“Excellent Location for Rome Activities”
We stayed in an "annex" double room which was excellent - clean, nice shower and reasonable size. It required going up a couple narrow stairways with our luggage (no elevator in the annex) but that was acceptable. Free breakfast was included. The hotel staff spoke enough English so there was never a communication problem. The best aspect was the central location. The hotel is very close to both Piazza Campo d' Fiori and Piazza Navona, both vibrant areas with festivals, numerous cafe's, etc. It's a very easy walk to the Pantheon, Trevi fountain and the Trestavere region. There's also a great pizza, panini and pastry shop just a few hundred feet from the hotel. It was excellent and always mobbed with locals. You must stop there for a lunch or snack. The Teatro di Pompeo hotel is a great place to experience what it's like to live in Rome.
“Perfect Location”
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The central location was perfect for walking in Rome. There is a elevator and we stayed in the main section on the 2nd floor. The area and maze of streets surrounding the hotel can be confusing. The breakfast was great and we fueled up each day, packing a few items for later snacks. Checking the world news at the end of each day was a waste, as the TV had a mind of it's own, but hey we were on vacation. The shower was a better one compared to our 14 day stay in the country. We spent 5 days in Rome. A quiet location, we could fall into bed for an afternoon nap, shower and off to dinner and the nighttime activities at Campo di Fiori Piazza.
“Hotel Pompeo in the heart on Rome”
Great little hotel in the heart of historic Rome. Nice size rooms by European standards, and a nice breakfast in the a room that dates back to the Roman times. This place is a little hidden gem that is literally a walk to all the top sites. Free Wi-Fi and a freindly staff.
“Beware the Annex”
We occupied the top room in the annex -- 50 stair steps by actual count, no elevator.
“Very convenient location”
Reasonably priced hotel in the center
“Perfect location for walking anywhere and everywhere!”
Interesting, ancient building. Great location for getting anywhere by foot. We never took a bus or used a car. About halfway between the Vatican and Coliseum. Very nice staff and good size rooms.
“A Definite Must.”
We arrived a few hours before check-in. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful and hospitable. They allowed us to use a restroom to "freshen-up", leave our bags under their watch while we went out to sight-see, provided us with espresso and thoroughly explained how to get around. When we came back, they had already brought our luggage to our room. The room and bathroom were clean, nicely decorated and spacious. The air conditioning was also a nice break from the heat. The breakfast in the morning was excellent and there was a lot to choose from. The location of the hotel was great for a short walk to Camp de'Fiori and an easy and close bus ride to anywhere else in Rome. Lastly, it was nice to be greeted with smiling faces who were always willing to help with anything. A definite must.
“Location, location location!”
Though not fancy, our room was kept immaculately clean for the ten days we were there. The bathroom was modern and well-equipped. The staff was exceptionally helpful (we loved Paulo!)l, but the main plus was location, location, location! We were in a "neighborhood", but only blocks from many of the sites we wanted to visit in Rome.
“"Would visit again"”
Breakfast was more than adequate & room service was thorough & efficient. Unfortunately, noisy construction immediately next door prevented sleeping in after 8:00 a.m. but all in all a good location.
“Friendly and welcoming”
Paolo is the most helpful, knowledgeable and sweetest hotel person in all of Rome. This felt like our home. Breakfast was wonderful and plentiful. We were within walking distance of everything yet in a secret hideaway largo (little piazza) near little restaurants and wish-I-had-more-money-to-spend shops. The Campo de Fiore was a little walk away and we bought tons of outstanding presents (cheap) at the open air mercato. And the room was QUIET!!!! I'd stay there again in a New York second!

Navona - Pantheon, Rome, Italy: In the heart of the historic centre, Piazza Navona is Romes most famous square. Like a giant stage set, this is where the theatre of daily Roman life is re-enacted among the café tables that spill out onto the fountain-splashed piazza. Berninis baroque extravaganza, the Fontana dei Quattro Fiume, is the most celebrated of the three fountains. Nearby is the Pantheon one of Romes great symbols and a marvel of ancient architecture.
