“Savoy - great value for money and a nice, big bed!”
For the price, and especially compared to the cost of hostels in Argentina, the Savoy gave us way more for our money. When staying in a hotel there are three things I generally value: comfortable bed, hot and powerful shower and overall cleanliness and Savoy served these all up just perfectly.
“Just Fine for Argentina”
My father was born in Rosario, and we were eager to see the city and to meet my Argentine cousins. The locatoin of the hotel is terrific, right near the main center of the town, near the flag monument, and close to the river. Unfortunately, as our trip was primarily for business and our business schedule was so tight, and the travel options so limited (Only on flight a day from Buenos Aires to Rosario, or a 6-hour bus ride...) that we had little time to see the city itself. That said, we enjoyed our stay and the Esplendor Savoy was a perfectly comfortable and very reasonably-priced option for a hotel. This was once considered a classic hotel - in fact, my uncle worked there briefly in the 70s or 80s. Like much of Argentina, it has not been particularly well-maintained due to the lackluster economy. The exterior is classic and beuatiful, the interior architecture is lovely to look at, and many of the common areas and rooms have been redone as well. The room itself was large, clean and comfortable, but certainly not what we would consider a five-star, or possible even a four-star hotel in the United States or other international destinations. Mostly, it is the "finishes" in the room that seem to be lacking; plaster and caulk along the tile and moldings was not of the finest quality, paint was sloppily done in some places. Furniture was basic and functional. The staff and service were excellent, and including a decent breakfast buffet, the hotel was definitely a good value.
