Highly Recommend
Great location! We were able to walk nightly to the Trevi fountain. We were within walking distance of the Pantheon and Colusseum as well. The friendly staff made it a wonderful experience.

We had a wonderful stay at the Residenza Sciarra. We were able to walk to all the major attractions, and restaurants. It was in a wonderful location and we felt very secure there. The restaurant downstairs was excellent as was the staff. Would stay there again.

This place located right in the heart of Rome! There is a very vibrant restaurant by the entrance. The hotel consists of 4-5 rooms and common area for breakfast. Rooms are small. Our room had windows facing back with some construction. Other rooms had better vew. Communication with staff was easy and staff was very helpful.

I usually do not write reviews. Owner not on property. It seems to be vrbo. Communication throught whats app. Which is very minimal even with app. Small elevator that sometimes does not work so be prepared to take your luggage on your own up 4-5 flights of stairs. Need codes to get in. Was not given codes until after I arrives ( i send text back day i booked that I would arrive at 10 am) and found someone from another hotel who helped me. The lady who cleans is the only one for communication which she did not know alot of english or know answers too much. Light breakfast good. Location good. Restaurant at entrance very good and friendly staff.

Dear guest, the check-in instructions were sent to you early in the morning of your arrival, as you can also verify.Apart from this, I was never asked for anything during my stay even though I was always available and available, so obviously you didn't have all this need for staff in the facility.The staff is always available for any problem and if necessary reaches the structure in a few minutes.The access codes are very simple and the guest is promptly informed with very clear explosive videos.

The description of this place does not match reality, but it does have two good points: 1. Location, 2. Hot water in the shower. It’s not a king size bed, there’s no front desk or reception, there’s no laundry service, it’s super hard to find which is so stressful when you first arrive in a new city. We texted with the host but never saw anyone, she wasn’t able to help us in any way, its basically a hostel. If I knew what I was getting into it probably wouldn’t have been so frustrating. The queen size bed was old and had deep grooves on each side with a ridge in the middle that makes you feel like you’re falling off the edge. My husband and I slept on the rickety roll away cots and put our young kids in the main bed it was so bad. I messaged the host and she said that it was memory foam and everyone else loves it. I sleep on a memory foam mattress at home, this is not a feature of memory foam, it’s just an old mattress that needs to be replaced.

The lady was followed step by step since before her arrival at the facility.All the indications are always given to her.our staff is always present and ready to help guests.We only accept real reviews not like this, sorry.So far no one has ever complained about the size of the room or the bed.Unfriendly guests, not recommended.

The hotel owner, staff and the location are amazing. However a few areas for improvement are better details on the actual location and where to enter the building, better air conditioning as the room never cooled off enough and providing shampoo and conditioner would be appreciated.

We stayed at Residenza Sciarra as a family of 4 (2teenagers). The B&B is a little tricky to located, but the taxi driver knew exactly where to take us. The people who run this B&B were very good with communicating with me ahead of time and arranged both the pickup and drop of to the airport. I was able to communicate with them anytime through Whatsapp, so very convenient. The B&B is not manned, but all instructions and door lock codes were all provided to us. The B&B itself is SPOTLESS!!! They are excellent at cleaning. There is housekeeping daily, and towel exchange every 2 days. We never had an issue with anything. The breakfast is continental, with Delicious croissants, little sandwiches, yogurts, cereals, mild and juice and coffee! more than enough to get our day started! The location is absolutely the best and most convenient. Just steps from the Trevi Fountain and Pantheon, and no more than a 20min walk anywhere else. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel, and many taxis available all the time. The rooms are what you can expect from Europe. A little snug for the 4 of us with 4 HUGE suitcases and our bags, but we organized and found our routine, so no problem. Overall, I would say the Residenza Sciarra is a good stay for anyone looking for convenience and a good price!

Decent place, great location
The hosts were super helpful sending instructions and photos to make sure we found the door which is slightly off the main road. Location is amazing. Short walk to all the big sites which was awesome. The room is small - there were 4 people in our room, I think a queen or double and two small cots. The bed had a huge sinkhole. Very uncomfortable but the AC worked and there was coffee and food in the morning.

Overall, it’s a cute B&B type property. The Trevi and Colosseum are decently within walking distance. Has a really tiny elevator to help you with your bags.

