A good 3 star hotel near to the Colosseum.Posted Feb 27, 2014
Pros: It was clean and had very good staff.
Cons: The very small shower rooms need to be rethought and perhaps turned into wet rooms.
Location: 5 minutes walk from the Colosseum and main train station. 2 minutes walk to a metro station.
Nice Hotel with excellent helpful and friendly staff who all seemed to speak English. We were on the 4th floor where the rooms were on the small side. The toilet/shower room was a bit cramped with the shower itself being the smallest I've ever (almost) been in. The rooms were clean and kept that way during our 5 night stay. Wardrobe space was a bit limited which meant some clothes remained in our cases. The continental breakfast was good with cereals, cold meat, cheese, bread and croissants. There was also a choice of scrambled or fried egg. The bar never seemed to be staffed and had little choice but this was balanced out with a bar area at the front door of the hotel. There are a number of decent restaurants close to the hotel and although their food was good, the menus were a bit limited. Overall we found the Hotel Ivanhoe to be an excellent base which was within walking distance of most of the main attractions of Rome.

Fantastic hotel close to the heart of RomePosted Feb 26, 2014
Pros: The location is brilliant. Just a two minute (if that) walk to Cavour metro line and one stop from Termini. Be sure to use the roof terrace too!
Cons: Perhaps a small safe in the room. There is one downstairs but I like to lock things away. Minor personal point and did not affect our stay at all.
Location: As I said above the location is great, literally you have Rome on your doorstep from this hotel.
I booked for myself and four friends going out for the Six Nations and spent a lot of time checking out reviews of various hotels. I have stayed in Rome before but as this was going to be a short trip, 4 days, I wanted a central location so that we didn't spend too much time travelling in and out. I settled on Hotel Ivanhoe as it had the best rating to price ratio within our budget. The welcome on arrival was excellent and although we were slightly early for check in the staff processed us through and took us to our rooms. You may see reports of cramped rooms, small showers etc. Yes, this is an old building and is constrained by its floorplan, but, do not judge too quick. I'm the smallest of our group at 5'10" (1.77m) and of a large build and it was fine. Even my far bigger friends agreed the facilities were more accommodating than in many places we had stayed before. Bit tight in the shower but it serves it purpose well. We had twin rooms and the beds are quite close together, but we didn't come to Rome to sleep all day and our main interest was comfort, cleanliness and practicality and Hotel Ivanhoe achieves all these and more. The Hotel is immaculate. The cleaning staff here do a top notch job. Breakfast is a typical continental affair and you can add to that with hot scrambled eggs, either plain or with cheese and/or ham. .

Great hotel very close to Colosseo di RomaPosted Feb 24, 2014
It's so funny, but when I arrived at IvanHoe hotel, people at reception greeted me like if they knew who I was. One of the ladies that clean told me that they were happy to have me there. The guys that work in the morning serving breakfast were outstanding, friendly and polite. It was a great experience.

just perfectPosted Feb 18, 2014
Cons: larger shower cubicles
We both enjoyed our trip to Rome & our stay at hotel Ivanhoe. . The hotel is in a perfect location for restaurants, shops, bus & train terminals & in walking distance to the Colosseum. The hotel was really lovely with very friendly staff, a very good continental breakfast including cereals, croissant's,cold meats, rolls, yoghurt, orange juice, coffee, tea & scrambled eggs etc. Our hotel & holiday in Rome was almost perfect, our only slight critisism was the tiny shower cubicle, it was a bit of a tight squeeze but hey we managed. Would definately stay at the hotel Ivanhoe again & again

Perfect hotel in the perfect location.Posted Feb 17, 2014
It was our first time abroad as a young couple so were very nervous of what to expect.. We couldn't have asked for a better hotel. The location is perfect, right next to a metro line which is brilliant to use for travelling around Rome. It's within walking distance of the colosseum, trevi fountain, pantheon and so much more. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming and are very accommodating, recommending things to see and places to eat. It was the perfect stay and will definitely be back!

Tiny Rooms, But GREAT HotelPosted Feb 10, 2014
Pros: The location and cleanliess, friendly staff, great breakfast!
Cons: The room and shower size are tiny but I think that is to be expected in this area and for the price.
Location: The hotel is in the heart of the city so there are limitless things to do. The coffee shop next door is fantastic as is the restaurant up the hill.
I booked this room on Expedia hoping that it would be good for a week in Rome with my sister. We arrived and it exceeded our expectations. The room and shower were TINY. Having said that, the room was spotlessly clean and located right in the heart of Rome. It was only about a block away from the subway station and was surrounded by restaurants and shops that attract locals rather than toursits. The desk staff was very helpful and did all they could to make our stay more enjoyable. I would gladly stay at Hotel Ivanhoe again.

Pleasant hotel conveniently locatedPosted Feb 7, 2014
Pros: Location, character, cleanliness, helpful staff.
Cons: Get rid of smell in reception. Provide kleenex and shoe cleaning cloth in room.
Location: Handy for station. Visit Santa Maria Maggiore, Santa Pudenziana, Santa Prassede (all have good mosaics), Baths of Diocletian, Scuderie del Quirinale.
This is a typically Roman street with lots of character despite being near the station. Plenty of reasonably-priced restaurants in the area. Staff were pleasant and breakfast ample. Scrambled or sunny side up eggs cooked on demand. Room was quite small but acceptable for the price. Unpleasant smell in reception area. Staff pleasant and helpful.
