“bad hotel”
the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, and although it has a shuttle service without it... it is very difficult to access it. The employees are suspicious, and charge you for everything. The unguarded parking is dangerous, dont leave anything in the car, it will be stolen. in general I didnt like the hotel and the service.
“The hotel personal was very nice and friendly.”
I enjoy the Melia Hotel. The breakfast was great!
“Rome's Melia”
I had a 4 night stay in the Melia hotel in Rome from 30 Jul-3 Aug. The hotel is wonderful, but its 20 minutes from the airport and 20 minutes from downtown Rome. The hotel has a free shuttle from hotel to near Vatican area running from about 0800 to 2200...great plus. I wish the hotel had a free shuttle to the airport. We took a cab from the airport to the hotel and it was about 41 euro, bags are 1 euro extra a piece so we paid 45 euro...same for the trip back. I was not pleased with the receptionist upon our arrival because she was on the phone and ignored us until she finished her conversation of about 15 mins. I thought a simiple, "I'll be right with you." would have done the trick. The bellman was very nice, could probably see that someone should say something and he told us that she would be with us soon. The room was very clean and we have a nice view of the hotel pool and bar/restaurant area. The room also included several ammenities incase you forgot toothbrush/paste, shampoo, soap, shaving kit, and had a mini fridge. The bed was very comfortable. No wifi in the room only LAN cable, but wifi in other parts of the hotel...all at cost. I would stay there again if I planned on a longer vacation of 1wk or more.
“My refuge in Rome”
This hotel was perfect for our visit to Rome. The location and shuttle service offered us a chance to sightsee in the beautifel city setting, but then retreat to a cool and quiet place to rest and relax before the next tour. The pool is fantastic, we used it everyday!
“Not Impressed, far from everything”
My husband and I chose this hotel based on some reviews given by other guests. People said it was close to the metro which was not true. It was a 15-20 minute ride down to the first metro station which would make that a good half hour to 45 minute walk. The surrounding neighboorhood was totally sketchy that you wouldn't dare want to walk around there at night. The hotel itself looked old and it doesn't look like they changed their carpets in a while. Our room had a stain on the carpet the size of a basketball and we were afraid to even walk barefoot. The only good thing is that they had a shuttle from the hotel to the Vatican (they only have one pick-up and drop-off location). But the last shuttle back to the hotel was at 10pm which doesn't do us any good since it gets dark around 9pm. We wanted to see the sights at night but that was not feasible because of the shuttle service schedule. We would have taken the cab but the cab fare back to the hotel was about 40 euros.
“Very nice hotel, I would certainly consider this Hotel for my next visit”
This was a very nice, clean hotel. They have a nice clean small gym, and nice pool. Very friendly staff and very helpful as well. It was a distance from Rome itself, but they had very nice shuttle bus service, and they were always on time-coming and going. The drop off spot was absolutely perfect next to the Vatican and we always made sure to get to the pick up spot early when returning to the hotel and get a Gelato from the place across the street.
“I would recommended”
If the purpose of you visit is to visit the vatican this is the perfect hotel for your stay.
“Would choose Milia again!!”
The hotel was out of town in a quiet area, but the shuttle bus made it convenient. The front desk people were most helpful and spoke English!! The room was large for European standards and was nicely decorated. The bath was also nice size and had all the conveniences that we find in the USA and more. Choose it, you won't regret it.
“Melia Roma”
We had a great time. Rome is beautiful.....They have shuttles every 90 minutes or so to and from the city to the location of a metro stop so it made it really easy to get around the city. Last shuttle to the hotle is at 10 pm which gives you plenty of time to explore the City. The location is about 20 minutes ina tour bus from the shuttle drop which is blocks from Vatican City. Over all we got a great price, hotel was very friendly and clean. We would definately recommmend staying there. Only drawback is that there is only one place to eat inthe Hotel (pricey) and nothing around the Hotel with in walking distance.
“A little out of the way...”
We went to the Melia Roma Aurelia Antica hotel in May 2010. We were only in Rome for the weekend, and had not planned ahead for a shuttle from the airport to the hotel. When we were driving to the hotel in the shuttle, I became alarmed b/c we were traveling on rural country roads away from the city. The hotel is situated all by itself about 20 minutes from Vatican City. The hotel offers a free shuttle to it's guests, and that runs hourly from 8:30 to 10pm, I believe, so that helped. Taxis aren't expensive to and from the hotel, and there is a bus stop close to the hotel (although you have to walk down the hill past the smell of sheep and half a dozen dumpsters of garbage. Aside from being farther from the city than we had hoped, the hotel was very comfortable and the staff were very helpful and accommodating. You should check out the two hotel gift shops before you buy souveniers in the heart of Rome, b/c the prices and selection is far better at the hotel. If we return to Rome and have limited time, we would likely stay closer to the city, but this would be a good getaway for a longer stay.