I’m sure some folks would be okay with this lodging, but it was our least favorite of the 6 places we stayed in Italy. The location was between restaurants in a very touristy area. Up three flights of stairs to a very small room. Air conditioner hasn’t been cleaned in awhile and was full off dust and smelled like moldy cheese when running. One positive was the car service that was waiting right outside and quickly got us to the airport.

I don’t know how this property has 9.4 rating overall but it was the worst hotel I have ever stayed There was a terrible smell when you enter the hotel. There was a dusty smell when you turn on A/C in the room (probably they don’t change the filters!) Bathroom was so small, shower area was very very small. room was uncomfortable Wi-Fi was terrible, I needed to work sometime but, it was very hard. Breakfast was alright but just ordinary, croissants were not fresh. Anyway, I wouldn’t recommend anyone to stay at this hotel.

The property does NOT look at all like the picture. The place was dirty, walls weren’t even painted, it smelled, etc. When I told the owner we would not stay there and had to find another hotel, I got a smiley face emoji in response! They also charged us the full amount and then another $164 for some unknown reason. They will not refund our money. These people are falsely advertising their property and are terrible. Do not stay here!

Pictures are better than the place. Beds are uncomfortable and indented. Furniture is old and there is not much room for multiple people. Place is clean, but not a place we would choose to stay again. Expensive and needs major upgrades.

The property was so close to all the major sites. The staff was so easy to work with with manager next door. The self checkin process was easy and the noise level was low. The triple room was a bit tight but worked for us. The bathroom was nice although the room could use a bit of updating. There was a restaurant at the bottom of the stairs and they were so friendly. I would stay there again.

Location was great!!! Walking distance to Pantheon and Trevi fountain and lots of shops and restaurants. We had a rental car parking was a little difficult but we were able to find a public parking close to hotel for about $60 a day. The host Sara was very responsive and helpful during our stay. The lady that is there in the morning helping with breakfast was so nice and kind. Everything was clean and smelled good.

Amazing Caterina
She was so helpful. She sent us emails about our upcoming stay, directions etc. She was there when we arrived. She walked us to our room, show us around and explained how things worked and told us what we needed to do to check out, get the bus and train to airport. The breakfast was continental but very good. The rooms were bigger than most and very adequate and bathroom fine. She even came back on her off day to see to our questions that the recept/cleaner could not understand us. She spoke very good English. Very considerate. I highly recommend with a great location.

its someones large apartment converted into a hotel. I was skeptical at first but it felt home very quickly. Everything is euro style tiny, its right in the heart of the neighborhood off a main road, i loved just opening the windows at night and listening to the people below and cars drive by. the windows close and you hear nothing, the rooms are well sound proofed. It was almost too quiet, i wish there was a fan to make noise. Breakfast was served with enthusiasm and was breads and deli meats. Theres a toaster in the room. if you are in a wheel chair you must be able to get down half a flight of stairs to get to the tiny elevator. luckily my mom can walk shot distances. A bit hard to find the right buiding/door, but not too hard, you will just be slightly unsure until you see it. very central to lots of things to see within walking distance.

Ciao! This place is closed to most historical sites, international menu choices of restaurants, shopping, and excellent service. Their responds to us were quick, getting rides, taxis, even with the assistant who doesn’t speak english helped our stay pleasant with their flexibility to the needs of their guest. Thank you, Katarina & your team! This vacation marked a memorable experience for us & looked forward to stay at La Papessa for another future vacation in Rome. Thank you for the driver who drove us back to the airport who was able to get the hotel keys from my husband without us going back to drop them off at your hotel. Grazie!

We had a wonderful stay! The staff is friendly and the room was perfect for our needs. The hotel is right next to a pharmacy for covid testing (you will see a white tent). There is also a great restaurant just steps away. It is a short walk to many major sites. The owners even called a cab for us and stored our bags so we could do some sightseeing after we checked out. Highly recommend!

