Pros: Cleanliness and newness of the hotel. Breakfast was good.
Cons: Helpfulness of the staff.
Location: Near the Vatican. Otherwise, work to get to the other sights of Rome.
The Starhotels Michelangelo was a clean, modern, reasonable hotel near the Vatican. We were not disappointed by the rooms, good air conditioning, breakfast and the cleanliness of the hotel. The staff, on the other hand, was not helpful. I actually asked at the front desk for a restaurant suggestion and was told that they "did not do that" and that if we walked out the door and around the block, we could find something to eat. Or, better, we could eat in their dining room. Note that the location is not the most convenient. If you are interested in being in the heart of Rome, this is probably not the best choice. To get to anything other than the Vatican, you have to walk over a mile to get to the Metro, take a cab, or walk over 2 miles over the river to get into the sights in Rome proper. Food options in the area are also limited. Liked the hotel. Wasn't thrilled with the staff. Location was hard.

Cons: Tea / coffee making in rooms
Location: Ideal location for the Vatican
Very pleasant and helpful staff the rooms where spotlessly clean with clean bedding and towels every day the only downside no tea, coffee making in room, the breakfast was good enough to get you started for the long day ahead

Classy, spacious, well priced.Posted Aug 11, 2014
Our room was the nicest one of 5 hotels we stayed in while in Italy. The room was a good size, we were given a fridge and it was clean and ready for us upon arrival. The internet takes forever to initialize but once you do, the connection is good. The breakfast is really good. If you go during August, be warned that a lot of restaurants in the area area closed here. But otherwise a short walk to St. Peter's and the Vatican. The bathroom is a little odd - it's was large and clean, but has a weird "wall" for the bathtub that isn't stable - it waves back and forth and only covers half the tub... so we got water everywhere. We couldn't figure out how to fix it. Taxi drivers all recognized the hotel as a higher end hotel. Don't ask the front desk for anything though - they wouldn't even help us call our driver... they told us to use our room phone.

Excellent Mini BreakPosted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: Very clean, comfortable bed and good breakfast. Most definitely a 4 star.
Cons: We were not able to check into one of our rooms until after 2.30pm despite checking been 2.00pm. Also, I feel all 4 star hotels should offer free WiFi
Location: Close to the Vatican and St Peters Square.
We stayed here for a short mini break before moving on to Arpino. This hotel is 5 minutes away from St Peters and the Vatican. As we enjoy walking, we walked everywhere as opposed to taking taxis and buses. However, for those less active it should be known that the walking distance the other main attractions is between 40 minutes to 1 hour, depending on how fast you walk. We stayed in one of the more basic rooms which was lovely and clean with a very comfortable bed. The view was not great but this did not bother us at all as we weren't there to stay in our room. The breakfast could not be faulted, lots of meats, cheeses and pastries. Hot breakfast food consisted of scrambled eggs, bacon, beans and mushrooms. We found the staff very friendly and attentive, both at the main reception and in the restaurant. Overall, a very pleasant stay. Thank you.

Great first night in RomePosted Aug 4, 2014
Location: Close to the Vatican.
We arrived much later than expected due to lost luggage. But the staff was extremely pleasant, and the next morning, the breakfast was wonderful. I forgot an article of clothing after we checked out, so I emailed the management, and they responded right away, saying that I could pick it up. Lovely.

Clean and modern hotel walking distance to the vatPosted Jul 27, 2014
Pros: Clean and modern, great breakfast buffet.
Excellent breakfast buffet and friendly staff. We had two adjoining rooms and found them to have plently of space as we were travelling with our 3 children. Would stay there again.
