Rome 2014

Posted Sep 5, 2014
This hotel is in a great location close to the Colosseum metro station, bus stops on the doorstep that seem to cover most of the city, trams and easy walks to bars, restaurants and glaceria. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is spotlessly clean and in good order. The rooftop terrace and pool are a huge bonus! Wonderful view and relaxing after a long days sightseeing. I would love to return to the Mecure and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it!

Excellent spot and super clean

Posted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: The breakfast was awesome and the maids did a great job cleaning - never left a spot.
Cons: The only thing that bothered me a little - the maid forgot to leave me instant coffee twice. However there was great coffee in the cafeteria.
Location: The coliseum was two blocks away, the metro was close - two metro stops Metro B and Metro A. Restaurants were a few blocks away.
When I first stepped into my room I thought - how small, but it was actually perfect for me. Its modern, elegant, just enough room, and best of all clean. The staff was extremely hospitable and friendly (they were always smiling and willing to help.) It was my home away from home as far as comfort level. It was in a great spot, just close enough to be near everything but not too close where you get traffic and city noise. Excellent hotel.

Excellent location close to the colluseum.

Posted Aug 27, 2014
Pros: Rooftop pool and bar, breakfast and location.
Cons: For the price and location - nothing.
Location: The hotel was close to the colluseum and about a 20 minute walk from the pantheon. Bus tours/stops and the Metro station were about 5 minutes away.
We have just returned from a very enjoyable weekend in Rome where we stayed at the Mercure Roma Centro Colosseo. The hotel was in an excellent location just 5 minutes from the Colluseum itself and had everything we needed. The hotel was excellent value for money. Hotel staff were very helpful. I would recommend paying a bit extra and including the breakfast when booking. There was a wide selection and it set us up perfectly for the rest of the day. The icing on the cake was the swimming pool on the roof where we could cool off in the afternoon (temperature in Rome was about 30 degrees plus) after some morning sightseeing. Rooms were clean and bottled water was supplied in the mini bar. All in all a very nice hotel in a great location for a price that didn't break the bank.

Lovely Hotel close to the Colosseum

Posted Aug 23, 2014
Pros: Rooftop swimming pool and terrace bar.
Cons: nothing in particular
Location: The hotel is very close to the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill.
Lovely Hotel with Colosseum view from rooftop swimming pool and terrace bar. Our room also had a view of the Colosseum. The hotel is a great place to stay, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace every morning in the sunshine was a lovely way to start the day. After spending the day exploring Rome it was lovely to come back and spend some time relaxing in the rooftop pool. The rooms were very clean and comfortable with nice bathrooms. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Rome.

Great location, very clean! Terrible Breakfast.

This is the perfect location for sight seeing and walking distance to most sites. The room was very nice with the exception of having less than one foot clearance between the foot of the bed and the wall. This would not be a good choice for anyone with balance issues or bad knees, ankles as you may injure yourself trying to get thru. The staff was very courteous and friendly but not very helpful. They don't act put out with helping when asked questions, they just give very bad information that can result in a lot of wasted time. The rooftop pool is a joke. It's like an above ground pool and they shut it down at 7 so you can't even enjoy or photograph the sunset over the coliseum. If the pool and the excruciatingly slow elevator were better, this hotel would easily be a 5. The breakfast is awful and extremely overpriced. I would still stay here again and was happy with the value.

Modern hotel in good location

Posted Aug 22, 2014
Pros: Clean, modern , air conditioned, roof top pool and terrace bar.
Cons: Evening meals available at the hotel.
Location: 300m from the colosseum and Metro. Restaurants about 200m away. Generally a residential area. You will have to travel/walk to all the other sights.
Relatively small , clean, modern hotel well located for Colosseum. Reasonable prices. Well air-conditioned throughout. Rooms very small for 4* but typical for Rome. Stylish, comfortable and recently renovated. Beds comfy. No family rooms though so unsuitable for families unless able to split into separate rooms (which we did with teenage children). Small rooftop pool with spectacular views a bonus. Get there early if you want one of the few sun loungers. Continental breakfast on rooftop terrace good value and a nice way to start each day. No facilities for evening meals (very limited room service menu) but many good restaurants about 200 metres away (towards Colosseum). A few very small "mini - mart" shops in the area for drinks / crisps but be warned - very limited selection. Unless you want crisps for tea you will have to go out to the restaurants or eat before you go back to the hotel. Evening drinks on the terrace bar a lovely way to end the day. Recommend to anyone except families with young children or those who like large rooms.
