Worst europeon 4* and not child friendly

Posted Sep 17, 2014
Pros: Position ideal, close enough to the Termini and very central. Restaurant, breakfast not perfect but enough choice and italian selection very nice.
Cons: Listen to their customers and update their rooms and fittings
Location: One block from the termini but far enough away that not a tacky area. Many tourist attractions close by and tours can be bought.
Booked 2 rooms as we were 4 adults and had 2 small toddlers, ages were given on the booking form. Arrived to find not only rooms not together but on different floors and nothing could be done because they were full. One room adequate but scruffy looking with run-down and broken fittings. Puny thin pillows and scratchy blankets instead of duvets, also no clocks. Second room totally unsuitable and dangerous for children. Wobbly metal campbed squeezed into the room right up against the desk, leaving only a few inches to squeeze past to the bathroom. Balcony with double doors that did not lock and were easy for my toddlers to open. Balcony with a smally wall easily climbable, so I ended up moving furniture to block it for safety reasons. Fridge in room but not allowed to use for own milk or yoghurts (for the children) and on checking out have been charged 6euros for the minibar when the only thing I used were 4 tiny milk sachet for a cup of coffee. 5 floors of rooms but only 1 rickety tiny lift and did not stop paralell with the floor, about 2 inches higher. On one occasion my husband tripped and scrapped his ankle quite nastily.

Great hotel

Location: Santa Maria Maggiore church was a two minute walk from the hotel.
Location is very good, close to Termini station. Rooms were good, bathroom is a little small but very clean. Excellent breakfast on the rooftop with great views.

Macenate Palace hotel has a nice old world charm.

The room was clean the mattress was just ok but I found a comfortable side. The shower water temperature was very difficult to regulate but overall I would stay there again. It is convenient to everything and the staff was helpful.

Nice hotel good location

Posted Aug 30, 2014
Pros: Every thing. Had a great roof top bar and restaurant. Were we had breakfast. Views over the city. Room wasn't big but every thing you need
Cons: Nothing to hotel
Location: Location was great for all places. Bus stop over rd tram about 2 streets away it was only 5mins walk from the termini
We just got back from 3 nights in rome. Weather great hotel was fab. May be a little expensive to eat there and drinks but we had a double deluxe room with city view. It was amazing room very clean towels and bedding changed every day !! Lovely service we arrive before room was ready but was able to leave our bags and set off to see the city. We got ominia. Passes. On line before we went Which were great for " hop on hop off bus ". Open top great for seeing most sites from and getting into the Vatican fast tracking all the long q's. To get in also gets u tour guide. Amazing city to visit lots of walking so go with good walking shoes . Eating out. Is good lots of places all over to eat. Lots of little mobile vans with sandwiches and pizza , drinks , day time. Lots of water fountains we didn't use as wasn't sure if we could drink the water but people were filling there bottles from them. We were a bit disappointed with the trevi fountain it was under going work when we got there and also the fountain at the Spanish steps. , the shoppe around the Spanish steps are lovely , all top designers We got the fast train from the airport. Which took 30mins and our hotel was only 5mins walk from the termini. We recommend. The hotel we had a great time although we were shatter. From looking and walking. Great experience. As my husband is into scooter. We found a vesper museum by the colosseum But he was disappointed we never seen one Lambretta. Great city 👍

Comfy hotel close to train

Posted Aug 28, 2014
This hotel was a good choice. I loved eating breakfast and dinner on the rooftop terrace overlooking Saint Maria's Church. There also was some great restaurants down one of the small streets close by with good non-tourist prices. The surrounding neighborhood felt a little dirty at first but there are several neighborhoods in Rome. You could easily take the train a few blocks away to any location or walk! Train was super easy to use. Everyone at hotel spoke English. Would recommend!

Family trip to Rome to take in the sights

Posted Aug 19, 2014
Pros: Great location and friendly staff who were willing to help and offer advice.
Cons: Nothing overall.
Location: The Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore opposite the hotel is a must see and room facing it would have been perfect.
We had a wonderful family break in Rome, the hotel was perfect for our needs, offering us an apartment and breakfast on the roof terrace, which also had a restaurant and bar for the evening. Beign only 10 minutes from the Termini (train station) and oppostie the imposing Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore made it a great location. We walked to the majority of sights - Colosseum, Pantheon, Villa Borghese and hopped on the bus or train whenever needed. In the evenings we found local trattorias and had simply great Italian food every time! Overall our 5-day Rome experience was one to remember and we're planning a return trip to see more of what the city has to offer and enjoy the whole Italian experience.

Hotel a cut above most

Posted Aug 17, 2014
Pros: It had charm and character
Cons: The restaurant on the roof could be improved but the views diverted our attention to detail.
Location: The Termini area itself is not pleasant but it was easy to get to everywhere from this Hotel.
View from hotel room and roof terrace was fantastic. Staff from porter to Manager all brilliant. Hotel building itself a cut above most.

Great central location

Posted Aug 14, 2014
Pros: Our room was not in the actual main Hotel, but about 1/2 a block down up a lot of stairs. It was a great room though as it had plenty of room for us 4
Location: pretty much within walking distance to most everything we wanted to see. Nearby restaurants were good too.
European vacation for me, my wife and 2 kids from S.F, CA. Had a tremendous time! Mecenate Palace was just perfect. Staff was helpful and hotel was pretty much within walking distance to most everything we wanted to see. Nearby restaurants were good, and morning breakfast & evening cocktails on the roof were outstanding! Definitely recommend it!

A good place to stay

Posted Aug 11, 2014
Very convenient location close to the railway station/metro/bus etc. Breakfast OK if a bit eccentric. Room was good though bed too firm for my taste. WiFi didn't work at first but the staff made sterling and successful efforts to get it fixed. Staff were helpful and pleasant, and the bar staff in the SkyBar were fun, especially Romolo. We stayed there twice, a week apart. Would recommend staying there.

A Wonderful Stay In Rome

Posted Aug 6, 2014
Pros: The Mecenate Palace is very friendly, comfortable (air-conditioning is great in very hot weather) and perfectly positioned.
Cons: I don't know how they could improve it. I can't criticise it in any way.
Location: We were just usual tourists just wanting to see the sights. We walked to some. Access to the Metro and tour buses were close by and easy to use.
The Hotel Mecenate Palace was I think the best hotel we have ever stayed in. I can't praise it enough. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms immaculately clean and very comfortable. Our position was ideal for so many of Rome's wonderful sights. We started each day with a delicious breakfast, which always gets you off to a great start. I simply can not think of any negative thing to say about the Mecenate Palace. Any one can come here in complete confidence of a great stay in this magnificent city!
