Beautiful boutique hotel close to Spanish StepsPosted Mar 5, 2014
Pros: Its style, its proximity to most of the sites, the friendliness of the staff.
Cons: Free Wi-Fi in the rooms would be nice!
Location: Spanish Steps and Via dei Condotti with its designer shops and nearby restaurants only minutes away.
We stayed 3 nights here in late February. Hotel is in a great location, is beautifully decorated in ornate Baroque style - no minimalism here! - with very comfortable well-appointed rooms. Ours was on the third floor with a lovely view over the Borghese Gardens. At the time of our visit the hotel's own restaurant was being refurbished so we had our breakfast in the Mirabelle Restaurant on the 7th floor of the hotel which has a lovely terrace - perfect to sit out on warm summer days - and amazing views of St. Peter's and the Rome skyline. Buffet breakfast was superb. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

Great locationPosted Feb 27, 2014
Pros: Location, beauty of the hotel, the staff
Location: near the last stop on the red line of the Metro. Around the corner from the Hard Rock Cafe
The hotel was elegant very clean and the staff was exceptionally nice. The location was great because it was very near the Spanish Steps but was on a quiet street. Also very near the Via Venito. The breakfast was exceptional. I would definitely stay here again.

Great location, highly recommended.Posted Feb 22, 2014
Pros: Style and service. It feels like you are staying somewhere first class whilst making you feel at home wearing jeans and t-shirt.
Location: Take a leisurely stroll to the major attractions, enjoy the city by foot. enjoy the view from the terrace.
This is a fantastic hotel, excellent standards and service. Superb breakfast, well located to experience downtown Rome with the major attractions within walking distance.

Small, luxurious hotel for a special time awayPosted Feb 22, 2014
Pros: The staff were fantastic and provided excellent service. The hotel is small and peaceful with fantastic views and a spa available across the park.
Cons: The planned addition of a roof cafe will be great as food options, outside of the Michelin star restaurant, are limited.
Location: A short walk away from the main sites and opposite the green expanse of the Villa Borghese gardens. Lots of restaurant options nearby.
The perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Rome and its tourist areas. All the key sites and attractions are within walking distance or, if you prefer, a short taxi ride away. The hotel staff couldn't have been more helpful and their restaurant recommendations were spot on. The buffet breakfast was excellent and was being temporarily served in the main restaurant with fantastic views over Rome. This was also the perfect place for a drink and nibbles before dinner, sitting outside under the heaters (if needed), looking over the stunning nightscape of Rome to the Vatican and St Paul's Basilica. For that extra indulgence, the spa at the sister hotel across the park (10 mins walk) is available to guests of the Splendide Royal, which was a great way to rejuvenate tired, aching legs. One tip - beware the pavement bars/restaurants in the main tourist areas as the drinks, food and service charges can be very high; you'll find alternatives just off the main areas, typically where the local Romans are eating and drinking!

Lovely hotelPosted Feb 19, 2014
Lovely hotel. Wonderful staff. My only complaint would be very uncomfortable pillows. Seriously hard. Otherwise, great staff... Pretty hotel. Very responsive and perfect location.

Comfortable hotel, beautiful view, lovely stayPosted Feb 19, 2014
Pros: Breakfast at Mirabelle, view, quiet, helpful service.
Cons: Television in the room was nice, but slow. It might have just been an issue with our particular TV.
Location: Up on the same hill as the Spanish Steps, very near Villa Borghese. We were able to walk to everything, taking a cab or subway back.
We stayed at the H.S.R. in Feb 2013 for leisure. The facility feels small and intimate, generously decorated, but warm and welcoming. Staff were excellent and the concierge was very helpful - quickly answering e-mails before our stay and following up when we arrived. We stayed in a deluxe room facing the park. The room was large, very nice bathroom facility with both shower and bathtub (separate) and dual sinks. Well decorated - not gaudy or garish, but upscale, no noise problems - we didn't hear anyone or anything other than birds out the window, car traffic especially was quiet - its not a busy neighborhood. Easy access to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and two nearby 'A' subway stops (Barberini and Spanish Steps). We walked everywhere and took subway or cabs back. The location is convenient, though somewhat uphill - not uncommon in a city of hills. Upscale neighborhood, other guests were business-class or foreign travelers largely a 30-50s crowd. We opted for the breakfast and would recommend it - a large selection of something for everyone from eggs/meat, to pastry, fruit, cold-cuts, cereal etc. Great cappuccino, and held in the 7th floor restaurant Mirabelle with a _spectacular_ view, eat there at least once. The hotel has a new partnership with another sibling hotel for Spa/Pool facility which we would have checked out if we had known ahead of time. Overall an excellent stay.

Very nice hotel next to Villa BorghesePosted Feb 18, 2014
Hotel is really pleasing, restaurant view is amazing. Upsetting was that condition in our room was +27 all the day (broken) and room was changed only on the next night (as hotel was full on the first night)

Old fashioned hotel with fabulous viewPosted Feb 14, 2014
Pros: Service and decor.
Cons: Wifi should be free if paying these sorts of prices. Softer pillows.
Location: Villa Boghese museum is one of, if not the, best museums in Rome. Bernini and Caravaggio and at the moment Giacometti abound.
Attentive service. Delightfully old fashioned decor. Great views at breakfast. Outstanding but very expensive restaurant.
