“Great value for money hotel”

This hotel is in a perfect location for a city break. It is virtually on the Vatican doorstep and the hop on bus stop is right outside the entrance. The staff were excellent and the rooms were clean with plenty of toileteries.The only downside was that the bar prices were expensive but the overall experience was briliant and we will definately use this hotel again.

“Feel special in Rome”

While the rooms are not luxurious, they are clean and maintained. The hotel was monastery many years ago, so the "feel" of the building is in line with the area (it is a stone's throw from the Vatican). The staff is very accommodating and professional especially when it comes to booking tours. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel.

“Handy for St Peter's”

The hotel Columbus was in an excellent position next to St Peters which enabled an early start to sight seeing. The hotel was old and full of character. The staff were very helpful and the room was clean and functional.

I really liked this hotel. It's a converted monetary so the halls are highly faulted and it has an elegant feel. The rooms were simple - without all the modern gadgetry, which I prefer. Bed was clean, if a little less firm than I like - but this is a small quibble. If you want a modern chain hotel, which I don't when traveling in Europe, this is probably not the hotel for you. Bathroom - bathtub in mine (so comfortable!)- was modern and clean and the front desk was always helpful. The biggest plus is location - peek out your window and there's St. Peter's, one minute walk away! Gorgeous spot and I always felt safe. Would stay again!

“Great location”

We recently spent a fabulous week in this beautiful historical hotel located on the door step of St Peter's square in Rome. The service is excellent and the staff very helpful and polite. Rooms are basic with poor shower facilities and the three floors are serviced by one tiny lift. This was the only downside as the beautiful, romantic restaurant with its faded frescos, high ceilings and terrace garden more than made up for this. The hotel was very clean and the food is highly recommended. We hope to stay again when next in Rome

“Very handy for the Vatican”

We stayed at the Columbus for 4 very hot days in May 2009. It is perfectly situated for visiting the Vatican, and within walking distance of most of the other Rome attractions. The room was claen and comforatble and the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was uninspiring, although tables were set out in the garden which was very pleasant. They ran out of things if you did not get down to breakfast early, although I gather this is true of most Rome hotels. We did not eat lunch or dinner in the restaurant, which looked expensive - there are good restaurants only 15 minutes walk away, either across the river, or in Trastevere.

“Vatican Hotel”

This hotel is on the Vatican doorstep is an good choice for a visit there but it is not within walking distance of the other main attractions.The area is quiet at night. The hotel was orginally an fifteenth century palace and stiil retains all of the character and some of the frescos. The staff were extremelly helpful and courteous. Our room was upgraded to a double room free of charge because one was available. The hotel was clean ,tidy and well managed. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.
