Rome

Posted Jul 14, 2015
Pros: Location and staff.
Cons: The shower.
Location: The Coliseum was right across the street. Walking distance from Spanish steps and Trevea Fountain.
Great location, staff was wonderful, was a little problem with the shower flooding the bathroom every morning but would stay there again!

Great location

Hotel is very modern and in a great spot steps from the colosseum. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Bathrooms are very spacious and air conditioning is ice cold. I would have no problem staying there again.

Not what it appears to be online

Posted Jun 13, 2015
When we first looked at it online we thought it was going to be a cool place to stay. When we arrived, we had a hard time finding it behind the strip of restaurants. We walked in and it wasn't anything like we expected. The lobby was dark and dingy with cracks in the ceiling and walls. The concierge wasn't at the desk and we had to call into the back for him. He still didn't come out for a few minutes following that. Once he finally did, we felt like we were inconveniencing him by needing to check in. We had to wait for about 45 minutes for our room to be ready even though we had told Expedia to tell the hotel we would have to check in earlier than 2pm. Finally got our room, walked down the hallway and the ceiling lights were an awful yellow that hurt our eyes. There were missing ceiling tiles and it seemed like the whole place was under construction. Our room was odd but it worked fine for one night. I felt uncomfortable with the window and door leading to the patio because there was no extra lock on it to ensure that nobody could get into our room since we were on the first floor. They advertise free wifi, which doesn't reach to the room. So we were only able to connect to wifi (which was extremely slow) when sitting in the lobby which wasn't ok for us because we needed to check into our flight and reach our families in the US. Overall, I don't recommend this hotel at all. We wanted to leave as soon as we arrived. Stay somewhere else!

Like an IKEA hotel

Posted Apr 29, 2015
Pros: The concierge service was wonderful
Cons: Improve upon breakfast, furnishings within room.
Location: Right near the Colosseum and about 4 blocks from train station.Other attractions are a long stroll away
Hotel de Rome was just okay. It was right around the corner from the Colosseum, which is why we booked it. No view from the room though, and on a very busy and noisy street. Wifi was practically nonexistent, which made double checking our tours/flights, etc difficult. Everything in the room is very modern, kind of like Ikea. Everything somehow fits into a very small space, but overall low quality. Our shower handle fell off every time we used it, but easily put it back on. A night light remains on within the bathroom at all times, which was annoying as we would have preferred it to be all dark as we adjusted to time differences. The concierge was incredibly helpful - every restaurant she recommended we thoroughly enjoyed. They also assisted us in calling a cab to the airport, etc. Breakfast was our least favorite out of our hotels within Italy. They americanized it, american coffee, ham instead of prosciutto, scrambled eggs, etc. The other hotels gave an authentic Italian breakfast.

Pros: Le confort
