"What a wonderful find!"
We wanted a base that was near to the sights, and we were so lucky to have found this hotel. Only 10 minutes walk from the Colosseum (maybe a bit less depending on your speed and the heat!) and with lot's of eating places nearby on Via Urbana for the evening, we don't think we could have found a better hotel for the money. We were kindly allowed to check in early by Cristiana who was utterly charming and we made our way to our room via the lift. OK, they aren't the biggest rooms, but we didn't intend to be in the room that long. Everywhere in the hotel was spotlessly clean and the bed linen was good quality. Considering breakfast is included in the price, the choice was excellent, and you can order freshly cooked scrambled eggs, and a variety of coffees if you so wish. All the staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble, you really were made to feel very welcome. When we go back to Rome(which we will do very soon!) we won't even look elsewhere for a hotel, we will book the Hotel Ivanhoe without hesitation.

"A good hotel in a convenient location."
My fiancé and I returned from this hotel yesterday (31st October 2014) and had a brilliant time. We arrived late- after midnight- and found the hotel tricky to find. It's a small hotel and different to any I have been to before. On arrival, we buzzed the buzzer outside the front door and was let in to retrieve our hotel key which had been left for us. The reception desk in this hotel is actually next door but the staff are available to contact using the phone (after 9pm). The hotel staff are very friendly and approachable. Although quite small, our room was very modern and clean. In the room there are tea and coffee making facilities and complimentary muffin-like snacks. The hotel is located as close to the Vatican as you can get! An amazing location. It is easily walkable to all of the tourist attractions in central Rome, we even walked to the Colloseum which was a bit of a walk but as we had nice weather we didn't mind. To conclude, I would stay here again.

"Well maintained older hotel near the Termini"
A 10 minute walk from the main train station: just around the corner from Piazza di Republica and its Metro station. From piazza di Republica walk briefly on via Nazionale, turn left on the first street, and the hotel is 50 meters on the left. A very well maintained older hotel. Rooms seem recently remodeled. We would readily stay here again. The Termini is next to a major bus stop and a major tour bus begins and ends there: Tram Bus Open. After getting oriented on the bus in the morning (a good sightseeing route) we returned to see the city at night: that was worth doing. Buy the Rome Pass and do the most expensive museums first. North and West of Vatican City is the Cipro Metro station: to the left (West) of the metro exit is Bonci's Pizzeria on via della Meloria. It sells an amazing variety of fresh made pizza beginning about 11 AM: long lines form and what's made sells very quickly. I will definitely go back there next trip to Rome.

"Close to most everything"
We felt a bit out of place as relaxed west coast people (not fashionable). Next to metro, close to Roma Terminal. Walked to Coloseum, Roman Forum, Vittorio Emmanuelle memorial, Capuchin Crypt, Trevor Fountain and Spanish steps, plus many other sights nearby. Grocery store less than 10 minutes away.

"Stars hotel metropole"
On arrival the reception staff were rude and unwelcoming. They didn't ask about journey or anything and the way the spoke to you was like they were doing you a favour by checking you in. In contrast to that the staff at breakfast who were the most polite and welcoming people. Surely some tips for the front of house staff to learn. The hotel it self is brilliantly located near termini and main sights. It's very clean and comfortable. House keeping was brilliant and outstanding. Breakfast selection is great (standard veggie options but enough to keep you going until a late lunch).

"Great hotel"
From the impressive lobby, right to the moment entering the room for the first time everything was a wow moment, the room exceeded expectations and started the trip well seeing my girlfriend so happy with the room, then when we realised we had the balcony room too that was a proper added bonus! while the room wasn't ready (as we were slightly early) we went to the roof top to have a meal which was amazing too (the only disappointment was the restaurant on roof was closed on the sunday evening) The staff more than accommodating. A real experience from start to finish thats the proper way to see rome too!

