SUPER for location, not much elsePosted Nov 18, 2014
Pros: location, location, location PLUS Alex at the front desk!
Cons: TV replacement with LED/LCD and larger, must have more channels and some in English, screens on windows, replace elevator if at all possible.
Location: by St. Peters but don't think you can just zip in for a quick prayer! The security line is quite long. the castle is nearby but a LOT of stairs.
Il Buono; Il Cattivo; Il Brutto--the good, the bad, the ugly There are 2 good reasons to stay here: the location of course, but also Alex at the front desk, weekdays. He knows it all and will be of great assistance. The building is old and of stone, so it's cold. I slept in my street cloths several times. The elevator is tiny and slow. Some people get a room on the second floor to avoid it. [I was in 416.] Rome has mosquitoes so bring DEET. And a poncho. There is a long line for security to enter St. Peters, so go as early in the day as possible. I was there at 8, with no wait, later it will be a half hour + on security. I did not buy the breakfast at the hotel as I thought 15E a bit rich, but Alex waved the fee. It costs that much because of the ham, but I do not eat meat at breakfast, ever. It's a good standard buffet, no surprises, but good. I did not use LaVeranda in the hotel. Borgo Pio street is well known and close. Food was very forgettable in Roma, and not well done generally. And I am no gourmet but easily pleased. Service also terrible. Don't get your hopes up on the TV. It's a CRT, all channels [perhaps 12] are in Italian except one in German. Why no CNN or Sky News??? No English language!!!......

Great for Rome sightseeingPosted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: Ease for sightseeing
Cons: Attitude of staff, not helpful to foreign tourists
Location: Ideal for Vatican and all major Rome sights
Ideal for Rome sightseeing as almost next to Vatican, very central. Downside was few restaurants nearby and closed early evening so no where to eat other than hotel (which was expensive)

Great LocationPosted Aug 16, 2014 on Hotels.com
Nice hotel. The gentleman at the front desk was very polite and accommodating. The location right at St.Peter's is great, and is within walking distance to Ottaviano subway station, several bus stops, Castel St. Angelo and many areas of interest. I'd stay again.

This hotel is perfectly located. The staff are excellent. Its an older hotel--but frankly its not noticed given the amazing surroundings.

Steps to St Peter SquarePosted Jul 27, 2014
Pros: Close to Vatican and in a historical building
Location: Location is great. On a main street and steps to Vatican.
It is just steps to St Peter Square. Hotel is in a historical buildings and have old furniture, old dinning hall and paintings along the stairs. Room is in old style but the washroom is renovated. Hotel staffs are friendly, they speak fluent English and hard to practice my few Italian words. The have two Mac next to reception and WIFI throughout the building. Hotel is on a main street and walking distance to Metro and bus stations. The route between Metro and the hotel is well lit so you feel safe if you head back late to hotel.

Great hotel within close proximity to Vatican CityPosted Jul 27, 2014
Cons: Better wardrobe / drawer facilities within the room.
Location: Very close to St Peter's Basilica. Ideal for those who like to walk to all major attractions.
Ideally located for exploring all of Rome's delightful architecture and history. Some quaint little restaurants situated close by on via Borgo, a 5 minute walk away from the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and furnished in a basic style.

Excellent location - hotel very tired and below paPosted Jul 26, 2014
Hotel if based on location alone would be 5* but room highly inadequate and struggles to meet 2* Loose tiles under foot in bathroom, no shower curtain or hook for handheld over bath. No double bed-2 singles pushed together - portable air con unit vent out open window = no air con - beds rock hard. Windows so small and block by air con vent - no natural light available.
