Budget hotel

This is a budget hotel on the better side of the termini train station. The wireless internet was very unreliable.

Met and exceeded our expectations

Great hotel in a perfect location close to metro, bus lines, restaurants, gelaterias and some of the most magnificent parts of ancient Rome. A/C was great. Staff were great. Breakfast was more than adequate. Would go back again for sure.

Loved it!

An old-fashioned building in the centre of Rome with a rooftop terrace offering stunning views across the city. We spent a lot of time up there!! Breakfast was a wide selection of pastries, rolls, cheese, cold meats, cereal, fruit, yoghurts - something for absolutely everyone - and the coffee was fantastic. The level of cleanliness in the rooms was excellent, although the rooms themselves were a bit small and there weren't quite enough plug sockets. Just a short walk to the Colosseum and the Forum with lots of restaurants just a couple of minutes away. I would definitely stay here again.

Rome 2014

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: Rooftop terrace.
Location: Walking distance of most things. Hotel gave us a map and we just explored on foot apart from getting taxi to the Vatican.
Took 2 teenagers to Rome in August. Staff very friendly, if you need a taxi (reasonably priced) the reception staff arrange one and a taxi is outside in 2-3 minutes. Hotel within easy walking distance of restaurants, a meal at Ciardi Bar Pasticceria on Via Cavour is a must. Everything about hotel was great including rooftop terrace which was never really crowded. Take a bottle of water with you everywhere and you can just fill it up at the water fountains. Definitely need a return visit to Rome.

Lovely hotel in a superb position.

Pros: Friendliness andhelpfulness of staff, proximity to all major sights.
Cons: Nothing, really. A very good hotel.
Location: All of Rome's attractions and a whole host of good restaurants within easy walking distance.
Very friendly helpful staff. Double room, very clean certainly large enough with good air conditioning and facilities. Roof terrace a particular plus. Very well positioned in central Rome, 10 minutes from Terminii station and Colosseum.

Good base for sightseeing

We had a pleasant stay at hotel Colosseum, the staff were very helpful and polite. The roof terrace was an excellent escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The hotel is ideally placed off the main road, so no noisy traffic and it is less than 10 minutes walk from the central station and very close to the colosseum. By night there are many good restaurants and bars close by. It is within walking distance to most famous landmarks but as the station is so close we chose to go to the Vatican (which is furthest away) by underground which is one euro fifty. The hotel is very clean and has shutters and good air conditioning and a comfy bed. the only bad point is the acoustics of the hotel room. We could hear people walking up and down the marble staircase next to our room and could hear people in the room above us. Admittedly we didn't complain as our stay was short and we were up and out early anyway. I'm sure if we had asked we could have changed rooms as the staff could not have been more helpful. so overall I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again.

Lovely friendly traditional Rome hotel.

Friendly staff greeted us on our arrival and showed us to our small but practical and clean double room. Nice bathroom with walk in shower too. AC was a godsend and automatic shutters kept the sun off our room. The staff were very helpful and helped solve a problem we had with booking a transfer to the airport. We got it free after the manager spoke to the company. The breakfast was limited but adequate and everything looked clean. The breakfast room was traditional with wooden benches, terracotta artwork, wraught iron features and had an amazing painted ceiling. Going up to the roof is a must. The views are amazing. Take a bottle of wine and a pizza. A 15 min walk will get you to the Colosseum and most other sites down the Via Cavoir and the Church of St Maria Maggio is on the doorstep. We think its the church from the film The Italian Job where the Mini Coopers drive down the steps while the Bride and Groom dive for cover. Looks nothing from the outside but lovely inside. The Metro is also a 5 min walk down the Via Cavoir. Loved every minute of our 3 day stay. Take plenty of money because eating out isn't cheap and cushion insoles because you'll want to walk every inch of Rome.

excellent hotel close to all main attractions.

Pros: Cleanliness and friendliness along with the central location.
Cons: Tea/coffee facilities in the room would be an added bonus.
We have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Hotel Colosseum which was absolutely fantastic! The hotel is spotless and the facilities very good. We had a lovely room with a balcony where we were able to relax in the sunshine. The hotel roof garden was also a place of peacefulness where we enjoyed a bottle of wine or two! (prices are very reasonable!) Staff at the hotel are very helpful and polite and nothing is too much trouble for them. A fab time was had by all and we would return to this hotel if we have the opportunity to return to Rome.