"Comfortable hotel in heart of Rome"
Somewhat ordinary entrance and reception but remainder of hotel was more than adequate. We booked a Classic Double room which was a good size, clean with a very nice bathroom. Staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Location was perfect. Although our feet were somewhat sore at the end of our stay, we had no need to take public transport. All major attractions were within reasonable walking distance. We took the option of ordering the hotel taxi service from, and back to, the airport which made things a lot easier at the beginning and end of our stay.

    Where to stay in Rome

    Rome Hotel Guide

Rome foodie guide - Make sure to arrive hungry on your next trip to Rome, Italy. The 5th Quarter is a must-try trend in this Italian city. The story goes, back in the day, the rich and royal had dibs on the best parts of meat, while the lower class was left with the less desirable “5th quarter” of the meat, such as the head, tails, and feet of the animals. The Italians have since mastered making the 5th quarter taste delicious, so try some tripe while you’re in town. Markets are another noteworthy place to grab some grub, such as the Trionfale Market and the Testaccio Covered Market.

    The Eternal City

Make a list of must-sees in Rome and you'll wonder how to fit in all of the things to do in Rome. The short answer of course is that you can't; what you can do is fill your Rome vacation with some of the most iconic historical sights in the world and book your next flights to Rome.

Rome is like a discourse on Western Civilization with a history that spans the ages, and has countless artifacts to prove it. The Roman Empire was one of the most impressive the world has ever known, with many of its ideals and principles still reflected in modern institutions today. Only a visit to Rome will allow you to fully understand this close-up history lesson while you stay at Rome resorts, or 5 star hotels in Rome, or an ideal cheap hotel deals in Rome to come back again and again.

From the Coliseum to the Pantheon, the Sistine Chapel and Palatine Hill, Rome is home to some of the world’s most recognizable landmarks. Book your hotels in Rome closest to your favorite landmark and you get to see it every day as you head out to discover the city. While the impulse to rush from sight to sight is understandable, don’t sell yourself—or the city—short. Some of your best discoveries in Rome will be those you happen upon by accident; ducking into an ancient church on a side street housing a masterpiece of sacred art, stumbling upon an expansive piazza in the early morning light, and sampling the best pizza that you’ve ever tasted in your life. Get a taste of Rome’s surroundings and get a rental car in Rome to drive to the outskirts as the greater area around Rome has much to offer, too.

Rome is the Eternal City, so approach it as if you have all the time in the world to explore. There's no need to cram everything into one visit as you'll soon fall under the city's spell, and return again and again. You won’t be bored, but if you do need a change of scenery, consider one of the cruises from Rome. Just rest assured that the best hotels in Rome are awaiting you time after time to make your stay unforgettable – every time.

    'La Dolce Vita'

If you're searching for the good life, all roads lead to Rome. The city is a dizzying combination of cosmopolitan capital and ancient wonderland. The home of Catholicism, it also plays host to nightclubs that stay open until dawn.

One of the most iconic images of the city comes from the filmmaker Federico Fellini, one of Rome's most adoring fans. In La Dolce Vita (The Sweet Life), Anita Ekberg frolics in the beautiful Trevi fountain after a long night's revelry. The scene is spontaneous, sexy, carefree, and a little crazy, reflecting Rome itself and the visceral impact it has on visitors. Try a romantic cruise down the Tiber River or watch the world go by from a Trastevere café and you too will believe life can't get any sweeter.

    Big city charms

Rome is situated in the middle of Italy, the perfect position for the country’s capital. In some respects, however, it is set apart from the rest of the country and has a personality all of its own. Hotels in Rome, Italy are as diverse and charming as the city itself.

Rome is as much about frenetic traffic as chilling over cappuccino, appreciating art as appreciating gelato on a hot summer day. Hit the museums (the Vatican Museums are extraordinary, as are the Capitoline Museums and a litany of others), but then slow down and stroll through Villa Borghese, a large park well loved for picnics (and its museum the Borghese Gallery).

Find your favorite neighborhood and come again to stay in your desired Rome hotels to enjoy a bit of dolce vita. With its culture, art, food, and wine, a Roman holiday is like no other, distilling all that can be enjoyed in life.
