Disappointing stayPosted Oct 5, 2014
Pros: Less than 10 minute walk to Colusseum
Cons: There should be someone accessible at all times of the day. Have better lighting. Charge less for room.
The directions to find the address were too vague and we got lost. Once we got there an assistant who spoke no English greeted us and showed our room. It was spacious but had little furniture (the narrowest twin beds in Europe!). We had to open our luggage on the floor. There was no overhead lighting in room or hall, just a small light by each bed, so very dim. Very noisy in evening (we could hear people in the courtyard as if they were with us in the room). The bathroom was very tiny. Continental breakfast included coffee where the machine was in a separate room on the other side of the office (we couldn't get it to work). We went out on morning that we were leaving and locked our key card in the room by mistake: you had 1 key to get into the building, a key card to get into the office (and use it in the room for electricity) and another key to get into your room that was the other side of the office. I texted the absentee owner but received no reply. Eventually other renters came out and let us in! All very stressful!

Lovely, traditional B&B in fabulous locationPosted Jul 5, 2014
This is a wonderful, very 'Italian' B&B in a great location - 10 mins walk through a beautiful park to the Coloseum. Camilla & all staff were very helpful. The room was clean & comfortable with air con. We felt very safe in this lovely area & felt almost like we were living like locals! Breakfast was simple but adequate & everything you needed was available, eg hair dryer, fridge, coffee machine. This is not for someone looking a luxury hotel near the Spanish Steps with round the clock staff, but for those looking comfortable, Italian charm with a central location it is perfect. We had a fabulous trip!! Ps. If you are a light sleeper like me bring earplugs for the street noise - a tiny price to pay for the location!

perfect locationPosted Jun 29, 2014 on Hotels.com
It is a 2 minute walk to the coloseum. Street is relatively quiet so sleep wasn't a problem. The room was furnished to a high standard. and reasonably priced.

Central location with quiet rooms.Posted May 28, 2014
Cons: our bathroom walls are water stained, so it should be cleaned better.
Location: The Colosseum is close by, we also walked 10 minutes to the Roma Termini.
I really like the location of the hotel, but the staff aren't always there so we waited a while outside on the sidewalk before we could check in.

great locationPosted May 21, 2014 on Hotels.com
This little B&B is just about a 10 minute walk from the Colosseum, but not in a super loud or busy tourist area. On a relatively quiet street, although since the 4 room are only on ground level and the window looks out to the street, it can be kind of loud. The windows are kind of funky, so you either have to choose privacy or an open window. The staff was very helpful and kind, and the room was clean and spacious. High recommend!

Way better than the other similar Rome HotelsPosted Oct 17, 2013 on Hotels.com
Our first night was at Bundi House (San Daniele) and Mercenate was way way better. Better rooms, better internet, more space, cleaner, nicer bathroom (tub vs baby sized shower) just better everything, except maybe location. Not to say that the location of this hotel was bad. If you can walk you're fine. Colosseum is super close with a nice walk through a park. And all the other sites are close so it's all super easy. Best bang for our buck we've stayed in so far in Italy.

Great hidden gem near the ColosseumPosted Oct 7, 2013 on Hotels.com
Great find in the heart of the city; 5 min. walk, thru a park to the Colosseum. Camilla met us early in the morning to check us in and show us around. Breakfast was provided every morning and a small kitchenette was available to use all day for coffee, juice, cookie, etc. A great plus. Room was very large and bathroom, with tub, was terrific. Windows opened for fresh air but room also had a/c.

Pretty, modern room in great locationPosted Sep 29, 2013
We were very pleased with our room and the service, especially from Camilla, she was so helpful. Room was very clean & pretty. There is some street noise but it didn't bother us at all. A 5 min walk to the colosseum and metro. A bit tricky to find the front door but just look at the number & read all the names by the intercoms. Excellent meal down the street at trattoria morgana.
