Unfriendly staff and in the middle of nowhere!
Posted Jan 15, 2013
Pros: Clean room.
Cons: Staff.
Location: Need a taxi to get into centre, middle of nowhere!
Hotel looked good on paper but it's not. Staff simply did not want to know and were not very helpful. The hotel is about 20 Euros in a taxi away from the centre, this varies depending on the time of day. The hotel puts on a free bus to the Metro but it only seats 8 people and runs every few hours so 1st come 1st serve! The restaurant was the most expensive we went to all holiday, went there when we arrived, food was nothing special. Breakfast is held in a small room that holds about 50 so when everyone comes down thee is simply not enough seats. Breakfast consists of fruit juice, tea/coffee, cereal, cold ham, cheese and danish pastry, not worth the hassle. Room was basic but clean, pool area was ok. This is not a 4 star hotel!!

Pros: Checking out.
Cons: Relaxation non existent
Location: Terrible location. Access to public transport is deadly by walking along a narrow road with blind bends.
The hotel was miles out from Rome and access to public transport was dangerous to say the least. The rooms sliding doors would not lock and the trim was hanging off the glass. The room safe was not attached to anything so could easily be carried out the room by a thief. There was no wifi in the rooms and tho only way to get it was to ask the under-enthusiatic staff who got annoyed when you asked for anything. The hotel is used by visiting school groups, so the chances of getting any peace and quiet was out of the question. As for breakfast, I have never seen such bad service. Coffee machines not working, no food left, stale cereal and bread.....if there was any, fruit juice watered down and no cutlery. The only good thing about the hotel was leaving.

remote location

Firstly the hotel is neither close to the commercial centre nor to any of the tourist attractions. They dont have anything to offer for tourists, not even a flier, very disappointing. Luckily we were busy with our tour, cause i doubt they had anything to offer for the guests. They dont cater to the tastes of asians foodwise, no choice absolutely. WiFi facility was exhorbitant. The room had a very old n illmaintained look.

Very far.

The hotel itself is not bad, a few hiccups being we were asked to leave the room before 12 for cleaning, and the room sometimes would not be cleaned until around 3 in the afternoon. The hotel is very far from anything really. Not really any restaurants around the area, no shops, nothing. The shuttle service they offer is a fantastic idea because you are so far away, however the times are every 4 hours which makes things very difficult and the shuttle bus service was almost always late on pick up. The food at the hotel was very overpriced, especially considering the quality of it. But staff were generally very helpful. For the price it was good, however it may be worthwhile to spend the extra and stay somewhere closer to the main parts of rome... unless you dont mind spending money on cabs to and from.

The Hotel Rouge & Noir

Offensive odor in the room at all times - mgmt was unable to fix it; far away from sights; nothing (public transportation, food, shopping, etc) at walking distance.

Average service, nice enough hotel.

Staff not very helpful, however cleanliness of room was great. There were a few small things that could be improved on, such as the maintenance of the room, such as peeling wallpaper in a couple of places though. The pool was very clean, although it we were informed we had to pay to use the pool we were not informed before we booked that it was a community pool so members of the general public could pay to use it also, so at times it was busy with lots of children. The shuttle bus service was very useful and reliable, however the times that it runs are very random and at one point of the day there is a 5 and a half hour gap between services leaving the hotel to the city centre. The location of the hotel is good if you do not like to be in the middle of everything as it takes 15 mins to get to the city centre, this has its positives and negatives for us; we had a great view of the landscape and it was very quiet and secluded around the hotel however the local shop was quite a walk away, down bendy roads with no footpath and there was only one shady looking restaurant nearby. The breakfast is available is awful, although the lunch and dinner food was nice enough we chose to eat elsewhere. Another small complaint is we were supposed to have 3 English channels on our TV, but only one worked even when we asked to we were stuck with CNN all week, but then again I didn’t go to Rome to watch TV. Overall this hotel was good enough for me, but don’t expect much for the four stars.

Food 2* at best
Posted Jan 3, 2010
The food here was really very poor. Supper the night we arrived was stale pizza base with tinned tomatoes spread over and a light smattering of grated cheese. The only part of breakfast that was enjoyable was the coffee from the machine!

Too far from the center of Rome
Posted Jan 26, 2009
The hotel was clean and generally ok, but we went to Rome to see Rome and this hotel was too far out. The metro is about 2km away with a regular metro service but we had to wait up to 20minutes for the bus from the metro to the hotel. The area is not a pleasant area to wait for a bus and we did not feel safe at night or during the day.

Price range was ok, however, neighborhood is scary, customer service very poor, no hot water the whole first day?! extra charges for pool use, electric outlet broken and wires exposed, guests on balcony way too loud, tv channels with poor reception etc... Breakfast was good, and the bus shuttle to downtown was great. 4 stars hotel?! I do not think so.. Would not stay there again.... Sorry.
