Really good location you can walk to the colloseum and Vatican and other big areas. Close to metros and main rome train station. Room was very tiny, and smelled like sewage in the bathroom. Check in process was bad we had to wait outside the door for 30 minutes and I think the front desk guy was busy or sleeping and we had to bang on the door and wait for 30 mins to get him to come to the desk. Great value for the price, you get what you pay for, would suggest this place for folks on a budget, without any expectations for a nice place, this can be considered a place to stay on a budget

It’s served it’s purpose as a place to stay but I was very unhappy when I arrived. It’s in a complex of other flats for the locals which wasn’t an issue but is not in the description of the property. The lights as you walk in were flickering which didn’t fill me with much joy. The rooms are a lot smaller than expected but our room was clean, bed was comfortable and bathroom was clean. However we had to buy our own toilet paper as the staff leave the property after 3pm so we had no chance to ask them for some as we had tours planned for our trip. Overall it was okay but I was a bit disappointed.

Cute little B&B, you get a keychain with multiple keys as there are multiple doors with locks to get through - but it’s easy and feels safe. Several cafes below the B&B make for quick and easy snacks. Front desk spoke limited English but the main housekeeping lady was fluent and very sweet. Remember that you need to pay a €20 tax and it’s cash only!

The room was not as shown in pictures. TINY room that smelled like cigarettes. Poor ventilation with a loud air conditioner that was quite weak. It served it's purpose as a 1 night stay and was at a good location.

2 nights stay in Rome
The accommodation is close to Collosseum (10min walk), the rooms were clean, bright and nicely furnished. Comfy beds, nice shower. The only thing that I'd recommend to change was the Air Conditioning, as that is an older type and extremely noisy. I could not sleep well as it was right next to my head under the window. Sounded like a noisy car :) . Please change that so others will not experience the same. Everything else was fantastic and the person who checked us in was super nice and helpful. Thank you !

Great little spot in the Center of Rome
What a great little spot right in the centre of Rome. Great little coffee shop downstairs that made the visit even better. Hosts were very accommodating as our flight arriving late.

Good place to stay in Rome
Lovely, small hotel in a good location. Room was comfortable and well kept with daily housekeeping. Fridge and air con were good. Nice shower. Location good. Lots of restaurant options close by for breakfast/ dinner/ gelato/ drinks. Metro a few mins walk away (Vittorio Emanuele). It is a busy area so can be noisy outside. Staff very welcoming and helpful.

Expedia screwed up on booking site. Can not get refund even though I booked 2 months ahead. Hotel claims it is Expedia policy. Bull crap, given the hotel got my money. They can override "Expedia's policy", which BTW, condition are set by hoyel. And refund me. They got my money and I did not stay at all. Good profit.

There are wonderful local restaurants near by. My room was very hot because the air conditioner wasn’t working. I had to open the window to sleep with very traffic noises. The hosts were smell horrible with bad personal hygiene. The floor was mopped with dirty mop head and smelled.

The hotel had a fantastic location with only a short walk to major sites in Rome. The rooms were a bit small and lack-luster but if you're looking for a reasonable price in a great location and not a 5-star comfort hotel then this one is great.

Bit cramped, but quite convenient.
Definitely a decent place for sure. The staff were fine and dandy (I didn't speak to them much though). Due to a mix-up we ended up getting a single bed room for the two of us. It was also pretty warm and there was no air conditioning. Finally the whole room was pretty small. None of this was major since our price was quite good considering where we were located.
I regret the incident and if one day I return I will be happy to give you a standard room. thanks for voting

No car parking
The only reason I was inclined to this hotel compared to the ones that offer free breakfast is free parking. However, to my surprise, I was told that there no parking area for the hotel and I had to park my car on the road with a risk of my car being towed by police. Shouldnt be advertising of free parking if you cannot provide it

Good location
We spent one night in February, the weather was really pleasant. The hotel is very simple also they were having works, so the hallway, reception were a bit mess. The room was big, bed OK for couples, wardrobe, armchair, mini fridge, clean linen, hitter, small toilet with hot shower, it was good for the bargain we paid. The only downside was the noise from the main street that our room was located, but we expected when we booked. If you looking for a place just for sleep I recommend it.

Good Hotel, little loud.
The hotel is in a good location. The surrounding neighborhood is really nice. We passed the hotel the first time as it is not marked well. Make sure to have the address. It is just past Pepe's restaurant. The hotel room was a good nice and bed was comfortable. The only negative thing about this hotel is it can be a little loud in the night from the traffic. It wasn't horrible but light sleepers may not like it. The staff was very friendly and explained where everything was on a map. Good hotel for the price.

Great small hotel. We really loved this hotel. On business travels we normally stay at the 4 or 5 star hotels. Merulana Star is of course very different. This is a small and quiet place to sleep. And very clean. Exactly what we needed while discovering Rome.

This hotel is actually several floors in a condominium building not on the first floor, so it is easily missed. Also the street numbers on Via Meraluna dont run like they do in the United States. Hotel is approximately 5 blocks from Santa Maria Maggiore. YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN BATH SOAP AND SHAMPOO!!!!!!!!!!! YES hard to believe. There is hand soap dispenser but no bath soap. Rooms are larger and cleaner then most budget hotels. Location close to Termini is great. No restaurant but plenty located just nearby. No phone in room. Person is at front desk until last person comes in then they leave till 6:30am so wake up calls before that not possible. All considered good value for right price.

Great stay for the price
The location was excellent, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Sure the rooms are small but they are air conditioned and the beds are clean. We stayed hear as a group of 5 in July and were perfectly happy with our choice.

Of course I always expect the room to be slightly less attractive than the photos, but the room was way less. Upon arrival the staff was very friendly, gave us a map and circled areas for us. However, the room was very small, I could only walk around the bed to the bathroom. The only thing I was happy about was the private bathroom because I felt that I was in a hostel. There was a flat screen TV, I would have preferred a fan or AC. I read previous reviews that warned about the noise, but I did not expect it to be that bad. My window opened to the busy street and it was crazy loud all night long. I felt that I paid too much, so I switched hotels the next morning.

Good location and very affordable
This place is located on the second floor of a building. Its small but has the basics. I would definately stay there again since it was close to the Colosseum, Metro and train station. The price was very reasonable and it was great for us since we just stayed there to sleep. If you will stay in the hotel for a lot of time during the day I would recommend you go somewhere else. PROS: location, price, clean, friendly staff. CONS: no AC/fan, very small room.

The staff was very nice. The room was small, though. The bathroom was pretty good, except that the toilet sometimes took forever to stop running. Everything was spotlessly clean. Definitely worth the price. Highly recommend.

10mins walking distance from termini on a nice street and very close to Colosseum. Receptionist gave us a map with a route to see the sights. He were also very helpful when we needed to use the printer. Rooms had a little fridge which was handy. There was a bit of a weird smell in the room, and all my clothes smelled bad when I got home but overall it was good value for money.

Simple but clean and good location
I stayed here when my Mother was visiting (I live in Rome). The Merulana Star is simple and clean. No bells and whistles but was good for the overnight stay prior to my mother's departure. Would definitely recommend.

Merulana Star
A no star rating should not prevent you from considering this pleasant little hotel. Though not fancy this family run hotel has the friendliest and most helpful staff you are ever likely to meet. There are some very good restaurants nearby and transportation links are convenient. It is very good value.
