comodo alla stazione e al metro'Posted Jun 10, 2014
Cons: scale un po' vecchie ma tutto il palazzo le e' mentre le camere sono state ristrutturate
Location: stazione termini., metropolitana linea a e b

Functional Hostal near Termini and RepublicaPosted May 29, 2014
Pros: Cleanliness of the rooms, wc. Functionality. Availability and kindness of the staff
Cons: The features are in the same tier as the price you pay for it. No complaints except for the breakfast-buffet coffee.
Location: Termini is a horrible neighbourhood, but it is the main station in Rome. It is also close to Republica which is a nicer place.
We stayed for 3 nights in Papa Germano and it was a good experience. The surroundings are a bit depressing, but you can quickly get to Republica which is a much nicer place. The Hostal itself is essentially functional, with kind personal that speaks english quite fluently, nice and clean rooms (the wc's have been recently rebuild and they look really neat), comfortable beds and pillows, even a TV (that we never used, but hey, it's there). There are PC's at the reception and the wifi works decently well. The 5€ breakfast buffet option follows the philosophy of the Hostel: nothing remarkable for good or bad, variety and quality are ok, except for the coffee, which is essentially disgusting sullied water. There is a panneteria nearby (called 3P) that has amazing stuff (you should try their Margherita at least once) at very good prices ,so unless you are an avid early-morning eater I would recommend that option. At any rate, the in-hostel bf is still a solid alternative. We had no problems with noise except for two times when the fire alarm rang, probably because some folks were smoking. Nothing to blame the Hostel for at any rate. In conclusion: an average hostel that will cover your basic needs for a reasonable price (taking into account the location) and a nice staff that is always kindly available to answer to your requests. If you're in a trip with friends or your boy/girlfriend and don't require an specifically romantic setting, this is a good place to stay.

affordable hostel close to train stationPosted May 23, 2014
Pros: Ataff were friendly, and room was clean. Sharing a bathroom was no problem as there were two.
Location: Great Italian eatery just across the street. Hotel is very close to Termini (if you exit on the east side of stn) but a ltle far from main attractions
Very suitable for price, close to train station but a little far from main attractions unless you take metro. Fine for 2 night stay which is what we did.

Papa Germano—GreatPosted May 21, 2014
Cons: Probably the smell mentioned in another review, but it was only in the bathroom for a few day—no major problem.
Location: 5 minutes north of Termini train and Metro station. Many restaurants and food stores. Very convenient location.
The room was impeccable. The hotel staff were fun and very helpful. Free computers to use. Breakfast was excellent—ham, cheese, yogurt, fruit, roll, juice, cereal (€5 good deal). Coffee was supposedly American coffee—could be a lot better.

It was very clean, had good wifi and had nice, accommodating people at the desk. It has shared bathrooms which isnt ideal, and has more of a hostel feel, but was nice for someone on a budget.
