“First choice if we ever get back to Spain”

This was the best Hotel on our vacation by far. The room was terrific, the grounds magnificent , the staff friendly and helpful, the room and grounds spotless, the breakfasts the best ever, right on the sandy beach, close to town. Also, the rate was fantastic for such a beautiful hote. Would absolutly recomment to all.

“Excellent hotel in Rota, Spain”

I spent three nights at this hotel and had an enjoyable stay. There are several good restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, Pelo Pincho was the best. The room was large and clean, it had fast internet, and the hotel had a beautiful pool with a nice bar next to it. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I would stay here again.

“Great for the Beach”

Great hotel if you want to be right on the beach. We switched the last three days to La Espadana which are all apartment hotels. MUCH BETTER for longer stays - you get a kitchen private bedroom, living room and all the services of other hotels - but it is not directly on the beach.

“Stay at Playa de la Luz whenever I get a chance!”

The only problem with this hotel is the location. It is a 10 to 15 minute walk from the downtown area. There is a bus that runs right in front, but the service shuts down at around 10 or 11 o´clock. I love this hotel and stay there whenever I have a chance. It is right on the beach!!

Area recommendations

Rota is a great little town. The Castillo de la Luna is especially worth seeing. I would also recommend the sun dial, the beach and the plaza´s downtown.

“Rota's best hotel”

Yes, we would go back to it. The breakfast was great the access to the beach was awsome. The hotel was beautiful. The maid service was wonderful. The only thing that was not so great is that the out door pool was cold.

The beach it is the best.

Dining

If you are going to go out dining in the evening the town doesn't eat till very late at night. Like 10:00. Also the night life doesn't start till about 1:00 a.m. The people party late in the evening. Also know your Spanish because the menu will be all Spanish.

“Beautiful Hotel, but a little remotely located”

Playa de La Luz is a beautiful hotel. It was a little further away from the airport in Jerez than expected, and since we arrived at night, we had to catch a cab (60 Euros). The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the concierge spoke English and Spanish. We were a little disappointed because the weather was bad, so we were not able to use the beautiful pool. The breakfast, however, was excellent, and the hotel porch gave a beautiful view of the ocean. I would not recommend this hotel for young adults as the hotel amenities pretty much close by 12. Also, if you plan on spending a lot of time in Cadiz, this hotel is not a good choice as it is at least a 45 minute trip into town driving all the way around the Bay.

“Great service but hotel needs major remodeling”

We stayed in this hotel for 14 days while we were waiting for our local housing to be available. The hotel employees were absolutely wonderful, we could not ask for better. The condition of the hotel was surprizing for this 4 star rating. Bedspreads were patched, sheets very worn out, furniture was useable but tattered. The hotel room itself was the smallest room we have every seen it felt like it was 10 ft X 10ft and the bath was also very small for 2 people. The pool and beach area was beautiful as were the surrounding grounds. The lobby furniture appeared to be old and shabby. The last complaint was the cost of the food for breakfast. We did not take the plan that included breakfast. The flat fee for a buffett breakfast was over $40 which we thought was far overpriced.

“Beach of Light”

Playa de la Luz is exceptional. The location is great - on the ocean with an expansive beach. A national park is literally next door, with miles of board walks along the ocean. Close to great restaurants. The hotel itself is beautiful and the staff superior. This is a classic property, so do not expect the amenities of newer luxury properties - but I viewed this as a plus. I would definitely choose Playa de la Luz again. A+
