Needs to up their game

Posted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: Very convenient location. Friendly helpful staff.
Cons: Breakfast offerings. More comfortable beds.
Very convenient location. Helpful staff. Quiet rooms except when another bedroom door closed. Beds were extremely uncomfortable - we could feel the wire frame throughout each bed. Breakfast was disappointing - contrary to website hype there were no omelets, bacon, sausage or real orange juice. A type of orange drink was substituted. Not enough breakfast tables when busy but adjacent bar area was not utilized for breakfast. No bathrobes as advertised. Wifi was spotty at times. One room had a bad odor that persisted. Disappointing for a 4 star hotel.

Nice hotel in a great location

Posted Aug 20, 2014
We'd spent two nights prior to this stay in a more central location in Rome but loved that this hotel was close to the river and Trastevere. This is a fab location for an evening out. Staff were great and really helpful with sorting out some extra requests. Would go back just for the location.

Great location

Posted Jul 27, 2014
Pros: Location.
Great location t o most activities while being in quiet area. Hotel staff were not all that competent or responsive. The breakfast was poor for the most part - just a hodgepodge of food, kind of like searching for left overs in the fridge. The hotel has incredible potential but it does not appear that management wants to get ahead of the ball.

Lovely Hotel In the Heart of Rome

Posted Jul 21, 2014
Pros: For me the most important things for any hotel are the location and the cleanliness. The Residenza In Farnese scores top marks for both of these!
We spent five nights at the Residenza In Farnese and had a terrific time. We hadn't been to Rome for ten years and wanted to be in the Campo de Fiori/Ghetto area but not anywhere too noisy. This hotel fit the bill perfectly. The hotel is not too big and consequently the staff know all the guests and are very friendly and helpful. Our room while not huge was very comfortable and immaculately clean. It looked to the rear of the hotel and although the view was not great it was very quiet and let's face the facts you don't go to Rome to stay in your hotel room and look out of the window! Breakfast was a more than acceptable buffet with a good range of cured meats, cheeses, pastries, fruit etc.

Maybe I am too American

Posted Jul 18, 2014
Pros: Breakfast was adequate. The roof sitting area was pleasant.
Cons: See the comments above; but a bit of American efficiency would go a long way.
Location: A good central location for many of the sights in Rome, but taken aback by the access to the hotel which almost looked like an alley.
I expect a box of tissues in the room, I expect more than one plastic cup if I am coming with my wife, I expect that if I ordered a car service to take me to the airport it would show up( don't know if the hotel screwed up and never ordered the car or what else happened), I expect the air-conditioner to work properly (and not have to make several requests to have it fixed) and I expect the front desk personnel to be more uniformly friendly. Also, for the price we paid I would have liked there to be enough space between the foot of the bed and the wall for two people to pass at once!

Lovely small hotel in an excellent location!

Well maintained historic building in the Piazza Farnese. Within walking distance of all the major sights. Wonderful staff, especially the front desk clerks who went out of their way to make sure we found our way around the Eternal City. Bountiful breakfast buffet in a charming dining room to start the day and at night there's a great selection of affordable restaurants and wine bars adjacent to the Campo De Fiori. Added bonus: best water pressure we found during the two weeks we spent exploring the Mediterranean. Would rebook there in a heartbeat!

A good home in Rome

Posted Jun 20, 2014
Pros: Efficiency of staff at check-in/check-out, ability to deposit luggage on final day, always greeted with courtesy.
Cons: We were street-side so had some external noise at night - not the fault of the hotel.
Location: Colesseum/Vatican both 30 mins walk, Navona and Pantheon 10 mins. Went by train for great day to Florence - cheap if advance booked.
All queries were helpfully answered beforehand eg taxi from/to airport arranged. Hotel has its own historic charm and is ideally central for City sights with plenty of places in the area to dine. Staff extremely efficient and pleasant at all times. Breakfast sumptuous and nourishing. Rooms differ in size and design - ours (309) had the most comfortable bed we have had in a hotel, and shower/appliances that were in working order. Roof terrace provided an opportunity to escape for relaxation. A very fair price for a good hotel. 'Wow' factors at Colesseum, Vatican, Pantheon, Palazzo Venezia and the churches in Navona (2), St Ignatius Loyola, St Andrew della Valle. Economic meals with superb service at Capranica restaurant in Via in Acquiro.

Noisy. Very warm, no air condition in late May.

Posted May 24, 2014
Pros: Close to restaurants, small market.
Cons: Repair antique elevator. Repair air conditioner so guests can be comfortable. Redo dining room
Location: Walking, restaurants, bars, small market
Very noisy. Waite staff very slow. Old and no air conditioning running in rooms although it was very warm in late May. Had to leave windows open because of heat. Bar noise from street very loud. Breakfast was ok. Crowded dining room with too many tables