No need to think twice about staying here! Everything about La Papessa is absolutely perfect. For one, the price is very reasonable for everything you get. It is located right in the heart of everything, under a five minute walk to the Trevi fountain and Pantheon and about a 15-20 minute walk to Vatican and Colosseum. Many great restaurants and shopping all around. There is even a pharmacy right downstairs to take covid tests required for travel. But the main reason I would stay here a million times over is because of host and owner Caterina. She provides such great hospitality and a comforting vibe to every guest that walks through the door that you will not find anywhere else. Upon my booking, Caterina contacted me regarding my flight details and arranged transportation to and from the airport for us (which arrived on time). She also responded in a timely manner for any questions or concerns we had prior to our arrival. Upon arrival, Caterina waited for us to check in, offered us some coffee, showed us our room and provided us with a map and some recommendations. We loved her so much that we rebooked another night here when we returned to Rome before flying out the next morning. I ended up having some issues with my flight the early morning of and she was so kind to allow us to stay another night and found me a pharmacy open on a Sunday for a new Covid test as we arranged a new flight. I cannot say enough good things about her and hope to see her again one day!

If you’re looking for a modern hotel, this is not the place for you. If you’re looking for an authentic Roman experience with staff that do everything they can to help and minutes away from many prominent tourist destinations, then this is the perfect place. 5 minute walk to the Trevi fountain, 8 minute walk to the Pantheon, 20 minute walk to the Colosseum, 30 minute walk to Vatican. I felt like a local going into my flat every night and walking around Rome. It was a fun experience and Catriana really IS as amazing as all the reviews state. She goes above and beyond to make sure every need is met. She sent detailed video instructions for self-check in, photos and texts and emails, and even left a tourist map in our room with highlighted and post-it note comments and suggestions. She made phone calls for us, taxi arrangements, and anything we needed she looked into and got back to us right away. She really made the stay amazing for us.

Excellent stay, welcome and location.
Caterina the owner is outstanding and I highly recommend this beautiful & private hotel. Great location on a main shopping street with an exchange booth and the bus stop just outside of it. The entrance is on the side of the building, just to the left of the pharmacy. Huge thank you for the warm welcome. Excellent! speaks English too

La Papessa has a lot going for it. Three of which is Location. Location and Caterina , the owner. The property was right in the center of everything. It was five minutes away from all the sight. There’s literally a restaurant right out the front door. Caterina arranged our ride from the airport. She gave us other options but that was definitely the way to go. The driver picked us up at the rental car lot at the airport, right on time. Caterina met us at the front door She was warm and welcoming and helped with the luggage. She showed us how to enter the property, use the coffee machine. Something my wife was interested in. She show us how to get to the sights , recommended a very good restaurant that we went to that night. We had such a good time there that my wife left her phone in the taxi after we left the restaurant. Like a very good host Caterina helped us get it back. Eternally grateful. The room was excellent. The fridge was stocked with all sorts of goodies. Yoghurt, juice , water and cold cuts to make sandwiches. There’s cookies and pastries in the common area .She tried to cover our every needs. Our room looked out on the main Avenue, right in front of the bus stop. Thank you Caterina. I truly enjoyed my stay. Looking forward to seeing you again. Ted Stewart

Regarding the coffee machine, I guess you tried to make a coffee in the afternoon/night because only in this case it could be empty of water and it doesn't work In the morning there is always somebody of the staff and the coffee machine always works. The milk is also always in the fridge of the common area. At checkin we ask our guests to contact us 24h in case they need something (free call from the telephone of the reception). I'm sorry you didn't call us. We could have explained you how to (very easy) fill with water and where to find the milk. A Gem of a Place in Rome
Caterina and Giuesspe were outstanding hosts. They went out of their way to ensure my wife and I had an A1 anniversary experience. Champagne was provided as well as a sweet congratulatory note. I would not hesitate to recommend La Papessa to any traveler. It is a diamond of a place. The restaurant just outside the front door is also so amazing. the cuisine is top notch. Our server, Roman,took great care of us.

Nice and Simple with a great Location
I had a great stay here because Catdrina (owner) was very helpful, the price, and location. You are pretty close to the Pantheon, Piazza Venezia, and Trevi Fountain, while being a 15 to 20 minute walk to the Colosseum and Spanish steps. The room was nice and simple. You are getting great value as its not a luxurious place.

Great location and service
Receptionist at the hotel was friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Great location, close to most sightseeing. Breakfast was simple in the mornings.

Caterina is very responsive to my emails before our arrival. Offered booking tours and arranged taxi for airport drop off. She is very sweet and helpful. The room is nice and clean. The only issue is the sofa bed is uncomfortable. There is a hole in the bed. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at La Papessa. It has very convenient location. We walked to most must-see places in Rome including Colosseum.
