“Safe, clean choice near Roma Termini... but not impressed”

Picked this hotel about much last-minute research on mostly Tripadvisor which was difficult given the number of hotels in Rome. Our priorities were location to the train station, cleanliness/safety, price, and service. Target Inn hit on most of these points. Location is only about 10-15 minutes walking from Roma Termini train station, but could take longer with heavier luggage, more foot traffic, getting lost without directions, etc. The metro stop, Republica, is one stop away from Roma Termini which is convenient. Room was clean, modern-looking, and fairly spacious with good wifi and room safe. Shower temperature was occasionally variable. Heater unit did not work well during the winter so we left it off. Room was somewhat noisy from traffic at night. Breakfast is served to your room which is a nice convenience and they try to accommodate preferences. Service was mostly good, however was not above expectations. One evening we had a new front desk staff (1st day) who was unable to answer basic tourist questions, but at least he tried and got answers eventually. Target Inn is certainly an adequate hotel for its location, price, cleanliness, included in-room breakfast and amenities, speedy free wifi, and the willingness of the staff to help. However, if you are looking for exceptional service with above-average knowledge of restaurants/etc, other options may be available. We would consider staying here again if visiting Rome and the price were right.
