“Jason Solomon”
Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Had no problem with the languge bairer. I room was great. Serverd a really nice breakfast each morning. Only problem with the hotel it is not around anything major in Rome, but on the up side the Metro is very close by and if was very easy to travel on in and around Rome and I have three childern two that were in strollers.
“Runners and Walkers Delight!”
First time to Rome. I am a runner and was thrilled to have the park across the street to run in for miles! The park has many acres of mowed paths through a wild wheat field. In the park and from the terrace are views of the Vatican City. The terrace was wonderful to eat a picnic supper and sip on wine. The breakfast was great. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again!
“Great hotel at fair price”
The area was not the greatest, but the hotel was very nice at a reasonable price. There was a Metro (subway) station nearby, so it was a short commute to central Rome. The area was a quiet residental area. Hotels in central Rome, usually around Termini station, can be found for the same price or less, but those were usually 1 or 2 star hotels. I guess it would be up to one's personal preferences whether one would prefer a nice hotel near the outside of the city or a low quality hotel in the center. For the same price, I personally would pick this hotel again, as I thought the Termini area seemed kind of rough at night (and my guidebook also hinted at that).
“Not really happy with it.”
A long walk to the Metro. No place to buy food when you get hungry at night. No really good place to eat in the morning. Bed is tiny and hard. Breakfast is nauseating by the 2nd day. You will get tired of the same thing everyday. Graveyard receptionist is so fake. Internet is overpriced. No room service whatsoever. Jacuzzi Leaks. You will flood your bathroom. Surrounding neighborhood is not pleasing.
“Nice surroundings”
very cozy little place. Feels like a getaway from the city in a nature setting. very comforting and secure.
“Pinewood does the job”
Location isn't great, but it is near a Metro station at the end of the red line. Hotel itself is nice and comfortable, but has small rooms typical in Europe. Breakfast was included and was a bit more expansive than in other Italian hotels, but not a full hot breakfast that you might get in the US. Customer service was 50/50. Sometime staff was really helpful. Other times, it felt like we were imposing by asking the most simple questions. I'd stay here again, but 4 starts in Italy is not the same as 4 stars in the US. Don't expect luxury, just simple comfort.
“Nice Price, Somewhat misleading location”
The location of the hotel says it's a "few stoops" from the Vatican. What this really means is that its a 10 minute walk to the Metro and a 10 minute Metro ride into Rome - somewhat misleading. Walls were very thin. Other than that very helpful desk staff, quiet neighborhood, and very cheap rates make it a good place if you're looking for a cheap place to stay in the suburbs of Rome.
“A little out of the way of the mainstream, but buses and subway within walking.”
We were a little skeptical of this hotel. We picked the expedia last minute deal, got a 3 star hotel in rome cheap. Didn't know what we were getting until we committed and paid for it. It was a little out of the mainstream, but could get into the main city by bus, outside hotel door. Subway a short walk from hotel. The concierge was fantastic, recommended a great local restaurant and really was helpful with getting around and arranging a Taxi to the hotel for us. Would definitely go back and recommend this hotel.
“Not Impressed with the Hotel; Exceptional Staff”
Single guy, single room, three nights, first time in Rome. Positive: Staff was extremely friendly, spoke excellent english and helped me with everything. Staff was awesome. Very impressed with the staff. And they sell tickets to the Metro at the front desk. Bathroom was nice. Negative: Neighborhood is borderline ghetto. Hotel is kind of dirty. They clean "at" it, but not like a professional would. Marks on the walls, dirty bar, slushy machine with contents god knows how old... Room was pretty tiny, like 9' x 4'. Bed was like sleeping on door (highly suggest a night-cap or two). WIFI was overpriced. Television was like a 10" screen that gets maybe 12 channels... not really important if you're sight-seeing... still, 10"? Why even make a TV that small? Place under television where a mini-bar could have gone, but, alas, no mini-bar. Thin walls. Heard a dog barking in one of the other rooms. More interesting than annoying. No room service, but it is better to eat out and experience the restaurants. It's not a palace, but it does beat a tent. You will survive.
“A great, clean hotel at an even better price”
I really enjoyed staying at pinewood - the standard room was the perfect size for us and the room service was great and the staff was very clean. great little hotel away from the hustle and bustle. great jacuzzi - added bonus after they upgraded us for free!!! Breakfast was more than enough. It was nice to have a grocery store down the street and there was a wine bar about 1 mile away that had food at a very reasonable price (huge piece of homeade lasagna for 5 euros....closer to the vatican/rome it would be about 9 euros for a smaller piece and they would let you do takeout which was extremely rare everywhere else),
