ROME OCTOBER 2014Posted Nov 2, 2014
Cons: TV, kettles in rooms.
Lovely Hotel, though it would have been perfect nearer the centre of the city and down a hill rather than up. No kettles in rooms, and drinks ridiculously expensive in hotel (mini bar and room service) - but plenty of places in the city so it wasn't a problem. Wi-fi required daily sign on to keep it free. TV no good as no watchable english channels. Breakfast very good, didn't eat in the hotel in the evenings though, as the prices were out of the world (even though the setting fantastic).

Great hotelPosted Oct 29, 2014
Pros: The efficiency of the staff. The roof terrace for a drink and to take in a fabulous view of the city.
Cons: Bathroom could do with an update.
Location: Spanish steps and Trevi Fountain are in easy walking distance. Hop on ,hop off sightseeing bus stop is close by and a good way to get your bearings.
This hotel is in a good location but it a fairly steep walk up the hill to get there. The staff are very helpful and offer great advice on eating out and getting around the city. We had breakfast in the hotel ,choosing carefully from the a la carte menu as it is very expensive. Food was good. We did not eat in the restaurant but enjoyed a drink on the small terrace which has a fantastic view over the city. Again it was expensive but service was excellent and the view is impressive. Large room , clean if a little old fashioned in style.

Luxury HotelPosted Oct 22, 2014
Pros: Very beautiful. Incredibly comfortable bed. Temperature of room was perfect. Large bathroom with Jacuzzi tub. Very friendly staff. Terrific food.
Cons: Honestly, I cannot think of one thing!
Location: The hotel is near the Spanish steps yet in a quiet area. Close to many cafes/restaurants/shops.
We had a wonderfully relaxing hotel stay for 4 days. This hotel is beautifully well maintained and luxurious. Our room (522) was incredibly clean, the bed unbelievably comfortable with a large sized bathroom with Jacuzzi tub. The breakfast room was beautiful with a large variety of food to choose from. The hotel staff were so nice and helpful. We will return to the Hotel Splendide Royal!

Very unfriendly environmentPosted Oct 22, 2014
Pros: The hotel itself it beautiful. The rooms are very nice and the lobby is nice. It is also very close to the Trevi fountain and the Spanish steps.
Cons: The attitudes of the employees need to be improved. There was a vast difference in how some of the guests were treated as opposed to others.
Location: Trevi fountain and Spanish steps are walking distance. The rest of the attractions are about a 10 euro taxi ride which is not bad at all.
We stayed at this hotel for the last leg of our honeymoon. They did provide us a complimentary room upgrade but that was where the niceness ended. Firstly, we did not having a working television. We called the first night and it wasn't until the third day that they came to fix it. The men spent about four hours in our room until we eventually kicked them out. There was no apology for this and I don't understand why something like this would not have been looked after ahead of someone staying in that room. Next most of the staff were very unfriendly. The morning buffet was fantastic but some of the staff in the restaurant area were extremely unfriendly. The main lady that leads you to your table would not even say goodbye to us when we left. We felt continuously judged and the environment was not very comfortable. We felt like we were being judged as low-class and as a result were treated that way.

Luxurious and comfortablePosted Oct 13, 2014
A very comfortable hotel in a good location. Beds are possibly the best I've ever slept in. Room immaculately maintained. Only criticism is that some of the staff was stiff and only begrudgingly helpful.

nearly perfecPosted Sep 25, 2014
Pros: Decor, service, comfort, food, location
Cons: AC system
Location: lots of things, near to good restaurants in via veneto and piazza barberini, 10 minutes walk to spanish steps and via del corso, and in front of park
Everything pleasing, location (in front of pines of Villa Borghese park, near to via veneto and spanish steps), confort, cleanliness, nice seating at mirabelle restaurant on the 7th floor, excellent breakfast, food and room service. A small minus was the AC, not working properly, as the internal control does not move, keeping the room at 24 degrees, not exactly pleasant given humidity in Rome. After 3 appeals, they sent someone who fixed it and reduced the temperature to 22 degrees on the last night.
