Quaint hotel, room nice but bathroom could do with a bit of TLC. Staff very helpful, especialy the man who runs the bar at night.

The rooms were small with no amenities and the shower was tiny. When I booked the hotel they told me ride from airport to hotel was 50e. When we arrived and called for a car the hotel told me it was 60e and when the driver finally arrived he charged me 65 euros. The car dropped us off a block away we had to drag our luggage to hotel. They also did not mention that the Trevi Fountain was under renovation and we woke up to construction every morning not the "relaxing waters of the fountain" very disappointed. Would never stay at that hotel again.

A Great Experience

Pros: This hotel is charming and traditional. I love the fact that it is not modern. It is very clean and comfortable. I highly recommend it.
Hotel Fontana is the best kept secret in Rome. The hotel's location at Trevi Fountain is within walking distance of all the highlights of the city as well as easy access to the metro station and bus line. The staff is very helpful and friendly and made our stay very pleasant..

Fab view

Pros: Location Location Location And friendly staff.
Location: Pantheon 5 mins walk, 10 mins to Piazza Navona and Spanish Steps
Fantastic view (we did upgrade to a superior room) small but spotlessly clean. We faced the fountain the noise wasn't a problem though. All the staff we encountered were friendly, spoke excellent English and were helpful in anything we asked and even knew what we wanted for breakfast by the second morning. Good location, most places within walking distance. We did see a room opposite ours and it looked small and didn't have a view, so I STRONGLY suggest you upgrade

Authentic hotel overlooking the Trevi fountain

Posted Apr 19, 2014
Pros: The location, probably the best in Rome. The staff, they couldn't do enough to help. The view and setting.
Cons: Our room was separated with the room next door by a large door instead of a wall, this meant we could hear everything next door, which was disturbing
Location: Next to trevi fountain in centre of Rome
Beautiful little hotel in the perfect location for visiting all the sights of Rome. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, the room was lovely with the most surreal view of the Trevi fountain, its a very romantic hotel. We walked everywhere from here, the Vatican being the furthest away at 30 mins. Breakfast was lovely on the terrace, very sweet setting, the food was nice, not anything special but a good selection. I honestly couldn't imagine visiting Rome and not staying there again.

Great location!

I was staying here for one night with a friend at the end of our trip, prior to departing Italy. We were lucky to have our room upgraded with a stunning view of the Trevi Fountain. It was so amazing to be staying so close to this beautiful fountain. The beds were comfy and the room was big enough for the two of us (twin beds and a suitcase each). The bathroom was OK, however the shower let the room down with a bath/shower combination (only a hand held nozzle) that was tiny! It was very uncomfortable to stand in the tiny bath and try to avoid spraying water everywhere. The hotel could do with a luggage storage room, as I had to leave my bags near the elevator in the front foyer for the next day as my flight wasn't until 8:30pm. Luckily someone was at the desk the whole time watching them! Apart from these minor things I was very happy with my stay at Hotel Fontana, and would recommend it to anyone who is staying in Rome for a few nights. You couldn't beat the location (close to Trevi, Pantheon, Colosseum and shopping)! You must go up to the breakfast as the view is stunning, looking down on the Trevi Fountain and the food isn't bad.

The hotel is dated but very very clean and the staff were excellent in their service and knowledge of the area and attractions. Well worth staying here.
