My husband and I stayed at the Matisse B & B in September. First...it is a great location...walking distance from the train and metro, in a shopping district with easy access to shopping, restaurants, etc. The Matisse B & B is on a busy street, but to get to it, you enter the building, go through a pleasant courtyard, and then go upstairs...so it is more quiet than you would imagine. The room was pleasant, comfortable and clean. The bathroom was spotless. This is a self-catering B & B...again, the kitchen area was very clean, and it had everything you could want for a breakfast: croissants, coffee, orange juice, fruit, cold cereal, etc. This worked out well, also, because you could have a snack when you returned in the evening. For people like my husband and I, who just want to eat and then head out to see Rome's attractions, it worked perfectly. Our room was not fancy, but it was very clean and very comfortable. We had our own bathroom, and while it was not ensuite, it was just across the hall. A plus was that our room was air-conditioned. The owner, Roberta, was very helpful and nice. The courtyard in the building itself is very peaceful and pleasant....you would never know it is there when you walk by on Via Nazionale. We will stay here again.
