Roma in Rome based on the reviews online and weren’t disappointed. The hotel performed well for this price bracket. It was relatively easy to find and easily identifiable from the outside in what we thought was a quiet, mostly residential, area on the west side of the river, within comfortable walking distance of the Vatican and easy access to the east side of the river. Based here we used the hop-on-hop-off buses to get around or walked, and our 8 and 10 year old kids managed the distances without difficulty. The room was basic but neat, clean and quiet. This room accommodated a family of four with an en-suite shower/toilet room. It was on the second floor but was served by both stairs and an elevator. The breakfast on a morning was essentially continental, with coffee, tea and juices available. It was tasty and filling. The hotel staff were all pleasant, engaging and helpful. We would have no hesitation to recommend Casa Valdese as a great place to base yourself for a family sightseeing visit to Rome.

Comfortable and Convenient Hotel
This hotel was very convenient to public transport (both subways and buses) but located on a very quiet street. The room itself was very clean, and the staff very efficient. Breakfast was also very good, with convenient hours. The room was a little on the small side and set up somewhat monastically (e.g., twin beds, religious reading materials provided). There is one small flight of stairs to negotiate entering the hotel, but after that convenient elevator access is available. There is excellent wifi service.

First time in Rome - great place to stay!
The area where the hotel is located is full of lovely tree-lined streets. I had a spacious room with a street view, and extremely comfortable bed. The breakfast was generous, the staff friendly and helpful, all for a great budget price. Don't be put off by the distance from the heart of the city - it's a brisk walk away, about 15 - 20 minutes, and of course convenient to the Vatican area. There are plenty of small eateries and supermarkets around the hotel, so no problem sticking to a moderate spending regime. When I asked about getting out to Fiumicino Airport, the staff explained how to take an airport bus, the stop is located just 6 minutes walk from the hotel, cost (I think) was 6 Euros. The only minus point was getting stuck in heavy traffic on the way.

Perfect location- close to several of the historic sites! Food choices for breakfast is decent. We arranged departure transportation through the hotel. Staff were extremely helpful and patient with us and had excellent recommendations for sightseeing options. Would definitely come back.

Pros:- Room was clean Location is great for the attractions - there are several bus stops and a metro station (Lepanto) close by if, like myself, you don't enjoy long walks in sweltering conditions. Good acoustic insulation or other guests were just very quiet - no noise filtering in from the corridor or other rooms (great as I am a light sleeper). Friendly staff Cons:-Continental breakfast - I skipped as I like my breakfast cooked. WiFi connection was intermittent especially on my phones and Ipad, slightly better on my laptop.

The stay was simply wonderful, the location was and great within walking difference of the Vatican and other historic sites. The metro is 2 blocks away which goes to the train station. The hotel was simply great, a little odd the shower did not have shelf for soap/shampoo. The nearby restaurants were decent for tourist area. This hotel is great for those up in age and enjoy the comfort of quiet.

Over all found hotel very good. Close to Metro station, Vatican, shops and restaurant. Air conditioning broke down and we were moved to another room. Sorted no trouble. Most of staff were friendly and helpful. With the exception of 2 female receptionists!! Seemed to take a dislike to myself and my friend. Locked out of hotel last night in rain until 1 of these receptionists could be bothered to open door. Also found quite rude on checking out. Maybe if I'd been with my husband I may have been treated differently!!! Shame as found everything else very good.

Rome for a week
Hotel Casa Valdese was a very quaint hotel with the layout almost making you feel as a guest in a large Roman house. The room was comfortable, functional and clean. The location was in a quiet almost residential neighbourhood but close to the Metro and major buses that cover most tourist attractions. It was also close to The Vatican. Overall, it was a very nice place to stay in Rome.

Wonderfully old world charm!
Hotel Casa Valdese is in a great location for shopping and restaurants, including gelato shoppes. Off one of the main streets, it is very quiet and quaint with a superb staff willing to help with anything you need. Breakfasts are incredible.
