Great location. Nice, clean & comfortable room.Posted Nov 10, 2013
We only booked one night, but would love to return and stay 2 or more nights. wonderful town! Very walkable. One day is not enough.
Nice location, breakfast and staffPosted Jul 15, 2013
Pros: The staff was outstanding
Cons: The pillows and the temperature of the rooms.
Location: Perfect location in the heart of everything
The hotel staff was beyond amazing so kind and helpful. Unfortunately the reason I wouldn't recommend it was because the room was very hot and our room 301 was on the street side so every time a car passed on the cobble street we could hear it because the windows had to be open because it was so hot and there wasn't any air conditioning. The pillows were feather pillows so there was no support I did learn you can use your comforter as a pillow though to give it a bit more support. I hate not being able to recommend this hotel because the staff was so incredible !

Excellent hotel in a romantic location.Posted Dec 7, 2012
Pros: location staff food
Location: outstandingly beautiful town - Dickensian novel springs to mind!
From the moment we arrived, we knew that this hotel was an excellent choice. Room was excellent, well provisioned, large, airy and comfortable. The staff were polite, professional and friendly - nothing was too much to ask for. Its location is inside the walls of the outstandingly beautiful Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Entering the town and walking around was like being on the set of a Dickensian novel. This hotel was so good, that on checkout, we reserved again for next year. The only problem we had was the booking, where the information we requested had not been received by the hotel. I confirmed the booking with the hotel the day before arrival, and even though this was their busiest season of the year, they ensured that we got what we wanted.

A gem of a hotel!Posted Nov 30, 2012
Pros: Ambience, location, cleanliness, decor and hotel staff
Cons: no parking, but if you just stop out front they will take care of the car for you so in the end it was no problem at all
Location: Can't be beat from a location perspective. A quaint little town surrounds you in every direction.
The ambience and location of this hotel are simply perfect. If you like quaint boutique hotels with friendly staff and a strong local flavor then this is the hotel for you. I was travelling alone exploring Germany before a business conference and was very happy that I chose to stop in Rotherburg but also to make this hotel my home base. Everything is walkable and I felt completely safe wandering about as a female on my own. Make sure you take in the evening walk with the 'Nightwatchman' which was recommended to me by the hotel staff. Also, food in the restaurant was very good. A terrific little gem in a terrific little town!

Pros: The fascinating old building.
Cons: No access to a washing machine.
Location: Perfect. Right up against one of the old city gates and a few steps to the town square.
We had three kids with us and the suite was huge. The location was perfect, the staff friendly and helpful and the breakfast very generous. A great place.

Stay in RothenburgPosted Sep 29, 2012
Pros: Charming rooms and service
Cons: A little noisy, but other rooms would be quieter at back of hotel
Location: Wonderful location within walls of town
Wonderful unique family run hotel, full of character. Great location in Rothenburg. Room was a little noisy overlooking street and at top of stairs near hotel entrance. However, we did get to choose it so really can't complain! Rooms and bathrooms were very large. Free wifi and lovely breakfast with freshly prepared eggs and waffles which you could cook.

Christmas Magic!Posted Jan 8, 2012
Pros: Looked like a Christmas postcard!
Location: Rothenberg is quaint, and beautiful, and is a dream to visit if you want to feel like you are living in a postcard. Loved this village!
OMG! This hotel was a delight, and a dream! We stayed just before Christmas, and the markets and town were like a picture postcard! Soft snow falling when we arrived, and the building was delightful. Staff were happy, helpful and attentive for whatever we needed. Porter and reception were amazing! Our room was set up for 4 people (as requested) when we arrived, and was enormous by Europe standards. The bathroom was deluxe, and everything was incredibly comfortable! Looking out of windows from this hotel, every angle was shingled rooftops and cobbled streets. Inside the hotel was beautifully decorated everywhere we looked! AMAZING stay! Loved this place!!!!

Two night is not long enough in RothenburgPosted Oct 24, 2011
Location: Rothenburg is the most charming, quaint and enjoyable medieval town. We only stopped for two days and wished we had more time to spend there. There's tons of shopping to do for such a small town. And definitely take the night watchman tour!! I can not wait to go back to Rothenburg with my children someday!
Why anyone would have anything bad to say about this hotel is beyond me. We just visited Rothenburg during our 1 year anniversary trip. We stayed 4 different hotels during our trip across Germany, and the Romantik Hotel Markusturm was by far the best! The staff all speak English very well. Check-in was a breeze and they even gave us a choice of rooms. We ended up with a beautiful room with a large, canopy bed and a huge bathroom. After checking in, the woman at the desk was very helpful guiding us to a restaurant for dinner. Her recommendation was excellent. The next morning at breakfast, the staff was once again very thorough and attentive. The breakfast buffet is okay and very similar to what we received elsewhere. We did have dinner at the hotel the second night and it was by far the BEST meal we had in all of Germany! The soup, the entree and the dessert was delicious!! The hotel is beautiful with such charm! When we travel back to Rothenberg, we will not hestitate to stay at the Romantik Hotel Markusturm again!
