“A taste of "La dolce vita"”

A luxury hotel with an understated elegance that will be wasted on those that want "the Marriot" experience. What I mean is that for a stay in a beautiful romantic city like Rome we wanted an equally beautiful and romantic hotel......and that is exactly what we got.

“Beautiful but costly!”

Wonderful all around except for the "extra" charges. For example, no iron in room. Six euro per item to iron. Ordered room service, a plain burger with fries, horrible burger and it cost 26 euro. Way too expensive. But I went down the road to Harry's bar for a diet coke (8 ounce). It cost eleven euro. CRAZY! But as far as location, cleanliness and accommodations this is a wonderful hotel with great service.

“Smiles all the way”

BRILLIANT. From the minute we stepped out of the courtesy bus the staff were more than helpful and very smiley. We arrived on day when the electricity was off in the hotel for a maintenance issue but this didn't stop the staff from making sure our check-in went without a hitch. Shown to our deluxe suite which was very deluxe indeed. Certainly 5 star, even the chandelier in the room made us remember the "Ony Fools" sketch and we both said "brace yourself Rodney" and then we fell about laughing. The bathroom was enormous and had everything from slippers, dressing gowns and loads of toiletries( you could get lost in there it was huge!!). Although Rome was expensive, it was money well spent and if you avoid the restaurants in front of the attractions and take the next street, they seem to be a bit cheaper without loosing the aura of the city. The concirerge service was excellent, they even gave me the translation for an almond allergy so that I could explain this when eating out. They are very good at stating the price you should be charged for a taxi. Don't get in a taxi without getting a quote first, otherwise some of them do take advantage. Overall, excellent stay with excellent service, just a shame about the high cost of food and drinks inside the hotel. 14 euros for a glass of Cranberry juice and a small bottle of water. Nightmare!!!

“Great location and service. Will definitely stay here again”

We loved this hotel. I was worried based on some mixed reviews and comments that the rooms were worn and outdated. Our room was wonderful and enormous. We had a king bed, desk, and loveseat, with plenty of room for an extra twin rollaway bed for our daughter. The room had large floor-to-ceiling windows that opened onto a side street. While we had no view, the side street was much quieter than if we had been on the Via Veneto or US Embassy side of the building. The bathroom was clean and very large with double sinks and a massive shower. Our only complaint was that the cleaning staff did not always restock towels and toiletries -- we had to call the front desk a few nights, but they sent housekeeping up immediately. The location at the top of Via Veneto was also excellent. We were a short walk from the Galleria Borghese, Capuchin Crypts, Piazza Barberini, Trevi Fountain, and Santa Maria della Vittoria. If you want to take the subway, you are a short walk from the Barberini stop on Via Veneto. We also discovered that there is an entrance to the Spanish Steps subway stop just across the street on Via Veneto. The entrance carries you on a series of escalators and movng walkways directly to the base of the Spanish Steps. The location is far from ancient Rome, but that did not stop us from walking everywhere. I would be hesitant to stay near ancient Rome which does not seem to have many nice hotels. If we travel to Rome again, I would be hardpressed to stay anywhere else.

“Too pricey for me”

Very superior, high end accomodations. Lovely rooms. Breakfast at 42Euro was a bit much though.

“Excellent hotel with attentive service in every area”

Spacious rooms with twice daily maid services. Very nice steam room to help relax your body after exploring the city all day. Knowledgeable concierge that assisted with dinner reservations for each night during our 5 night stay. Probably best of all we arrived at the hotel at 8am and they let us check in immediately despite the 2pm check in time.

“Rome's Ambassadors Work Here”

Nestled on corner of fashionable Via Veneto across from American Embassy, the Westin has some of the most welcoming staff one could hope for (and they like to try their English on for size). Roomy, classy, the most comfortable hotel bed - and pillows - we have ever experienced, the hotel is in a fabulous location and boasts a great breakfast buffet! Even saw some American movie stars there!

Via Veneto, Rome, Italy: Made famous by ‘La Dolce Vita’ film in 1960, the Via Veneto is going through a glamorous renaissance. Bars, restaurants, chic hotels and boutiques all vie for attention in the street which coined the expression ‘paparazzo’ – the surname of the photojournalist in the film. Nearby, the Spanish Steps are the place for lovers’ trysts, shopping, and honing the Italian art of ‘dolce far niente’ – idling and people-watching.
